There are some animals you only see in pictures with very little to compare its size to that make you go into cardiac arrest once you find out how big/small they actually are
This shouldn't be physically possible. Herons should not be this small

I don't think Tolkien is a good fantasy writer because he scored the highest at some objective Best Fantasy Book Test that every fantasy writer has to take, I think he's a good fantasy writer because he created a world based on things that he was interested in. I feel like a lot of fantasy writers think that they need to create a whole language for their world because Tolkien did and obviously his books are the best so they have to emulate him, but Tolkien did that because he was a linguistics nerd. I think the lesson to be learned from him is not that you have to include elves and deep history and new languages, but that you have to write endlessly about the things you are a huge nerd about and use those things to create your fantasy world

in conversation about white people who go to Japan and expect their knowledge of anime to culturally carry them, I was once posed with āitās like if there was a Japanese guy who was obsessed with spongebob and came over here and thought he could get by just communicating in spongebob quotes.ā This is a false equivalence because if such a man existed we would crown him king. Weād love him. Americans would fucking love that. sometimes I get sad that this isnāt a real guy I can invite to a party.
i miss everyone

Another day, another doggy you canāt pet. Meet the dhole (Cuon alpinus). Found widely across parts of Asia from India to China to Indonesia, this social canid typically lives in groups of up to 12 individuals. Sometimes it even socializes with other groups of dholes to form āsuper packsā of more than 30 members! Teamwork enables these hunters to take down prey ten times their size. And unlike many other species of canid, dholes allow their pups to feed first on kills. Their diet includes pigs, deer, and buffalo.

At Target this lady told her son he couldnāt have a Wonder Woman doll because āthatās for girlsā and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.
