A difficult thing about complex trauma is that there may not be any specific events that you can point to as something bad that Happened™️ and explain why you are weird at parties. Maybe there were small things that were mundanely bad but don’t justify the scale of your reaction. And maybe someone else describing the situation makes it sound laughably trivial. “I felt unsafe” never feels sufficient for something to have a profound effect on you. You feel like a phony, you feel unreasonable, you feel like acknowledging it would be stolen valor. Or maybe you wind up with an unscrupulous psychologist who tells you that something hugely, cinematically awful must have happened and convinces you that your mother’s bridge club made you eat gentile babies on the full moon for 13 months.

But. Well! Simply feeling unsafe/insecure/scrutinized/etc for prolonged periods inherently messes you up. Even if it’s with good intentions.

for a child, feeling unsafe around one's guardians or in one's home is in fact an emergency. kinda like "for most of human history having a whole bunch of people violently mad at you at once meant you were gonna die," I think. evolutionarily, a child who is not safe with guardians or in the home environment is very likely to die.

there's like 8 sacristans right??? (?) and we only know what 3 of them are made of (teeth, guts, hands). and yes a big mystery is what are the other ones made out of. however ☝️

the two we've seen in person have been wearing a captain hat (second sacristan) and a gardeners straw hat (sixth). i think the Real question we should be asking is what kind of silly hat are the other ones wearing

My proposal:

Feet— just like a fucton of feet and some legs. I want one with a big crown so it's easy to jauntily kick it from foot to foot... London constable hat? A hard hat? Bowler hat? Feet are strong and calloused, it could be a bruiser

Nails— I think this one could be a chef, it has a one of those tall chef hats. Its made of wise toenails, thin fingernails, and sharp claws and talons. Good at cutting and stabbing and poking

Tongues— a sloppy wet mop of a being, I want to give it a hennin (tall pointy princess hat). One tongue fills up the cone. Maybe it is an ambassador and dignitary...

Eyes— like an eggsac of a fish or frog but the eggs are eyes, and then the eyes hatch and smaller eyes roll out. Anyway it should have one of those green visors office clerks used to wear. The little eyes can be used as stamps for paperwork.

Hair— some sort of beautiful veil....... Maybe it has a lot of different types of veils. Wedding. Mourning. Long. Short. It's called fashion. Anyway I think being made of hair would make it very difficult to do anything without getting dirty or tangled so that's probably distracting. Maybe it just stays indoors and doesn't move too much.

like not that long ago i wanted to make a blog where i just took bug facts and replaced all instances of the bug's name and replaced it with knight and i kind of miss it. knights is bugs. its chitinous

Pseudo Choir (Volcano)

Purely 'Dwarven' societies are strange and alien things. Choirs of stonefaced and estatic 'dwarves' willingly forgoing food, rest, personhood in order to better reject this false world and serve as disposable and interchangeable cogs of a great and terrible machine that will tear into the world in long and spiralling routes in search of God’s wound and the means to free her beloved creator from their slumber. All under the direction of an Elect, a 'dwarf' born/sculpted with a larger portion of her shared angelic soul who can compel others to follow the call down. 

It’s often not until her great machine is damaged or destroyed either by her own folly or in reprisal for her reckless trek down that a 'dwarven' Choir can be reasoned with, the sudden need for trade and settling down and negotiating with other peoples luring her away from her alleged true purpose until a choir becomes at worst a society with strange apocalyptic religious practices.

These choirs are rarer now, as In the modern day the irresistible pull to free themselves of the world and search for god’s wound often end up being reinterpreted by those around the Elect as a call for religious reform. The 'Dwarven' faith schisms, reforms, and unifies as much as the elect would like, but few remember to truly reject the world in all its forms.

But these choirs do still form, either from an Elect’s particular zeal and connection to her true soul, from the desperation of the downtrodden or abandoned 'dwarves' within whatever society the dwarves founded or took root in, or simply appearing out of the blue from the depths of the dread steppe or out of the deep ocean. Every now and then a Choir marches through the known world and the devastation left in her wake has ended cities, and permanently damaged the Mensen’s opinions of 'Dwarves' as a people.
