Apologizing in advance to my mutuals and followers because this is absolutely not what I usually post about.

Hey everyone, I had a couple of questions regarding using minky for my first fursuit and i’m looking for some advice. For reference my sona is a clouded leopard so wanted short pile fur and a sleek design similar to seals or reptiles.

I’m working with a 3D printed headbase so sewing it onto the base won’t be possible. I was considering adhering the fabric to the head using hot glue? Some people advised against it becuase it may show up under the fabric. I’m also wondering how someone may go about adding spots and strips onto the pattern with a darker color minky without making obvious seams or bunching. Would I be able to just glue all of the parts on next to each other without sewing it together?

I’m also struggling conceptualizing creating a back of the head and neck for this suit. I plan on only making a head and possibly some handpaws down the line. My idea is to wear the head then a styled outfit that goes with my sona’s vibe (a shirt, maybe a jacket depending on the weather, and pants / converse. As i’ve mentioned before this suit is gonna be sleek so i’m not sure how to go about creating a neck. I know some people use zippers but i’m afraid it will show up really easily with the minky. (Maybe i could put a dark strip of fur there on the neck and it will help cover up any zipper?)

I have a balaclava i’m planning on using to line the inside of the suit, so far i’ve only foamed it and added a head strap to secure it in place while i was prototyping the fit. Do people just glue that in? or can you leave the inside unlined and just wear the balaclava with it on or off?
