My friends and I were out spray painting (if you go to U of M you'll know where this is), and to support the GEO strike, I painted scabby the rat. This was my first time spray painting so I'm not very good but I still felt like sharing

so weird 2 me when I talk about colleges of agriculture and ppl are like “lmao you can go to school for farmingggggg hahaha” bc they don’t see agriculture as a science as if farmers weren’t the original engineers, botanists, geneticists, chemists, biologists, veterinarians, etc. etc.

go ahead and just decide you’re gonna start growing something to feed x amount of people, diversify your crops and livestock to meet nutrition needs, provide during the non-growing season, protect and repair the soil for future sowing & growing, identify which crops are best for your climate and soil type, develop tools & equipment or hand-methods to make this all easier/possible in the first place,

but don’t so much as google any information provided to you by the people who go to college for agriculture, or by the people whose family, region, and culture have been doing this all by trial and error for a thousand years,

tomorrow, april 24, 2020 will mark 105 years since the armenian genocide. please take some time out of your day to remember the 1.5 million lives stolen and those displaced because the turkish government and the young turks, a turkish nationalist political group, put in motion a racist plan to rid the ottoman empire of its armenian population, and of its christian minorities.

raphael lemkin coined the term genocide after learning of the racialized mass murder of the armenian people, bringing the term into the genocide convention to be recognized as a crime punishable by international law.

the US only just officially recognized the armenian genocide in october 2019. turkey still denies the genocide. some countries still don’t even consider armenia its own country.

please take tonight and tomorrow to educate yourself about the genocide, reading/watching survivors accounts, and pray for those murdered, displaced, families of those effected and the armenian people. i recommend http://www.armeniangenocidemuseum.org/#home as a starting place to educate yourself. trigger warning for murder, rape, images of lynchings.

we really live in a country where anti-quarantine protesters assemble in front of state government offices to yell about how its their god-given right as free-born americans to die of the respiratory plague they contracted working at their menial job that they hate for terrible pay and no benefits

i mean OP you do realize the people protesting aren’t protesting that THEY want to go back to work, they’re protesting that they want YOU to go back to work. this is about the privileged literally demanding the blood of the working class so they can go back to living their cushy lives. don’t be fooled.

@lizardsister Unfortunately, OP is correct. These protestors aren't the wealthy. I'm from Michigan and I saw a lot of coverage of the protest in Lansing. These protestors were composed of rural, working-class conservatives who would rather die than stop working. Many of them owned small businesses, but only things like landscaping companies or rural supplies stores, i.e. ones where they don't earn much and still work hard. It's tempting to view our opponents as elites, but the political reality of America is much more dire. These poor souls are shrouded with ignorance.
