Maturing is realizing trans men are just women with internalized misogyny. Of course you would want to reject female anatomy and womanhood under a system that oppresses you for precisely that. Internalized misogyny is to be expected atp, but we should fight against it, not with it.

exercising and weight training can be a powerful form of feminist praxis. being able to assist other women, particularly our disabled sisters, is a powerful ability. similarly, we can work together to challenge patriarchal expectations surrounding the physical strength of women and encourage future generations of women and girls to view strength as something to be proud of. most importantly, in a patriarchal world where women's health is often tossed aside, it's crucial that we take care of our minds and bodies and refuse to sacrifice our health in the name of patriarchy!

please know that i am not an athletic trainer or dietician. i am a professional coach for youth and adult sports. i teach strength training to my athletes as well as conditioning/training for other athletic orgs near me. if you decide to work with a trainer and/or dietician and their advice conflicts with mine, take theirs! (and also maybe tell me so i can improve for my students!) i follow all of my own advice, but those guys have degrees in this stuff and i do not.

A standup comic named Paul Elia joked to an audience in Los Angeles last month about the newfangled Pride flag, which has in recent years replaced the better-known ârainbow flagâ at many LGBT events in America.Â
âIt has like six additional colors that represent the transgender and nonbinary community,â Elia enthused. âThey had gay Pride outside my house, and I was watching everybody .â.â. waving it around .â.â. And then I saw some people with the old gay flag. Is that, like, the gay confederacy,â Elia asked. âWhat if thereâs a gay civil war?âÂ
The audience chuckled but Elia was onto something. A movement is underfoot on both sides of the Atlantic to decouple the alphabet soup that has come to be known as âLGBTQ+.â
As rising numbers of old-fashioned LGBs see it, the âTâ â for transgender â and âQâ for queer, donât necessarily have much in common with gays and lesbians.Â
For these ideological reformists, the LGBTQ mash-up and community-wide obsession with trans issues is sowing confusion and chaos within politics and popular culture â eroding much of the progress sexual minorities have fought to achieve.

Their nascent efforts have led to a swell in both online and IRL activism thatâs pushing back against gender ideology and fueling a movement increasingly known as âLGB Without the T.âÂ
âWe feel shackled into this âumbrella termâ by organizations that are supposed to serve us but have actually turned against us,â explained Kate Barker, CEO of the London-based LGB Alliance, which was established in late 2019 to âââadvance the interests of lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals.â âIt has come to a point where many of us find ourselves forced into a relationship we never consented to and feel we cannot leave.âÂ
The conflict, as activists like Barker see it, is not merely about nomenclature.
The rising prominence of transgender and queer issues has resulted in a backlash against âmiddle-of-roadâ gay and lesbian political wins such as marriage equality and parental rights.

As topics affecting those who are transgender â such as restroom access and medical interventions â drown out endless headlines, gays and lesbians are losing the long-time allies that have helped secure crucial civil liberties.Â
There is ample data to support claims that radical elements are damaging public opinion of all LGBTs.
Earlier this year, a Gallup poll revealed that support for same-sex relationships fell from 71% to 64% in just one year â the largest single-year shift recorded in more than two decades.
The decline came in tandem with an increase in Americans who oppose changing oneâs gender â from 51% in 2021 to 55% this year.Â
The Gallup numbers follow a survey conducted last year by the Public Religion Research Institute which found that Americans are widely in favor of general nondiscrimination laws protecting LGBTs â eight in 10 back policies securing jobs, public accommodation, and housing â but that support erodes when special privileges for trans people, framed as ârightsâ by the researchers, enter the picture.

Some 61% oppose boys playing in girlsâ sports.
And even a quarter of Democrats surveyed responded negatively to questions specific to transgenderism.Â
Many in the community saw this shift coming. Back in January 2018 â barely a year into the Trump administration and three years after the Supreme Court legalized marriage equality â the conservative gay writer Andrew Sullivan wrote a piece for New York magazine about the encroachment of âgender ideologyâ into the larger gay-rights movement and its potential for community-wide blowback.Â
Rather than advocating for increased civil equality, Sullivan wrote, the movementâs rising obsession with trans issues had morphed into an overall âcritique of gender, masculinity, femininity, and heterosexuality.â
The concurrent expansion of LGBT into a never-ending tongue-tussle, Sullivan added, was only furthering the type of âideological polarizationâ that works against minorities, ârather than unwinds it.âÂ

Sullivan no longer writes for New York magazine, but his critique of transgender issues â and their now outsized place within the larger LGBT ideas-sphere â has never felt more prescient.
The Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light fiasco from earlier this year, for instance, was precisely the type of mainstream outcry Sullivan so presciently foreshadowed.Â
For those who want to ditch the T, the response from their own community has been swift and vicious. Along with allegations of âtransphobia,â many have reported death threats, doxing, online harassment, and physical violence.
âWeâre immediately branded as âright wing,âââ says Barker, âwhich is a total distortion of the truth.âÂ
Last summer, for instance, gay rights pioneer Fred Sargeant â who helped organize the first Pride march following the Stonewall Riots in 1969 â was viciously assaulted by a group of TQ+ activists at a Pride celebration in Burlington, Vt., for carrying a sign critical of gender ideology.

They stole his placard, knocked him to the ground, and poured coffee on him.Â
Like many who want to reconsider LGBT, Sargeantâs stance is not rooted in âtransphobia.â
âThe concern I have is that the movement that I knew, the gay liberation movement, has metamorphosized into a gender identity movement that is quite misogynistic, homophobic â values that I canât share,â Sergeant, 75, told reporters at the time. âI donât recognize it any longer.âÂ
Something similar happened to 34-year-old Texan Rob Van Leuven last year when he began posting his support for nixing the T on social media. Like many, Van Leuvenâs stance is rooted as much in biology as ideology.
Being gay is about same-sex attraction, being trans is anchored in an alternative gender identity â and the two are not necessarily aligned.

Still, gay men who reject interest in potential trans partners are quickly accused of spreading hate. âAll I said was gay men donât like [female body parts], which should be common sense,â Van Leuven said.Â
The result: Transgender activists embarked on a widespread doxing campaign suggesting Van Leuven was knowingly spreading HIV and making sexual advances toward minors. Van Leuven says heâs looking into legal recourse. With so much of the LGB-only movement taking place online â âdrop the Tâ videos on Tik-Tok, for instance, have been viewed over 7 million times aloneâ such experiences are becoming increasingly common.Â
Beyond the standard allegations of transphobia, transactivists like to claim that gays and lesbians âoweâ their existence â and civil rights â to trans people.
Their assertions, while lacking in historical precision, are rife with the type of identity politics and intersectionality that has come to define every contemporary political cause.Â
âQueer People of Color Led the L.G.B.T.Q. Charge, but Were Denied the Rewards,â proclaimed a New York Times headline from a few years back.
Indeed, according to this narrative, a âtrans woman of colorâ threw the first brick at Stonewall, igniting the June 1969 riot outside Manhattanâs Stonewall Inn that marked the beginning of the modern gay rights movement.Â
The trans person in question was Marsha P. Johnson, an African-American activist and self-identified drag queen.
By their own admission, Johnson â who died in 1992 â actually arrived at Stonewall a few hours after the riot first broke out.
Indeed, no one claimed otherwise until about a decade ago when the push to âelevateâ LGBT voices of color began to take root.Â

Nonetheless, the Johnson tale has all but replaced recorded fact â so much so that in 2020 New York changed the name of the East River State Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to the Marsha P. Johnson State Park.
An indication of things to come can be found on a sign at the parkâs entrance which informs visitors that it commemorates âTLGBQ+ acceptanceâ and the âTLGBQ+ community,â inserting the T to the front of the line.Â
Advocates of the T divorce date the rise of mass trans-prominence to the 1990s when queer theory â the academic concept that preaches biological sex and heterosexuality are merely social and cultural constructs â leached into the larger cultural arena.
Some say the trans takeover began in earnest in 1994, at the Third Annual International Conference on Transgender Law and Employment Policy in Houston.Â

It was there that transgender trailblazer Martine Rothblatt â a billionaire entrepreneur who built a robot version of her wife â told attendees, âIf we donât join with the current gay, lesbian, and other queer rights issues being proposed, then we might have to wait another 20 years for our own liberation.âÂ
In the US, snipping the T has proven an uphill and mostly informal battle.
But across the pond, the split has seen greater support.
The LGB Alliance, for instance, has received formal charity status, holds annual conferences, and is petitioning the British government to separate LGB from T in crucial census and data-gathering policies. Other British groups, like Get the L Out, have taken to marching in Pride parades carrying signs like âLesbian Not Queer.âÂ

One reason for their success in Britain, activists say, is the nationâs socialized health-care system which invites more scrutiny and accountability where gender issues are concerned.
Notably, the infamous Tavistock Center, an NHS-funded childrenâs gender clinic, closed last year after public outrage over medical interventions for transgender children.Â
High-profile cases like that of Allison Bailey have also aided public support for the LGB (sans T) cause in Britain.
Bailey, a London lawyer and black lesbian, won a lawsuit last year against her legal chambers after they announced she was under investigation for transphobia when she publicly questioned the ability to change sex.
The Bailey case, according to Barker, is emblematic of the âbroach no dissentâ ethos that permeates every element of the trans debate, which has only further alienated LGBs.Â

Still, the dizzying speed at which media and LGBT nonprofits have adopted trans ideology has left many LGBs bewildered, particularly when it took so long for gay rights to get off the ground.
Most crucially, the outsized focus on the trans community in many ways actually hurts trans people the most.Â
âThis entire debate has left trans people under scrutiny they never wanted in the first place,â says Barker. âThis conflict is setting everyone back â LGB or T,â she adds, âwhich is why the time has come for a divorce.â

Malcolm Michaels Jr. â aka "Marsha P. Johnson" â was neither "trans" nor instigator of the riot. Troons and gender loons took over formerly reputable gay orgs and used that stolen valor to rewrite gay history.
But the gay men and women who were actually there know better.

itâs funny because wouldnât an actual form of âself-careâ tell women as a class: you can take a break from shaving today, from make up, from styling your hair, from spending 3 hours getting your nails done, you donât need to worry about your skin today, you donât need any maintenance â you can just exist as a person, and not as a female body who is to be consumed
Real self care for women would be strength training for longevity (since our bodies start losing muscle rapidly as we age) and eating nourishing, healthy food. Also getting good, high quality sleep of 9-10 hours a night because that's actually the average hours of sleep we need.
why is women's potential for being bad people seen as the equivalent of men actually doing bad things en masse.
how does "women can rape too" become rhetorically equivalent to men actually being 99% of rapists? women could rape, but we don't. that's the entire problem with men. no one is forcing them to rape women or children, they are choosing to rape. it proves women are better people because we could rape and abuse children at the rates men do and yet women as a class choose not to.
why can't men as a class do the same?
very much follows the notion that women's language is violence, used to justify male violence against women. in this case, it's women's non-existent potential for violence that justifies male violence.
people now honestly think "oh she could have slapped him, she could have said some mean words, therefore him murdering her is justified." whether she actually hit him or said mean words is irrelevant.
as with most patriarchal reversals, facts don't matter, male feelings do.
