Wylan: Maybe Im not overthinking, maybe Im just regular thinking about stuff thats overhappening
adding on to my unsettling jesper fahey post: intimidating jesper fahey (jesper who moves like a big cat stalking it’s prey) (jesper who’s entire demeanor can switch from friendly to terrifying in seconds) (jesper who casually shows off just how strong years of farm work made him) (jesper who leans a little too close to people, with no regard for personal space) (jesper who towers over every other person around him) (jesper who is quietly and assuredly confident in his fighting abilities, and rightfully so) (jesper who can shoot someone else’s bullet straight out of the air and not bat an eye) (jesper who is the right hand man of kaz goddamn ‘dirtyhands’ brekker) (jesper who most likely has a higher kill count than the wraith) (jesper who practically vibrates with excitement at the prospect of a fight) (jesper who is just begging for a reason to start shooting) (jesper who seems to always leave a battlefield utterly unscathed)
another one of my favorite wesper hcs is that both of them are vegetarian
they both really love animals, but i think it would've started with wylan
jesper would've become one out of convenience and proximity to wylan, but would've actually enjoyed it and become proud of it
they actually have the budget to be vegetarian now so that's wonderfully accurate
They have the budget and also are no longer starving half the time and malnourished (mainly Wylan). And no longer living in nor eating like the barrel (or at least if they do it’s on purpose for like one time and not a forced lifestyle).
Finally watching the magic flute let’s find out if I’m mentally prepared for straight jack Wolfe and the fever dream that I’ve heard this movie is
its so fun being a hadestown, six of crows, and next to normal fan because everyone is all of them
like every six of crows fan is simultaneously a next to normal fan and so on and so forth
and also the common denominator is jack wolfe so you can't get any better than that
I get like. The best way I can compare it is to cuteness aggression? But with everything I like. I dont feel like “oh I wish I had that shirt it’s pretty” instead it’s like “oh I like it. I shall eat it.”
I don’t know how to convey it but like it makes my mouth want to suck it up but like not in a weird way I just want to mmm I can’t even write this just mmmm.
I regularly compliment my friends by saying “I love your outfit. I want to lick you up starting from the belt — not in a sexual way” and last time she just went “I know” and it was nice I felt seen
back to the 'feeling physically ill whenever i think about it' type of love for next to normal. i don't know if it ever stopped but i do know that it is back with a vengeance either way
also I was looking at the background of my blog just now and I just realized. why is gabe making like direct eye contact with henry
like hello
help it’s like henry is looking at the invisible fourth-wall camera like “???? what did i just walk into????” and has no idea that gabe is actually the fourth-wall camera
or henry can see gabe and they’re sharing an “i’m so stressed out rn. there is far too much going on here at one time” look. which is also fun and whimsical
"I didn't know you had a brother" <- polite because she didn't tell him. couldve been a cousin
"I don't" <-
next to normal where henry can see gabe. this changes nothing other than the fact that if henry and gabe are in the same scene, the two of them will exchange a glance. everything else is the same. no dialogue changes. henry doesn’t bring it up after natalie says gabe died before she was born because. how is he supposed to tell her. what does he do. he’s sweating and the metaphor/ghost/manifestation of grief is standing in the corner sweating along with him because why can henry see him
I like to imagine henry can see him not because he's dealing with his own grief or guilt but because gabe simply big brother'd so hard he became visible just to intimidate henry
i had a vision
Oh no, my life is completely going downhill and so is my metal health. Wesper isn't gonna know what hit them :))
i wanna see unsettling jesper fahey (jesper who moves disjointedly, like a puppet with the strings cut, appearing clumsy and carefree, yet he never trips or runs into anything or missteps whatsoever) (jesper who makes people around him a bit too comfortable, to the point where they tell him things they would never tell any other stranger) (jesper who’s eyes seem to change color to match the closest metal object) (jesper who at times smiles with slightly too many teeth and eyes slightly too wide) (jesper who’s voice rumbles just a bit too deeply and seems to resonate with the metal around him) (jesper who moves faster than people can react, whether he’s pouncing or fidgeting or drawing weapons)
Marketing and writing tip:
Do NOT tell the readers or consumers what they feel. Let them come to their own conclusions.
DONT say, “this product is amazing!” Tell them about why the product is amazing and let them decide that the product is amazing after hearing about it. Not “you’ll love this, it’s great!” Instead something like “it has 45 percent more success rate than other product. It works like this and has this unique feature” and the person will go “wow that’s amazing” and be way more inclined to buy it.
Don’t say “he was sad,” instead describe the actions that indicate he was sad. “A tear rolled down his cheek.” “He looked down, willing himself not to tear up.” And the readers will be like “oh, a tear? He’s sad”
Tips for Writing Injuries
✧ Broken ribs suck. You don’t just “walk it off.” Breathing hurts. Laughing hurts. Existing hurts. Characters with rib injuries won’t be doing heroic sprints.
✧ Concussions aren’t instant naps. Dazed vision, nausea, dizziness, maybe even personality changes, but they’re not going to collapse neatly like in the movies.
✧ Blood loss is sneaky. It’s not just about dramatic pools of blood. It’s dizziness, confusion, and the body getting cold as circulation tanks.
✧ Adrenaline lies. Someone can take a serious injury and not feel it until the fight’s over. That “I didn’t realize I was bleeding until later” trope? Very real.
✧ Twisted ankles are brutal. One bad step and suddenly running is off the table. Even walking hurts like hell. Perfect way to ground a chase scene.
✧ Burns linger. Even small burns hurt more than most people expect. Blisters, infection risk, constant pain, it’s not just a cool scar later.
✧ Dislocated shoulders = useless arm. Characters can’t keep swinging a sword or firing a gun. They’re basically fighting one-armed until it’s fixed.
✧ Shock is a thing. Pale skin, trembling, rapid heartbeat, and eventually disorientation. A character might not even realize how bad their wound is.
✧ Stitches aren’t magic. Getting sewn up is painful and recovery takes time. They’re not instantly battle-ready after a needle and thread.
✧ Scars tell stories. Some fade, some don’t. Some stay sensitive forever. Don’t forget the aftermath when the wound becomes part of the character.
my friends react to physical contact from me in the same way one would react to a small, somewhat hostile kitten warming up to them.
There's an open pit in the middle of our office plan that drops down into a bunch of very sharp spikes that kill you instantly. This is bad. People keep falling in there and dying. Someone put a sign up, the other day, all bright yellow so you can't miss it, that says "Beware!!! Spikes!!!"
The office immediately split into two factions over it. One says that if anyone falls in the spike pit it's their own fault for being so stupid and not watching where they're walking, so we should remove the sign. The other says that the sign is an insult, there shouldn't be a spike pit in our office at all, and having the sign up like that is just normalising the existence of the spike pit, so we should remove the sign.
We ended up removing the sign. Probably for the better. Still... for a while there it looked like it might have worked...
Nobody has ever been capable of writing a scathingly harsh and well formulated satire about the perils of modern capitalism, that doesn't just get immediately one-upped by some random food service worker talking about their actual week.
