Can you believe it? Five whole psychonaut 2 years! I can't. That's kind of insane to me, actually.

I've had this comic sketched in my back pocket for actual ages, and finally got the opportunity to finish it as my part of the Psychonauts 2 Zine, @talesfromthemotherlobe!! I've got more ramblings and thanks to give under the readmore \/

You can check out the zine itself through this nifty website that its been hosted on, set up and designed by @bumbldee! The neocities site itself just adds so much charm to the rest of the zine, its beyond delightful to see.

And an absolutely massive thanks to Rhia @donatella-aquato for organizing this zine!! She was also the one to setup the Psychonauts 1 zine I also participated in earlier in the year! And still setting up really cool future collaborative projects themed around the game. Rhia you've been keeping this fandom well occupied and entertained with your work, it's delightful to see spaces for Psychonauts fans still super into the media be able to thrive even this long after the most recent game's release :--]

Please give this zine a look! There's so many delightful pieces in it, and everyone's work turned out phenomenal. Maybe even just pop in the #psychonauts 2 tag for a second, as I'm sure many people will be dropping their pieces soon. A delicious meal from me to you.

I might be a little biased but I’m honestly starting to believe that there’s no purer form of love than the defensive spite you see from biologists that have devoted their life to the study of a maligned or misunderstood species. For example:

The hyena biologist that arranged for Disney animators to come sketch captive  hyenas for The Lion King film (Laurence Frank) was so incensed when the animals were depicted as villains in the movie that he later included boycotting the film on a list of ways the average person could help hyena conservation.

Though it’s commonly known that Charles Darwin’s distaste for parasitic wasps played a role in his development of evolution theory (since he felt no loving God would create animals with such a disturbing life cycle), the biologists who study these wasps find it an unfair characterization. When they were tasked with coming up with a common name for the family of parasitic wasps (Ichneumonidae) that old Charles so disliked, they proposed the name “Darwin Wasps” to spite the famous naturalist who had insulted their beloved family of insects.

Parasitologist Tommy Leung was so frustrated with the way people write about parasites to evoke horror and gore that he started writing a Parasite of the Day blog, that specifically avoids inflammatory or unsettling language to describe them. He also illustrates different species in colorful anime art on Twitter in a series called Parasite Monster Girls—which he calls his “love letter to parasites.”

I guess I’m just saying that if you’re a biologist studying an unpopular species and you have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder about it you can always count on me to be in your corner if you want to get a little petty with the public!

btw you guys ever think about Shedinja? i didn't know this before i raised one but Shedinja is created (separated??) from Nincada/Ninjask with the same moveset, same personality... i took it to have its friendship evaluated and the woman in Verdanturf confirmed: my Shedinja knows me. it loves me. though seemingly just created, it has memories of me, and maybe even memories of being a Nincada.

and yet, Nincada's evolved form is standing right there next to Shedinja. Ninjask is the completed form, the imago, with that exact same love, those exact same memories. until that moment of evolution, the two were one Pokémon.

i can't stop wondering. what must that be like? what must it feel like, being the ghost of a living being? finding yourself empty, outside your biological body, but your body is still there and the one inhabiting it is still you? and what does Ninjask feel, seeing eyes peering out from the shell of its old form, and then finding that those eyes are its own?
