Después de ver ESTA entrada de thebonegirl haciendo referencia al webcomic de gingerhaze ”Nimona" (¿No lo han leído? Mal hecho. Pueden empezar AQUÍ) y a los dibujos de ambas de chicas con pelo rosa y hermosas armaduras, pues hice una yo también (aunque no tan padre como las de ellas). Hice esta armadura pensando en los diseños que Jacob Halder hizo para The Royal Armoury, el vestido de finales del siglo XVI y las mangas de tiras, además de que la espada es inspirada por ESTA probablemente hecha por Daniel Sadeler.

Yo creo que, como la entrada de Sam Guay dice, debería haber un club de “Drawings of girls with pink hair in fancy armour”.

After reading THIS post by thebonegirl making reference to the gingerhaze webcomic “Nimona” (You have not read it already? Bad done! You can start reading it HERE) and both of their drawing of girls in suit of armour and pink hair, I got inspired and drew one too (even not as cool as theirs). I made the armour thinking about the Jacob Halder’s designs for the Royal Armoury, the dresses of the late 16th century, finistrella sleeves and wings on the shoulders, also the sword is inspired by THIS ONE probably made by Daniel Sadeler.

So I think, As Sam Guay says in the post, ther should be a “Drawings of girls with pink hair in fancy armour” club.

I didn’t realize that these details were Datura flowers. I’m in love.

Yup! My inspiration for the patterns was the meaning of the Datura flower: “deceitful charms”. So it’s a bit witchy, seductive, and there’s a few other little references to some myths that carry similar themes.

This is the piece that I’m giving up burgers for to finish tonight. Haha, I should have the final posted by tomorrow evening.

Faig Ahmed, Embroidered Space

Faig Ahmed explores composition of a traditional Azerbaijanian carpet by disjointing its structure and placing its elements into open space. With his large-scale piece titled “thread installation”, Faig re-interpreted the traditional carpet materials of his homeland by creating a type of spatial ‘stitching’ with the yarn across the surface of a wall. Speaking about his work Faig says, “I’ve been always fond of investigating and researching every detail of anything that had interested me and sometimes this researches reached inconceivable depths mixing up with my imagination. I’m heretofore harried by a question others have left in childhood – ‘what is inside?. That’s why I’m changing habitual and visually static objects making them spatial, giving them a new depth.and this as if reveals the essence of this object – the object that was mediocre just a minute ago.”
