So then you basically have mecha vs. aliens anime except now add in a bunch of stuff like “it needs two pilots, an boy and a girl and the girl is bent over in front of the male pilot” and “the dystopian future has people with extended lifespans but no ability to procreate” etc.

So anyway, it’s a gross cishet propaganda piece with gross dude stuff on top of it, which only makes it about 10% more gross than most shonen but the fact that it’s govt. sponsored is sketchy as hell.

Its all about the numbers y'all. Japans birth rate is currently at 1.43 per woman (2017) a 2.37% decrease from the year prior and declining steadily. Replacement levels for a population are at roughly 2.1 births per woman, and Japan has not met that goal since 1974.

They do not have enough children being born to prevent the population from decreasing and having an increasing number of elderly who require care from their last baby boom. New people aren’t being brought up or trained fast enough to fill their workforce or to care for the rapidly aging population.

PM Abe tried all sorts of wild shit, funding essentially hentai OVAs, providing baby funding, pushing a campaign of increased government child care resources that have largely fallen flat (they are already building up extensive waiting lists despite promises to provide free child care for every child in Japan in an effort to further incentive baby making).

Tokyo based firms began constructing marriage hunter apartments with stripper poles in the bathrooms to promote sexuality and try to encourage some baby making, to no avail.

Shinzo ‘Cum Inside’ Abe has ignored the actual problems with Japans corporate culture that require excessive overtime and dedication to the wellbeing of the company being completely at odds with cultivating any sort of social ties.

There’s no time, and when there is time there’s no energy left for child rearing. If there’s time and energy, their depressed wages ensure that there is no money and overcrowded city micro apartments mean there’s no space.

The sysyem is fundamentally broken and no amount of tax credits or free child care will make up for the implicit disincentivizations at a societal level for anything except working in your cubicle until you drop dead.

TL;DR

Shinzo Abe was very bad at acknowledging the actual flaws in society that make child rearing hard and drive down birth rates and thought he could fix it with tax credits and anime tiddies. Did not work.

This always drives me up a wall… Fucking Shinzo ‘Cum Inside’ Abe is so disgusting. “Why aren’t more people having children?” I WONDER WHY??? What could it possibly be? Everyone is so focused of working harsh, long days and being told for years to give their all to companies. Most don’t have the chance to start a family in the corporate world Japan created.

Depression and suicide rates have been high for decades, from minors spending all their time in school to adults being worked to the bone, with little say or choice in the matter. Unless someone’s married into or comes from a wealthy family, having even a single baby can possibly end a career or dismantle their financial stability. Not only that, but most Japanese are constantly grinding like the system told them to. Being able to spend a few hours doing karaoke is a blessing for some.

The low birth-rates won’t change by trying to use anime/hentai to push people into having unprotected sex. And can you stop using teenage girls or ones that appear to be that age? You have no idea how damaging that’s been for Japanese in and out of the country. Stop sexualizing minors and Asians. It’s caused me a lot of grief over the years, especially after moving to the US where guys are crazy about hentai and think we’re all like that. If the government wants to change the birth-rates, they need to start at the root of the problem. Corporate culture. Societal norms and restrictions. Financial issues and harsh employment. The close-minded older generation who runs everything and tries to suck the life out of the younger citizens. If you’re not working/being productive in some way, then you’re wasting time. That’s the mentality the government and culture tries to drive into everyone.

People are tired and unhappy from the world you created. Look at the numbers. The depression and suicide rates. So many people have undiagnosed mental illnesses and have little opportunity to focus on themselves. Everyone’s been told to suffer in silence and work hard or they’re lazy and useless. Make changes, give them some room to breathe and find what they want in life and the problem will start to work itself out. Government-funded hentai won’t fix everything. They just assume Japanese will do whatever we’re told and it’s not working out.

An employee of Japan’s largest advertising firm, Dentsu, jumped to her death in 2015. The cause was said to have been depression caused by overwork.

The case generated widespread attention and renewed calls to change the long working hours and illegal unpaid overtime highly common in Japan.

Dentsu’s CEO resigned over the controversy and the company was fined for violating labor standards as she had been reportedly forced to work 100 hours of overtime a month.

After the death, Dentsu made changes within the company, including turning off lights in the office at 10 p.m. in an effort to force employees to leave.

This is from a 2018 article, but it’s an English piece that helps illustrate what I’m trying to say. How is someone in their 20′s or 30′s supposed to raise a family in these conditions? Especially in crowded cities with small apartments? Japanese aren’t having more babies because it would be irresponsible. They wouldn’t have the time or energy to spend with their children, not including the financial strain. That would only increase undiagnosed mental illnesses, depression, and suicide.
