This isn’t related to my blog aesthetic but I’m tired of seeing posts where people are making others paranoid that they’re in a coma or something. You’re not. I know lots of us know it’s just a bad “joke,” but some people don’t have the luxury of being able to believe that after seeing others tell them otherwise.

Hey so I’ve been dealing with some horrible cases of dissociation recently. It makes me think things that don’t make sense. I wanted to bring this post back and add onto it.

You aren’t lying on the ground or anything. No one is desperately trying to wake you.

I am one person living in Houston who made this post. I am a living, conscious breathing person and if I made this post and it reaches you, that means you are, too. You didn’t imagine this post up. I made it two years ago.

You aren’t dead. You aren’t seeing things. That light headed feeling is just a symptom. This isn’t a dream and you are going to be okay. I believe in you and I hope you get through this.

Do you support gender non-conforming men when they don't exist for your entertainment? When it isn't the shock-and-awe, punk "irony" of smeared lipstick and a beard, or the polished showmanship of drag? Do you support the GNC men whose femininity isn't a joke? Or do you feel on some level that men are only entitled to femininity if it's strictly a performance? Do you still expect feminine men to uphold traditional masculinity to be respected? Are you only allowing these men to exist as caricatures?

Do you support gender non-conforming women when they don't appeal to your aesthetics? When it isn't meticulously tailored suits and expensive haircuts? Do you support the GNC women who can't afford or don't want to be "dapper" or fashionable? Or do you feel on some level that women are only entitled to masculinity so long as they're still "making an effort"? Do you still expect masculine women to uphold traditional femininity to be respected? Do you still think women exist to be looked at?

Are you genuinely unlearning sexist rhetoric and dismantling gender expectations, or are you just enforcing it in ways you're unable to recognize because you've tricked yourself into thinking your community is too woke and clever to fall victim to it?

taylor said hello would you like to do some actual meaningful analysis and embrace metaphors and allusions and Fiction instead of combing my social media for clues? and she’s so valid for that....... the power of taylor swift is the deftness with which she weaves fictionalized narratives in with her own life so that she’s constantly telling multiple stories at once and everything is simultaneously deeply about her heart and yet also it’s own tale... i think people are finally seeing that Taylor Swift the figure is just as much a Character as a betty or a james but that doesn’t mean she’s not also telling us the closest thing to her truth that she can articulate... its folklore and myth and narrative and pieces of her all wrapped up in one package... she’s always done that to a certain extent but albums like rep. and lover were sooooo deeply performative in the service of a self-making mythos while this is a quiet web of stories that both reveal and obscure, and she doesn’t care what it says about Taylor Swift the mega superstar, but rather about what it says about taylor swift the woman. ugh!
