Los Osos High School “accidentally” renamed her Isis… her name is Bayan

I am extremely saddened, disgusted, hurt and embarrassed that the Los Osos High School yearbook was able to get away with this. Apparently I am “Isis” in the yearbook. The school reached out to me and had the audacity to say that this was a typo. I beg to differ, let’s be real.

The apology issued by the school refers to this as “mis-tagging” and an “incorrect name”, as if that’s all this is. Printing teenage Palestinian Muslim girl’s name in her yearbook as the very people murdering Muslims and fueling islamophobia instead of her actual name is not just an accident or misspelling.
