Upon looking at my account for the first time in ages, I've realized that perhaps my description has not aged well. In the time of TikTok newspeak, people might interpret my enthusiasm as being for something other than what it is.

To clarify, I am a huge fan of corn, which you might know as "maize". It is a grain crop native to the Americas - more specifically what is now Mexico - and a staple food in many cultures. It can be ground into cornmeal or processed into masa, starch, syrup, or alcohol. It is also used as animal feed. A variety called sweet corn is harvested before it dries out and eaten as a vegetable.

Hi, my name is James Webbony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Space Telescope and I am a telescope in space (that's how I got my name) and I have a five-layer aluminum-coated Kapton sunshield protecting my instruments and gold-coated hexagonal primary mirror segments like limpid tears and a lot of people tell me I look like Lady Gaga (AN: if you don't know who she is, get the hell out of here!). I'm not related to the Hubble Space Telescope, but I wish I was because he's a major fucking hottie. I'm an infrared telescope but I am much larger than Spitzer. I have 18 primary mirror segments. I also study exoplanets, and I go to a telescope school in L2 where I'm in orbit (I was launched in 2021). I can see distant galaxies (in case you couldn't tell) and I wear mostly gold. I love space, and I take all my photos there. For example, today I was taking a photo of the Cartwheel Galaxy, which is about 500 million light years away. I was using my NIRcam, NIRspec, MIRI, and FGS-NIRISS. I was walking outside L2. It was around 1 million miles away from Earth and there was no sun, which I was very happy about. A lot of preps stared at me. I unfolded my primary mirrors at them.

There have always been people scared of clowns, right? And if you saw a clown just walking around, especially at night, it might freak you out.

So, in 2016, there were some pictures going around of a clown wandering like a parking lot at night somewhere in Wisconsin or Minnesota, I forget which. This ended up being promo for some movie.

"Clown sightings" started popping up all over, though, with the clowns being places they don't belong and often acting suspiciously (trying to lure kids away, for example). I believe at one point someone got stabbed.

Anyway, there were nationwide and even international consequences - clown costumes got bought up, retailers stopped offering them, everyone with anything to do with clowns made a statement (including Stephen King), and Ronald McDonald was mostly pulled out of McDonald's advertising. People were genuinely scared for their children's lives that Halloween. Additionally, many schools took precautions - clown sightings nearby would result in lockdowns, and (in my area) students were forbidden from using outdoor walkways for the duration.

Some people thought it was a conspiracy, others thought it was promo for the 2017 IT remake, but it ended up just being random disconnected people trying to freak out the public.
