everyone shut da fuck up this is the only thing that matters
Oh My God Damn
Behind the deflector dish! I'll flip the switch!
Whereâs that one post thatâs like Reasons Why My Wife Cried This Week and when are we gonna get a fanfic of that but Ryland Grace.
Reasons my human has cried:
* New student, very small. Grace said it was pebble. Pebble is small Earth rock. Pebble likes name.
* He found out Eridians have no gender rules.
* Students brought him mineral sample. After he stopped crying he said he loves show-and-tell game. Human naming conventions oddly literal.
* I told him Earthsun grew bright.
* I took him up atop atmosphere bypass elevator to look at stars.
* He woke up from nap and found me still with him. I did not wait on his chest; he says I am heavy like âelephantâ and he âcouldnât breathe.â I laid my arm over him instead, kept him close, feeling safe. He said âcuddleâ was warm.
* Before class he heard younglings singing.
* He has plants in house from sprouts on ship. Plant grew âbud.â
* Engineers got seawater temperature right. He took off shoes and stood in water, sighing. He didnât care about pants getting damp. Cried until shirt was also damp. Humans very endlessly wet.
* He missed âDoritos.â
* Adrian helped food scientists make taumoeba dried paste. Made it crunchy after heating. We fused it into triangle form. Told him it was Tauritos. That made him laugh-cry. Laugh-cry is rare and precious.
* He remembered Eridians have no gender rules.
* We made him celebration outfit. Used metals he calls pretty. He can see frequencies named âcolorfulâ and âshiny.â These make humans happiest.
* I gave him hug when he wasnât expecting it. Easier to hug close now with exosuit. Hug when Grace sitting down so he does not fall over.
* Told him to think long time, stay with me as long as he can.
I just googled this and⊠yes, itâs absolutely real.
And there are so many articles and videos and discussions. Like, the scientific community is buzzing about this.
So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.
The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.
Thank God someone bothered to check.
I have a wild idea. what if we supported our claims of fact by linking to a reliable source. better yet, what if we went hogwild and just straight up linked to the actual unpaywalled study
"you should be at the club" i should be by the sea. i should be in the mountains. i should be at the moon. i should be awestruck and rendered speechless by the majesty of the natural world. if you even care.
"In the same way that your heart feels and your mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares. If you don't, then it doesn't." -- Brennan Lee Mulligan, D20, Fantasy High

I'm just a big fan of this helpful and loud friend
saw Iron Lung a second time and itâs still so funny to me that Jacksepticeye is playing a dude named Jack who gives the protagonist the stink eye through the porthole. like imagine calling up your friend Johnnymiddlefinger to say âI have a part just for you and youâre not gonna believe what you get to doâ
The story is what if the only way to save humanity is to wade through a ocean of their blood.
The story is what if the only way to save yourself was to do it blind and with the mechanical grunt of an engine instead of your own hands.
The story is what if you should've died years ago and you know it but by the god you don't believe in, you want to live.
What if that was the problem? What if that is why humanity gets a chance?
Your selfish desire to claw your way forward is the only reason you made it to this point. And this point is wrapping the last hope of humanity in a dingy life jacket with the hope it'll make it to the surface.
What if it's all true at once.
Its selfish to want your life to continue.
Its why we survive as a species in the first place.
The story is survive, live, claw and try until you can't. Until its to help the person behind you. Then go with grace and anger burning up the bit of oxygen in your lungs.
OOoooOOoooOOoo you wanna see iron lung in theaters oooOOOoooo
In case y'all didn't see the pics from the premiere for the cast and crew, they had this SICK LOOKING MOVIE POSTER
â Iron Lung spoilers â
I watched it again. I have realized something, and I wanted to share it.
That fish still had a human heart mixed in with the blood delirium. She was desperate for Simon to never get that box to the surface not because she wanted him to suffer, not because she wanted the others to continue to come down one by one to be eaten by the sea â thatâs what the sea wants.
No, the human within her horrific, mangled body is terrified that the black box holds hope. False hope. She was the one down there, she was the one who was there and witnessed exactly what was on that black box. She lived it. She knows that whatever she found before she succumbed to the sea might gather hope within the meager masses that they arenât doomed, that the truth, the secrets to everything within the Quiet Rapture, lies within the bottom of the blood sea, and of course they must get it â they must send more down to get it, now that they have what they consider âproofâ.
But she knows her fate, and she never wants the same for those she cares about. (Ava? Is that you?) She wants everything within this sea to be abandoned and forgotten about so the others have a fighting chance to survive. The blood sea wants to lure every single living soul down to become one with it, it hungers for more and more blood so it may sprout more roots and breathe new, twisted life into the humans it consumes.
Fish canât leave the ocean. Sheâs stuck down there, along with the others the sea has taken. She wants the others who are still human, still out of the blood seaâs grasp to leave and never come back â she wants the others to survive.
She follows him carefully at first. She even causes turbulence in the hopes of warding them off â Simon tries to heed her warnings (itâs too dangerous, it's not worth it) but the others are too blinded by hope, hate and desperation to listen.
The sub goes back down. Why? Why did he come back? Why didn't they listen? Must I take you where I died and was reborn anew?
(Simon is still alive).
Must I share an explicit warning, my own grave? Let me cut your ties and take you there, Simon. See it with your own eyes; we are doomed.
(I never told you my name. How did you know my name?)
(You did tell me.)
Simon is crucified, but not for humanity. He is holy in flawed ways, he is trying to make the correct decision for once but he is scared and sick and infected, and of course he does not trust a telepathic fish monster who swings wildly from the truth (you are dooming us all) to hive mind delirium (the light, it is everything, can't you see?). She catches herself several times slipping in and out of lucidity; she tries to tell him (nevermind about the light. Thatâs not important) donât look donât look donât look.
Why else would there be a huge hole in SM-8 that looks as if there was an explosion from the inside, that got out, not in? That was her.
She, too, is willing to risk herself for the greater good. She, too, thinks this is bigger than me.
It will kill them all, she says, desperate. You canât do this. She attacks in pure panic when he has exactly what she knows must stay buried. She knows that he is going to become just like her â she knows that he will likely kill her as he transforms in her maw, shattering her in the process. She does it anyway.
(The ship is alive, can't you see? )
The last shots within the sea has Simon transforming and blowing out of SM-13. A mirror of her. Tendrils billow out â he is bigger than she ever was, and he wonât ever have to bite â he will be able to grab and sink, drag closer and closer to the light, even if he wishes not to. They share this fate. They are now one in the same. ( Why you, Simon? Why you?!?)
The black box isnât hope, not really.
Itâs false prophecy, and it is covered in blood.
the horror from Iron Lung (the game) is "There's something alive down here." the horror from Iron Lung (the movie) is "Everything down here is alive, including you."
my favourite part of the movie was all of the radiation photos I think they look soooo cool
