Ok so regarding the Neil Gaiman sitch this fucking sucks. Hard. Love stardust of all things.
But I feel the need to just remind y'all that Neil hasn't actually been charged with anything, or, more importantly, been found guilty of anything.
The court of public opinion is NOT helpful, Especially where the crime is so serious and potentially damaging and defamatory. (This includes damaging Scarlett and K).
Of course we all want to set our pitchforks and torches aflame and get the monster.
No smoke without fire I believe, but, burning his books and GO scorched earth style is not the way to go.
People seem to also forget that this has happened before - to a celebrity - who lost a lot but was absolutely innocent. Matthew Kelly. His name was dragged through the mud and he was chewed up FOR NO REASON. I'd also like to remind people it is possible for people, especially men, to be innocent.
Devils advocate on here but do you think it should be *that* easy for someone to kill everything for you because some third party dislikes your kink or politics? Your answer should be ABSOLUTELY NOT if you believe in democracy.
In the UK (at least) parliament drew up a proposal surrounding the Matthew Kelly case.
"In January 2003, Kelly was arrested by police over allegations of child sex abuse, which arose as part of Operation Arundel.[2] The following month he was cleared of all charges.[13][14] In response to his public arrest, and the later media fallout that drew public criticism, his treatment was raised as a motion in Parliament to consider "ways to protect the anonymity of those investigated until formally charged with an offence."[15] This was later debated within Parliament as part of a wider response to investigations into allegations of historical crimes.[16] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Kelly#:~:text=In%20January%202003,children.%5B17%5D.
So I truly believe that all suspects should be given ABSOLUTE anonymity until charges are brought.
I believe in women. I believe in victims.
but you'd better believe that I believe in legitimate investigations and juries more than I will ever believe some right-wing Tory podcast out to get him. (And they WERE - please look at the transcripts etc). if you're willing to believe in everything you read AND propaganda, especially clearly terf-ist right-wing stuff, you might just want to look into why you are.
And don't get me started on the amount of BDSM bollocks you're all not understanding and conflating into something else. BDSM is a kink. Rape is a crime. Different.
Regardless.
Just remember YOU are not the law and this has to be done correctly.
This. Fucking THIS!!! I am so disgusted with the GO fandom right now....
Barely 2 weeks ago they were putting him on a pedestal, telling him how his work inspired them en asking him advice on just about everything...
And now, because some backwater podcast is pointing a finger, the whole fandom made a quick 180 and is ready to nail him to the cross... Wtf even???
There's no proof (yet, I am aware) that these women are speaking truth.
On the contrary, there is definitive proof that the relationships were consensual.
You cannot withdraw consent after the fact just because you suddenly have regrets or decided you didn't like it... That's not how it works....
Until Neil's been charged with something, I'm not going to judge him on his private Kinks.
If the allegations are false, THAT MAKES NEIL THE VICTIM!!!
I've known so many women to lie with the intent to damage another person, that I do not automatically asume those 2 are truthful
For me, the timing is highly suspicious and the entire podcast reeks of moneygrabbing.
They went after David first, couldn't find any dirt, then turned to Neil.
If Neil proves guilty, then he deserved what's coming to him.
But fuck me, the selfish part of me hopes desperately this will not affect series 3 of Good Omens...
