the twitter thread the artist created after this was one of the best situations i have ever seen in my whole life:
Somebody give this ignoramus a piece of actual shark skin and tell him to rub his face with it, let him find out just how “smooth” sharks really are.
Somebody did. I use it as a pillowcase because it’s so smooth.
But buddy.
Shark skin feels exactly like sandpaper. It is made up of tiny teeth-like structures called placoid scales, also known as dermal denticles. These scales point towards the tail and help to reduce friction from surrounding water when the shark swims. … In the opposite direction, it feels very rough like sandpaper.
((Here m8 https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/fish/discover/sharks/basics ))
Buddy. It’s smooth. The link you sent me led to a website that described how smooth they are. I dunno, maybe you don’t know how to read?
Buddy the article said sharks are rough
No it says they’re smooth
And that’s how you go on. You lay laughter over the dark parts. The more dark parts, the more you have to laugh. With defiance, with abandon, with hysteria, any way you can.

We were raised in, and exist in, a racist society.
Under these conditions: racism isn’t something you simply abstain from. Racism is something you must actively unlearn.

sometimes i just sit and think about ways a genie can grant wishes.
This is why Mr. Fry will always have a seat at my table.
Amen.
I was having a conversation about religion with this guy and he asked me what I would do if I got into heaven and had to sit next to God. I told him I wouldn’t take the seat.
Stephen Fry is Jewish by heredity, proudly so. Many Jews are atheist while still being Jewish. Judaism does not demand belief, there is an understanding that belief is not voluntary, not a choice, and that what one does in life, the way one treats others, is what’s important.
Being 18-25 is like playing a video game where you’ve skipped the tutorial and you’re just sort of running about with no idea how anything works
Being 25-30 is like later on in the game when you’ve figured out how things work, but have made poor leveling decisions along the way and are now horribly underpowered for what you’re supposed to be doing.
being 30-40 is like being locked into a bad build that you cannot change and having to play the same levels over and over again on the off chance you get lucky and beat the boss. And then there’s a harder level
