it’s set up by the same people who did astroworld, which is a MAJOR red flag

idk if this is standard for festivals but the tickets are non-refundable, which is kinda sketchy imo (especially during a pandemic)

the site says wristbands are good for “the whole weekend” despite the fact that the festival is only supposed to be one day? which is a weird error

“tickets starting at $19.99 down” but the cheapest tickets are $224.99

the whole thing is 12 hours with 3 stages, which would leave ~32 minutes per set

There is a tumblr thread floating around acussing Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu of all kinds of awful things he allegedly has done on his now-deleted reddit account. Acussations of moderating an anti-black subreddit, being a big figure on a subreddit serving as a branch of MRA/incels for Asian men, comparing homosexuality to pedophilia.

The above twitter thread has someone dig through and recover all Liu’s old reddit posts to prove all these accusations are false.

Please don’t go around spreading falsehoods and if you see people repeating them, bring up actual evidence and disprove them.

The whole Simu Liu discourse just shows how people are so willing to do performative activism instead of actually genuinely looking into the information they’re spreading.

Looking into the screenshots people are complaining about they were 1. Out of context Reddit threads 2. An argument that was in good faith worded poorly (edit: in my opinion, as I say later in the post you can obviously criticize him) 3. Him saying terrorism is bad….? 4. A straight up lie

This isn’t to say you can’t criticize him ever or not have any problem with anything he’s said in the past, but the fact that this “callout” involves a lot of people simply not bothering to verify the information they read and then share as fact is really something.
