[death of parents tw ; abuse tw ; anxiety & panic attacks tw] One August night, a newborn Sable would be left on the front steps of a church in a small town in Pennsylvania. The church was, at the time, under the care of Pastor Scott Andrews and his wife, Annabelle. Annabelle couldn’t have children of her won and immediately the pair worked on adopting Sable. The process was smooth and Sable was given a middle and last name, as her first name had been left with her and Annabelle like it. Things were great, until around the time Sable turned ten. Annabelle got very sick and passed away, leaving a distraught girl in the hands of a man who would admit to have never wanted a child. He was abusive, and in a few ways, always had been though Annabelle had protected Sable from it, more than she knew. What had been seen as normal punishment, soon took the form of physical and emotional abuse. By the age of eleven, a very broken Sable would find herself in the foster system. Unstable was the easiest word to describe Sable. The young girl was constantly in a state of needing to be around people but not being able to function unless alone. The anxiety of being near people and being alone equaling one another. It made her hard to handle and often resulted in foster families passing her over. Adoption didn’t seem likely on her horizon. Not only was she older than most were willing to adopt, she was troubled. When Shelby Corcoran came along Sable was fourteen and, while she had started therapy to deal with her problems, had given up hope of being adopted. There was something about the woman with the beautiful voice and the kind eyes that reminded Sable so much of Annabelle, of the woman Sable still considered her mother. It hit a chord with Sable, though not entirely in the best of ways. She had a panic attack and Shelby handled it far better than anyone else ever had, as they were a common occurrence for Sable. Sable wasn’t hopeful when Shelby left that day. While the woman had handled things well, Sable never got her hopes up, because “why would she want trouble like mine?” However, the news came through that Shelby wanted her and Sable didn’t know how to take it. The concept of being wanted was an odd one, and in the year that followed, Sable would find herself a home and a family. Sable continued to have therapy and work on her anxiety issues through out the next few years. High school was a time of self discovery and self acceptance that led to her passion of engineering. Mechanical was her favorite form, though the computer science aspect in building robots also appealed to her. She was good with her hands and had a knack for fixing cars, but it extended into other things as well. If she was feeling anxious she would channel the energy into taking apart and rebuilding computers, toys, anything that was mechanical or electronic in nature. When it came time for college, Shelby suggested PSU, since Sable still didn’t take well to the paparazzi. Being in the public eye wasn’t something she wanted, or needed, and it increased her anxiety ten fold most when alone. It took a few years for Sable to truly decide she really wanted to even go to college. However, once she was ready she applied, and was accepted, to PSU. Her freshman year went well, however, the idea of living alone after her freshman year was an interesting undertaking. With Artem, a Russian Blue certified as an emotional therapy animal, she made the most of it. Now, technically, a senior at PSU, her majors deem an extra year, she is as adjusted to life as she can expect to be. Confident in herself, though still not always the best at socializing (some things never change), Sable is often found working in a local garage or riding around on her motorcycle.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Sable carries herself in a rocker-mechanic fashion. Combat boots or chucks, leather jackets, grease stained blue jeans or black skinny jeans, there is no in-between, with graphic tees. Her hair is usually long, suffering from a case of helmet hair, and rarely sees it’s natural shade of ginger. She is minimal when it comes to make-up, though has been known to wear dark lipstick when in the right mood. Her ears are pierced, but she rarely wears earrings, and she has a few tattoos.
