i really like the little glimpses we get of ned from people on the other side of robert's rebellion. jaime also tells us he has cold eyes. he says roose's eyes remind him of ned's. northman's eyes, cold and dead, harsh and cruel. i love it. it's such an interesting vein of reputation/perception of a man we the readers are introduced to as a loving husband and father who wants only what is best and most just for the kingdoms and the people that he loves.
