is this saying mater and lightning mcqueen are gay
just saw someone say 5 year olds can't read and it had thousands of likes
i always thought i was just biased because my mom "home schooled" me for pre-k so i went into public school already knowing how to read, write, basic phonics and spelling, basic addition and subtraction, etc. i have such a vivid memory of sitting on the carpet during my first week of school wondering why our teacher was going over the alphabet and which sounds the letters make. don't we already know the alphabet? i got frustrated doing what everyone else was doing until the 1st grade teachers agreed to pull me out during reading and math time to join them instead.
but you're supposed to do that. my mom was actually right in doing that and not saddling some poor teacher with a kid who doesn't even know their own full name or how to hold a pencil, let alone WRITE their name correctly. i didn't realize it was that bad. i feel like if not just sheer laziness and handing their kid a tablet, parents forget kids don't come out of the womb being able to figure these things out on their own. reading and writing is not instinctual and they don't learn just waddling around with a sticky ipad in their hands playing cocomelon on repeat. any delay in learning these skills can lead to major deficits down the road if not immediately corrected. it's why there were kids in high school who were functionally illiterate with no developmental delays or cognitive issues
It always drives me crazy that so many parents think they should leave education up to the government. I started kindergarten knowing how to read, write, and do addition (all at a very basic level, of course) and I would consider anyone who didn't at least try to prepare their child like that to be a failure. This is the bare minimum.
I didn't know how to properly read or write until I was in the second grade because I had the misfortune of the public school experience. My mother had to work with me at home and teach me the old-school way (she's from Ireland) of understanding phonetics and context to understand and remember words. Now I write novels. 20,000 words per chapter is normal for me, and it doesn't even drag. Just imagine how fucking lost I'd be if my mother never took the initiative.
Why haven’t I seen this posted yet… Kojima is even trying to trick his staff.
Conspiracy theory: "pitbulls are nanny dogs" is straight-up population control propaganda. If a woman hasn't had her tubes tied or had a million abortions, and ends up having a kid, the pitbull is there to kill the kid.
Well-meaning AWFL's have their "empathy" twisted to see shitbulls (much like violent murder-rapist criminals) as innocent, misunderstood angels and let them around their toddlers, who get mauled to death or disfigurement.
I had to read the term "dog racism" with my own two eyes. There is no way this shit is organic.
This post is brought to you in part by me going to Goodwill and seeing some bs propaganda book called "pitbull heroes" or something like that being displayed front and center.
Wonder why the original owners got rid of that book...
What race is automatically a violent criminal in this comparison? You're missing a piece.
She's from the anime "Armitage III".
this is great 😂
It’s back 😂😂😂
Forever Fave. Iconic post.
I still scream when I read this. Always reblog for Black History Month!

Then invented time travel to start some random mess after fixing his crisp ass suit and hat in the alley streetlights
2. Walked into the saloon hypnotized ALL the saloon hoes Black and white alike
3. Stole and pocketed the pot money from the dice game and side stepped out
4. Just this disrespect 😂
5. Shot this nigga without looking so hard that nigga left a looney toon hole inna BRICK wall
6. Had everyone more in slow motion, sweating and laying all over each other for 2 minutes
7. THEN SHOT UP THE CLUB
8. AND LEFT WITHOUT CLOSING THE DOOR 😂😂😂 LIKE THE SHAWTY THAT OWNS THE CLUB HAD TO CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND HIM
MJ REALLY WAS THAT CHAOTIC NIGGA😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Well yeah the song is called Smooth CRIMINAL, not Smooth Guy Who Minds His Business
A clip from the LA Riots of ‘92. The emotions of a black owner ran high when he discovered that his business was ruined.
different decade, same SHIT
It’s really not the best idea to share these things without context. Especially when white people sit here and try to use these things as evidence that black people and our movements are harmful. They said the same thing about marches on Selma and the like.
So for context, the “la riots” or more properly termed the La uprising was a result of the absolutely brutal and horrific beating and torture of Rodney King at the hands of LA PD and the subsequent acquittal of all the officers involved. So when you say “different decade, same shit” the “same shit” is the horrific systemic racism that leads to the death and torture of black people and the absolution of white racists and dismissal by white Americans which in turn spurns justified outrage.
It’s also important to note that the brunt of the damage occurred in Korea town because a few days after the brutality showed to Rodney King, a Korean shop owner shot a 14 year old black girl in the head because he falsely accused her of shop lifting. The shop owner was given a criminally light sentence which also sparked outrage.
The reason that there were black shop owners affected by these things is that in tandem with the shooting, gentrification saw Asian and Latino people overtaking black neighborhoods and displacing the local black communities in Los Angeles. So while these attacks were focused on members of the Korean community in Los Angeles, there were black shops that got caught in the crossfire.
It’s also important to know that almost all of the people injured and left dead were black people at the hands of a fiercely and swiftly militarized police force.
The aftermath of the LA uprising saw 2 of the officers brought up on federal charges of civil rights violations and found them guilty while the other 2 were again acquitted.
11,000 people, most of whom were black, were arrested and saw harsher punishment than the officers who beat Rodney king and the shop owner who fatally shot a 15 year old girl.
So the increasing burden of systemic racism, extreme poverty, displacement, and finally the public brutality shown to black people with absolutely no chance at justice reached a boiling point which resulted in the 1992 LA uprising.
So rather than hyper focusing on the unfortunate fact that some black business owners get caught in the cross fire as a way to pretend that you care about the material damages done to black people, how about we focus on the conditions that continue to result in these kinds of tragedies in the first place by addressing institutional white supremacy and its resulting cyclical poverty and oppression.
You cannot use one black man’s outage as a political weapon while ignoring the rest because that truth does not suit your racist agenda
So how does what you said make it ok that his business was burned down? How does that make it acceptable? How does it make it not a terrible, awful thing for those guys to have done to him?
Surprising no-one, afronerdism reblogged herself to complain about “white people” “trying to goad [her] into arguing”, because they’re clearly all “bad faith” “racists”.
Even though she literally came onto this post to argue, can’t tell the race of the people disagreeing, and, oh yes, has me blocked even though I’m a black guy.
In short, she’s playing the victim because her fragile little ego can’t let her followers see anyone who criticizes her, even if she’s doing it to defend her stupid, stupid, racist apologia.
If she was really secure, she’d just ignore the critics. And in her attempts to sympathy bait, she’s accidentally directing some of her followers to the notes. Whoops.
PS: I like how she complains about people “hyperfocusing” on the damage to the black guy, as if her problem is that they’re focusing too much, and not that they’re focusing at all. Class, you may recognize that little trick from feminist discourse on “hyper-sexualization”, which is totally different from complaining about sexy female characters.
I'd like to know how this person is so sure everyone they're speaking to is white.
Finally making more progress on my game after a pretty long delay from getting bad information, and then basically needing to learn all over again. Hopefully I can have more informative updates soon.
Collapsible batons are considered a concealed weapon and will land you jail time even if you don’t use it.
Noguns/anti-gun mfers always have the most distorted ideas about self defense and how it's viewed in the eyes of the law.
Their conclusions shape their understanding of the world.
"Gun control is a solution for violence. If violence is happening, than it must be because there aren't enough laws controlling guns."
And that's how you get the "I wish women had as many rights as guns" rhetoric that is hilarious when you compare it to the reality.
"You just need a few simple moves to defeat anyone!"
Just take the gun out of their hand! <- actual suggestion I've seen made
Caught with one of those in CA you're looking at a felony, even if you have a license to carry it.
License only covers you if you're working in whichever job it is that you are licensed to carry it for.
Brass knuckles or other similar devices are illegal with no licenses available here too.
Get. A. Walking. Stick.
It's a walking aid and genuinely can increase your endurance even with casual use. Almost no one will ever even glance at it when going in to venues and daily life ubless you get an ostentatious one.
And if the haft is ironwood, or has a core of steel rod, no one needs to know that unless it comes up in the trial, but what prosecutor is going to charge a person who 'needs a cane' defending themselves from a threat with the tools they have to-hand?
The would still consider it a concealed weapon designed to appear as a non weapon. Lmao purely because it’s designed with a core rod they claim “it was designed to be used to harm”.
Trust me people get charged for dumb shit like this in self defense cases all the time in heavily restricted states/countries.
Guns: Simultaneously the most dangerous and effective killing instrument ever conceived, and a near-pointless vanity item that holds no real bearing on your ability to defend yourself.
brother you gotta understand i need this in my life so bad

Arrest everyone involved.
Money saved: maybe a couple million dollars.
People killed: around three quarters of a million.
Okay but no though. I finally said "fuck it" and looked it up.
Everyone quoting this number is quoting what certain people predicted would be the number after a year without aid. I have never seen anyone cite a number that was not a projection written beforehand, based on estimates of what would happen with no aid.
Except that isn't what happened.
The "dissolution" and "aid freeze" were constantly tied up in the courts instead of being implemented. Marco Rubio was put in charge of USAID, and despite being a Republican, he is an actual human being who would show activity on an EEG and not an arc node of Trumpism. He issued waivers to keep funding the "critical" lifesaving operations of USAID going during the funding freeze, regardless of the courts' decisions. His explicit intent was to dissolve USAID as he saw it as a wasteful and counterproducrive program, but incorporate the parts of USAID that actually were useful (like these programs) into the State Department. From other pages linked on the same site, he appears to have done that. Rubio's "America First Global Health Strategy" lays out an extremely reasonable argument for what he is doing and why. He even goes into specific detail about how great PEPFAR is and why so much of its budget is being wasted on buck-wild overhead costs and inefficiencies instead of integrating local services.
I think the initial rush of "everything is cancelled NO WAIT no it isn't" probably caused harmful disruption, but don't know if I buy the story that it forced tens of thousands of layoffs. Because that period lasted, like, a week and that's not enough time for them to have felt the effect yet. Still wasn't good! Most things Trump just stumbles into dick-first aren't! But everyone I can find claiming this body count is making it based on projections from the first moment that aid was cut, and didn't alter their predictions to account for the fact that the majority of that aid was resumed pretty quickly..
The alleged kill count is wrong for two reasons.
The moral reason is that "refrained from rescuing" is not the same thing as "killed"; the equivalence is made up by people who will grab onto anything to Get Trump but they never apply the same standard for e.g. the Obama Presidential Library "killing" thousands of people by spending that money on something other than aid. (Except for like five Effective Altruists.)
The practical reason is that we don't have to lean on hypothetical "sophisticated modelling tools" any more now that we have data from countries that got their aid cut, and the data indicates the model was wrong, the projected deaths didn't happen.
Shit like this is how we got eight years of Trump and I entirely blame the people that still don't get it and continue to senselessly lie bout him. If you want the next sixteen years two be with President Vance and President Rubio, this is how you'll get it. If you want literally anyone else, I suggest you don't make shit up on the spot and give them a kinship with the giga-fuckloads of other people on the internet that constantly has shit made up about them by people just like you.
This is a literary wishlist from a publishing agent......
I love that whenever one of these lists comes out, my main project breaks at least half of the rules. I learned from the best.
