Rewatching Ghost Rider (2007) and oh no, I forgot that this demon, Blackheart, purrs--that's another ship to add to the collection.
I just saw some of @hjbender ghostheart stuff right beforehand and I hadn't considered them before.
And Johnny is like so, so dumb. Like... no braincells in his head.
So you got your dumb sweet noble (compared to a demon) hero and the witty (probably sophisticated) emo boy demon is reminded regularly of just how dumb Johnny is and experiencing every stage of grief realizing he still wants to get fucked by him.
Here we've got daddy issues galore, you know that's a praise kink right there, and he really wants Ghost Rider's hellfire inside of him...
"Buwahaha I know his weakness, I will manipulate his heart! Wait. He broke up with his girlfriend. I can't use that now. Now what...? I know, brilliant plan!" (You just played yourself.)
Edit: While very queer coded in the 2007 movie apparently it's not just coding--according to the wiki 616 Blackheart is canonically bisexual.
To me, Johnny is country boy coded. So w also have country/emo going on, which is a win
Also, the hellfire bit is gold
Blackheart, surrounded by flames in hell: Hmmmm. Not enough
*sees Johnny bursting into flame*
Yes, I need that
In context the wanting the hellfire bit is from the deleted scenes and it goes back to his daddy issues--[to Mephistopheles] "You gave the Gift of Hellfire to a human but not to me?"
Daddy missed my poetry recital--and now I'm gonna make that everyone's problem. Gotta make Hell on Earth now.
Edit: Also there's the dynamic of banging the boss's spawn. Not that Mephistopheles would care beyond how he could manipulate the situation. Or maybe he would start to care if being with Johnny actually got Blackheart to chill out and change his ways.
Blackheart [talking to a human friend, squeeing while holding up a big dragon plushie]: Isn't it cute? Johnny won it for me at the county fair!
Mephistopheles [showing up just to light it on fire]: This is not how I raised you!
maiden in need of rescue!!! what a horrible terrifying dragon!!!!
People really need to take a wider view of this paranoia about age gaps and realise this is how we lose the ability to build communities. You need to be able to realise that people can have things in common with you even if they grew up in a different time/place/culture. You also need to realise you can build communities with people who don’t have obvious things in common with you, that people can have the same goals and needs as you even if in most ways they’re very unlike you. Now, more than ever, we need to be able to work together to have any chance to stand ip against the few who have so, so much more power, money and influence than any of us do individually. We need to form communities that reach across age (and class and race and sexuality and so on…).
I... I have coworkers who are from 26 to like. 56. we have work in common?? the work we all do?? together?? commonly? all of us, at all of our ages???
Also I don't care what I have in common. I can strike up a conversation over plenty of shit I don't have in common. That's how you exchange information on topics. Learn To Ask A Question And A Follow-Up Question.
do these people not talk to their family members? I mean my niece and nephew are some of the coolest people out there and they are 30 years younger than me. Do they have nothing in common with their parents or aunts and uncles? My community elders in the fiber community are awesome and I have learned so much from them. And regularly do social things together.
Let's ambush mama! 😼
"Why do Pallas cats always look grumpy?"
"Pallas kittens."
The sheer roundness of this kitten must be admired.
It looks cute, right? But wait, what's that?
Yup. AI watermark. Traces back to this Facebook page which posts nothing except for AI images of manul/Pallas cats (plus a couple of videos of domestic cats). The original post is here.
Here are some real images of this animal. They're not as dramatic, but they are the real thing.
If you want to see real baby manul/Pallas cat kittens, and you don't mind a trip to the Quad Cities... Niabi Zoo just had a litter!

Peeling off the broken breastplate of a stoic knight who only fights and never speaks, just to realize there’s nothing in there. Not metaphorically—the armor is literally empty. It doesn’t appear to affect him. If the armor stays mostly in the shape of a knight, he just gets back up to keep fighting. But with the chest plate off he just sits there, equally impervious to curiosity as I reach up into the cavity where his body might’ve gone. Stubbornly, no answers are found anywhere in there.
So I forge him a new breastplate and on the inside, because I know he has plenty of room, I put a little pocket. Not big enough to hold anything functional of course. Just a little extra piece to see what he’ll do with it.
