Three Life-Long Lessons to Remember #2
Do you need a reminder of what is important in life? How about the proper way to handle a situation when feeling angry or stressed? If so, you have come to the right place. If you know these bits of information already, just remember its important to be reminded every now and again. So, without further adieu, here are three life-long lessons to remember #2.
1. Money Isn’t Everything
Wouldn’t it be nice if tomorrow, you won the lottery? The sheer joy you’d feel would probably be something you’ve never experienced before. What would you do with the money: buy a house, go on an exotic vacation, quit your job? When this type of pleasure flows over you, the possibilities feel endless. No matter what you do, being financially free would make you happy, at least for a while. Eventually, you would want something more than just financial freedom. Having money is great, but what are you going to do with your money and newly acquired spare time?
We need a purpose to be truly happy, not just wealth. We desire companionship, experience, making memories, all of which are not obtainable through wealth alone. We want to learn and feel important. All of this can be done without having an obscene amount of wealth. I am not saying the money wouldn’t make you happy, I am saying it would only go so far. So, remember that there is more to life than making money. You can live a great life without being wealthy as long as you allow yourself to do so. Do not think of money as the end all be all.
What do you want to accomplish, and what has to change in your life to succeed? Many of us would say we lack motivation or have other priorities. I say this way of thinking is the reason why you are not achieving what you want to achieve. Mind over matter is a powerful piece of advice. People can do much more than they believe. The problem is their thoughts often cloud their judgment. Whether it be a lack of confidence, lack of motivation, or believing there is not enough time in the day, this way of thinking will always keep you where you are. Breaking this cycle is the key to success. Plan however you must, but remember there is always a way. It really comes down to your mindset.
We’ve all been in a situation where we want to scream and yell in anger. Whether it be people or a situation that causes this doesn’t matter. Anger will get us nowhere and often make the problem worse. Kindness is key and will ‘keep the peace’ so to speak. Think of someone you have had problems with in the past. What would yelling at them do? Would it resolve the problem or would it just make things awkward? The second result would most likely be the case. Not only that, but you would feel bad for getting angry towards someone else. If we are kind, not only do we calm ourselves down, but the problem will most likely reveal itself for what it is, mundane and over-exaggerated. Most of the problems we face in life end up being things we forget the next day. It’s better to be kind and let the anger subside than explode over something that will not bother you tomorrow.
