Americans- put your Thanksgiving Wokeness where Your Mouth is.
This is the website of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe.
These are the People who met the “pilgrims”.
In spite of this, the US government doesn’t fully acknowledge their sovereignty as a Tribal Nation, or human rights, or their right to live in their own home land.
They are trying to keep their last few scraps of land out of the greedy grabbing hands of the Tr^mp Administration.
Land is more than square footage. It’s ancestral sites, it’s the right to say ‘We live here and you can’t just throw us out when it’s convenient to you’, and it’s Family for generations, and it’s Home.
Donate to help them keep it, and to fund their community programs, education, healthcare, senior services and more.
Of note: part of the reason Mashpee Wampanoags & Mashantucket Pequots are overly discriminated against both legally & socially, including social discrimination from other indigenous communities at times, down to local derogatory nicknames, is their populations largely consist of Black NDNs.
The history of European colonizations in the Americas & the ways settlers constructed concepts of race has consistently established Blackness as a corruption & delegitimization of any other ethnic or cultural heritage, and while in some ways that forced the Black community (both during & after slavery) to expand & gel in a way it otherwise may not have done, the impact on Black Natives has consistently been to legally have indigeneity erased & “status” as an Indian “revoked.”
To this day some of the most visible examples of this history are the people & groups fighting for recognition of Freedmen descended from the Five Civilized Tribes in the American southeast, but this pattern of genocidal erasure of Blackness & of Black people & of Black culture & history from what and who is “allowed” to be Indigenous extends beyond “just” Indian Country to quite literally the entire hemisphere, coast to coast to coast.
Mashpee Wampanoags & Mashantucket Pequots have been fighting this same fight for sovereignty with up-and-down success for at least as long as I’ve been alive, though they’ve only made big-big news under the current administration’s undermining of tribal rights— and Native + First Nations communities have come together on the subject I think more out of both the precedent that potentially sets for everyone else & the heightened visibility of social media in the 2010s-2020+ than any especial dedication to them as Nations… because this was not the vibe towards them at all in the ‘80s-'90s, even from other Native crowds.
So when you talk about supporting people, don’t ONLY think of it in terms of spiting Trump, or of who met which pilgrims or settlers of conquistadors when & where— and don’t forget the people you say need tbat support once the Trump moment passes, or lose all this beautiful intertribal sentiment once you see photos of folks not looking like woodcarvings of Squanto. Don’t forget who was quiet before but loud now & pay attention to who gets quiet again once legal changes do or don’t start getting underway. Pay attention to if & when “supporters” of these tribes don’t rock with BLM, or go back to calling them nasty names at other pow-wows, because Black NDNs & their welfare only “counts” if what they’re going through COULD happen to other Indians, too.
This is structural & deliberate, and if folks refuse to acknowledge why, they pave the way for it to happen again and for “acceptable targets” to continue to be swept under the rug, even racially “undesirable” “acceptable targets” within already marginalized groups, whether designated as such by outsider/oppressor genocide efforts, by intracommunity bigotry, or, shamefully, willingly designated as such by both.
I would love to see the anti immigration conservatives do this for at least 30 mins..
Donate: We can’t do Thanksgiving without farm workers
Friendly reminder that most farm workers are paid nearly nothing via loopholes (don’t have to follow minimum wage if you arent paying by the hour!)
And that “unskilled labor” isn’t an actual thing. It’s just used by desk jockeys who play on the internet all day instead of working so they feel superior to everyone who actually does the work they profit off of. And of course, to make themselves feel better for the abuse they dish out.

Sometimes I draw comics where the characters are just nice to each other.
This is nice.
I very much like the concept of scary fantasy monsters doing wholesome things and just hanging out.

LETS PLAY A GAME. It’s called: Who directed it TIM BURTON or HENRY SELICK
We’ll start with the 2009 Laika film Coraline based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. Do you know who directed it? Burton or Selick?
Did you guess yet?
If you guessed Henry Selick, you would be correct. Tim Burton actually had absolutely nothing to do with Coraline at all in anyway ever. Reminder: Tim Burton has NOTHING to do with Coraline. At all. But that was an easy one. Let’s go to the Walt Disney Pictures adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel, James and the Giant Peach next.
Think you got it? Are you sure? Better double check…
Oh, look. It’s Henry Selick again! Tim Burton actually interacted with this project, though only as a producer. Bet that was tricky… Next one! Let’s go to the Disney/Touchstone Pictures film Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Have you guessed it correctly? Have you really?
Yep that’s right. Even Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Henry Selick. Though Burton wrote the poem and created the characters in which Nightmare was based he didn’t have much interaction with the project beyond that. At the time he had already signed off to direct the film Batman Returns and did not want to be involved with the “painstakingly slow process of stop-motion animation.”
Looks like it was a trick quiz. But now you know Henry Selick, whom people rarely know of is responsible for many of the most well known stop-motion animated films. The more you know!
This isn’t even being qeued. This is just being reblogged, because some of you still don’t understand who directed Coraline.
You guys don’t understand, Henry Selick was so happy and so incredibly nice and grateful that there was a festival solely dedicated to the art of Stop Motion and that he was an invited guest. He was treated like a superstar in his craft, and he was absolutely surprised.
All stop motion animators were actually. So please please please, appreciate this guy and his hard work in his key role at keeping stopmotion animation alive and well today.
I found this on Facebook and it's actually super important:

The Church has had four great deaths in history, one about every five hundred years. The first was the Fall of Rome that so disturbed St. Jerome that he thought the end of the world had come. St. Augustine spent eighteen years writing his City of God explaining why Rome had fallen. The second death was the advance of Muslims which destroyed the Church in Northern Africa and also the Eastern Schism. The third death was at the time of the Reformation when reformers reformed dogmas, when it was morals that needed to be changed. We are in the fourth death of the Church where the enemy is not the Huns, schismatics, heretics, but the world in which the Church lives.
During these five-hundred-year cycles, the Church was attacked in different ways. During the first cycle of five centuries, the Church had to combat heresies centering around the Historical Christ: His Person, His Nature, Intellect and Will. In the second cycle it was the Visible Head of the Church who was denied. In the third cycle it was the Church or the Mystical Body of Christ that was split up into sections or sects. In our day, the attack is secularism and is directed against holiness, sacrifice and self-denial and kenosis. The new enemy of the Church is ecological; it pertains to the environment in which she lives. The challenge hurled now to the faithful is “Are you with it?”—“it” always remaining anonymous and undefined. For that reason it is closely related to the demonic. For God defines Himself as “I am Who am.” The Devil defines himself as “I am who am not.”

What advice would you give women struggling to find their self-worth?
I wonder why they named the cat “Derpy McMilkface” (via derpymcmilkface)
Please note: the milk he’s drinking is cat-safe, tis formulated for cats and is lactose-free.
He’s got the spirit, but I 5hink he needs a bit more practice.
I accidentally created the most soothing drink in the world after trying to recreate the hot honey drink in Ponyo! I guarantee it will remove all stress and troubles, I’ve had like 3 today because it makes me so happy
I JUST MADE THIS AND IT’S SO TASTY *(*´∀`*)☆ omgggg ♥ ♥ ♥
Tried immediately after reading this: confirmed to be delicious.
I know it sounds kind of weird, but it’s mild and sweet and just the right temperature for immediate consumption in any weather. Definitely give it a try!

Jesus Christ was a brown Jew in the Middle East, conceived out of wedlock in an arguably interracial if not interspecies (deity and human) relationship, raised by his mother and stepfather in place of his absent father. He may not have had a Y chromosome. He spent his early youth as a refugee in Egypt, where his family no doubt survived initially on handouts from the wealthy (You think they kept that gold, frankincense, and myrrh from the wise men? Hell no, they sold that stuff for food and lodging). He later returned with his parents to their occupied homeland and lived in poverty.
The religion of Jesus’s people has no concept of a permanent hell and instructed its priests on how to induce miscarriages. Jesus explicitly rejected the concept of disability as a divine punishment. He spoke out against religious hypocrites. He had enough respect for women to let his mother choose the time of his first miracle. He blessed a same sex couple. He told a rich man that he must give up his wealth to get to heaven, and also told a parable about a rich man suffering in agony in presumably Gehinnom (basically Purgatory) just to hammer the point home. He told people to pay their taxes. He declared “love your neighbor” to be one of the two commandments on which all laws hang. He commanded his followers to help the poor. He commanded them to help the sick and the needy. He spent time with social outcasts. He healed the servant of a high priest during his arrest rather than fighting back. He was put to death by the occupying government because he was a political radical.
Trump and his administration are xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, fear-mongering, warmongering, tax-dodging, anti-Semitic, anti-choice, anti-welfare, anti-equal pay, anti-LGBTQIA+, anti-immigration, support tax cuts for the rich, support Citizen’s United, want to keep refugees out of this country, want to limit our ability to speak against the government, plan to abolish the Affordable Care Act, and they wrap all of that up behind a banner of “Christian family values.” If you support them, you have no right to call yourself a follower of Christ.
If you’re in a relationship, and you are afraid to tell your friends about something that your partner did to you because you are afraid they will think badly of your partner, that’s a red flag.
