i have a hot take about the Rhaena & Nettles situation in hotd.

i'm assuming that what they're gonna do is make Nettles be a secret identity for Rhaena, Daemon will find out and still travel with Rhaena-Nettles but won't tell Rhaenyra who Sheepstealer's rider ACTUALLY is and we will either get rumors of Nettles being a paramour of Daemon OR Rhaenyra learns that Nettles IS Rhaena, so she's pissed at Daemon for lying to her, which feeds her paranoia. once Nettles "disappears" she goes back to the vale, Rhaena being Nettles is covered up and for whatever reason Jeyne decides to welcome her back and they just pretend that she was never Nettles in the first place.

so my hot take, i don't actually entirely hate the idea of Nettles being a secret identity for Rhaena, but the major MAJOR problem with it is that it can ONLY work in the show because they made Baela, Rhaena, & the Velaryons black and in turn decided to erase the one canonically black character. i don't have a problem with the dragon twins & the Velayrons being black, i love the actors for them and can't picture anyone else for any of them, but a lot of the writing around them for the show is pretty racist, especially with how they treat Baela & Rhaena.

IF the Dragon Twins & the Velayrons were black in the books too and the rumors of Nettles being Daemon's daughter and not his lover were more pointed out (in the book), then MAYBE the choice to merge Rhaena & Nettles wouldn't be received as badly as it has been by book fans, but because of those factors + the weird treatment of the dragon twins in the show, it just comes across as the writers once again being racist towards the dragon twins and not wanting to bother casting another black woman.

a lot of this is based off assumptions on my part and i'm hoping that i'm wrong about a lot of things here
