I'm still not over Stranger Things because girl, with all due respect, what the actual fuck was that ending? Will gets some random ass boyfriend shoved at him at the end of season with basically no attention to how that relationship even formed? Mike ends up alone? El is either dead or can never speak to the people she knew as family again? What the fuck? There was so much potential for Mike and El to have had an amicable of screen break up and for this season to be Mike realizing maybe his feelings for Will aren't platonic because Mike and El were already distant and the LOOK after Will saved Mike but no we get unrequited romance and my boy Mike Wheeler ends up left behind mourning a girl who never even got to have her own life (I can and will go on about this for hours so we'll just leave it at that). But hey, they gave us som Stonathan crumbs at the end so like, I got that at least lmao (Steve is so gone for Jonathan and you CANNOT convince me otherwise)

If I call out something to you from another room or somewhere you are not in line of sight (i.e, I'm in one end of the L shaped kitchen, you're in the other) and you do not VERBALLY ACKNOWLEDGE you heard me

And then when I move into line of sight to check if I was heard

And you then decide to snap at me that you heard me the first time

It is considered common practice to give confirmation you've been adressed

episode 8 has SOLIDIFIED the autistic ogilvie headcanon in my mind. accidentally coming off as a jerk when he had positive intentions? asking insensitive questions because he doesn’t realise they’re insensitive? wanting clarification but making himself look rude in the process? this sounds like you are describing a day in my life. dude, i could swear on everything i love that he means well but doesn’t know how to communicate in a way that makes that clear to the allistic people around him. anyone who doesn’t see how autistic-coded he is by this point is either not paying attention or looking for the wrong things. he doesn’t exhibit signs of autism the way that our other autistic character, mel, does because it’s a spectrum! everyone experiences autism differently. ogilvie is autistic in a way that people usually do not like, in characters or in real people. those kinds of people are the ones that say that they would never hate someone for having autism but then go on to hate someone for having the symptoms that autism causes. autism can, in fact, make you blunt, overeager, condescending, awkward, and unempathetic. that part of it doesn’t not exist just because you or the autistic people you know don’t experience it that way. if you’re criticising ogilvie, fine, but at least take a moment to try to understand his character. if you can’t do that, why are you watching a show with notoriously nuanced characters?

something people are really missing about ogilvie and javadi's dynamic is that he DOESN'T think he's smarter than her. he KNOWS she's smarter than him and that's why he acts the way he does to her, because she is a threat to this plan he has for his life that he's working so hard to make real. he holds himself and everyone else to a certain standard, he believes that everyone is responsible for what happens in their life and that you should do what you can to get where you need to be, and if you don't, it's your own fault when you fall short of that goal (this is all information given by lucas iverson in interviews). people suggest that he corrects her and tries to answer before her because he feels that he's entitled to more attention and respect than she is but in reality, he knows she's smarter than him and they are in competition so he, in his mind, has to do whatever he can to make up for the fact that he's not on the same level as her (not to mention he canonically knows she's beloved in the er). so he's overeager, he overcorrects, he sucks up. it's all because of this worldview and the standard he holds himself to. it's literally canon that he respects her for how brilliant she is so it clearly has nothing to do with thinking he's smarter than her, quite literally the opposite! boiling them down to "she should be allowed to hit him with a car" is getting old when shabana and lucas have repeatedly said so many interesting things about their relationship. you don't have to like him but even if you're just a javadi fan you should be considering at least some of the intricacies of their interactions ??
