i say this with nothing but adoration for both but it’s going to be really funny our antivan crow companions going from “random elf bought from a brothel by a rapidly declining house, immediately tries and fails to kill you” to “lucanis dellamorte, personally trained by his grandmother the first talon herself, the mage killer, the demon of minrathous”. your antivan crow you got from a shelter vs your best in show prizewinner

devastated at the idea of lucanis getting lumped in with our usual kind of mage haters because he’s “the mage killer”. he’s just good at his job and they let him kill slavers about it!!! he has these special senses for the fade it’s that he has the specific skillset for it not that he’s Being Weird about it

he’s NOT!!

in his short story appearance, he says he’s perfectly happy to be paid to kill “a bunch of racist blood mages”. not mages in general

he’s being referred to as a mage killer a) because he has a specific really cool ability to sense the thinned veil that helps him kill mage targets and b) because horrible tevinter mages, who don’t even fear the rest of the antivan crows, know enough to be terrified of him coming calling. nothing wrong with that!

he’s a skilled and hardened crow who immediately says “fuck the job”—that’s his actual line—and insists on helping elven slaves, even when it actively puts the mission and his own life at risk. he even goes way out of his way, taking risk and serious injury, to make sure the slaver who abused them has an ugly death not a quick one. it wasn’t what he was paid for, it was just because he hated what the guy did and decided he deserved it! he’s not the most well-adjusted guy ever, but he’s cool, and despite his profession and a life of abusive training, he has a heart. no need to jump to conclusions because of a tagline
