there is no medical component to a trans kid transitioning
if a little trans boy comes out to his parents & is like 4 all youd do for his transition is cut his hair, buy a new wardrobe, & switch pronouns & possibly change names
no one is gonna put a little 4 year old on testosterone OR puberty blockers until theyre actually about to start puberty & then they give them a few years to really decide if they want to start hormones
a trans kid existing isnt “child abuse.” child abuse is refusing to let your kid live their lives as they truly are & forcing them to present as a gender they arent
radfems who interact with this post will be blocked & your argument will not be read or even considered. i do not care about the opinion of a transphobe & my original post still stands.
a few years ago a kid in my preschool class transitioned socially and the only consequence was that as soon as her best friend discovered that changing your name is allowed she wanted to change hers to Detective
So stay with me here, but fun ballet fact: part of the reason you’re supposed to start ballet young is so you stretch and hold your joint in certain ways regularly enough that your body grows different. You know how men who do ballet look only sort of muscular but then like lift a whole ass person? Their muscles are trained to lie flat like that for flexibility, they don’t bulk up. Girl in your class who always stands in turnout? It’s likely not just habit, her joints probably sit like that now.
I started ballet when I was six and stopped after three years. I then took a break for three years, and came back and did jazz ballet (which has most of the same body mods but without turnout) and tap for another couple of years. And every physio who works on my body looks at my feet, hips and calves and goes “oh you danced”. I was never even flexible enough to do the splits, but you best believe I stand in turnout. I never went en pointe, but I’m 95% sure tap is the reason my feet have random spasms if I don’t take to them with a tennis ball once a week.
When I said I wanted to be a dancer at six years old, adults took that to mean I’d want certain permanent alterations to my body. Unlike with young trans kids, no one was looking to make sure I fully understood what I was getting into. And unlike with young trans kids, these changes were not reversible when I changed my mind. There wasn’t even a way to delay things to buy time (like puberty blockers), it was all or nothing. If I wanted to be a professional dancer, my normal ass joints were a ticking timebomb.
So like ~cis opinion~, but I really don’t have a lot of time for people getting feral about trans kids socially transitioning or going on blockers or even (when they’re old enough for it be relevant) hrt. Me “identifying” as a dancer at six years old was more physically impactful and less informed than if a six year old changed their name and grew their hair, but you don’t see any of the adults in my life getting accused of child abuse.
I'm fed up with "maybe later".

People love to talk about whether or not disabled people can work
but if you can work just fine and your disability is destroying your ability to have a life outside of work (because work takes all your energy and more)
Dead silence. Nobody cares.
File this under, oh you can be active for 4 hours? You can work part-time. Um no, I have to get ready for work (30 min) get to work (15 min) get home from work (15 min) feed myself all day (30 min) maintain myself, my home and my life (15 min, yeah right), which leaves 15 min for work and absolutely nothing else.
This is so accurate, back after I’d relapsed I wanted to try and go in for one class at school so I could still stay in contact with the education system. I let slip during a meeting that I managed to drag myself to that I could manage about 4 hours of activity a week, which the teacher sprang on to mean I was being lazy for just trying to get to 1 hour class. Never matter that it was 30 minutes travel, that I would have to get washed and dressed, that I would probably still need to recover for 3 days from it.
Far too often abled people see the things they do easily as “non activities”, they don’t realise that for many disabled people these things have to be carefully planned and measured, and sometimes they simply can’t be done.
reblog bc the non activities thing seems really important words
I get X number of pain-free steps per day right now, which means that, for large conventions (like SDCC), I need to be in a mobility device. I had someone ask if I used up my steps every day before transferring to the scooter, and look surprised and a little horrified when I said “no, I save them so I can go to the bathroom unassisted.” Like, they had never considered that walking is involved in peeing.
Reblogging for the important point that the term “activity” may mean something very different and much broader for a disabled person with a chronic pain or fatigue related condition compared to its meaning for a non disabled person. If you’re tired enough, simply sitting up in a chair rather than lying in bed is an activity that drains energy otherwise usable for other things. A thing I knew from other people with pain and fatigue related conditions, but worth reinforcing for followers who didnt know or had forgotten.

Hey I have a question for the community
Who is nightlife render dj man and why is literally nothing he wearing in the actual game?
I think that in real life…. Relationships r like . Your partner WILL ‘trauma dump’ on you. You will have to perform ‘emotional labor’ for your partner. Your partner will make mistakes. You will also do all of these things. The very nature of love is irrational and problematic and difficult …. To expect a relationship to be free of these things is strange to me…. The point is that your relationship to that person is ultimately worth it, and worth growing with them, helping each other, seeing the worst parts of another person and being able to love them anyway
There's a book I read years ago about marriages that last vs. ones that don't, and the Big Secret wasn't how much conflict or stress they had in them. It was how often each partner made little attempts at repair--whether apologies, letting things go, willingness to poke a bit of fun at themself for getting Super Mad over something silly, whatever--and how receptive each partner was to them.
If you're willing to forgive each other and get past things, your relationship lasts. If you're not, it doesn't.
Not all relationships SHOULD last. Not everything should be forgiven. But the key is how committed you are to getting past things together, NOT how many times issues come up or how similar or different you are.

Hey. Don't fucking use Shutterstock.
So. I'm in deep shit because Shutterstock has no cancel plan button. Let me explain. Long story short, tried a free trial and tried to cancel after the free month was over. I called, they helped me cancel my account.
And then I got charged. Again.
So I call again. I think it gets cancelled again.
And then I get charged again. And I call again, get it cancelled. Repeat.
Keep in mind, I'm a fucking college student. I don't have much money to begin with. At all. My only money is for testosterone, groceries, and emergencies, and OCCASIONALLY one nice thing every like. 3 or 4 months.
So I email them, after continuously trying to get ahold of them for 8. Months.
And I get this.
Read that closer, folks.
They're charging me for the months worth of trying to cancel, thinking it was fine, and then trying to cancel again, only to be lied to.
Don't use this shit. I thought I was getting a free trials and then was gonna cancel, and instead I've had money charged every 3 months, and then told I have to pay 160 dollars for the shit I already paid for.
I know this ain't yelp but like. Fuck this bullshit.
IM FUCKING SORRY????
I tried to delete my payment method.
I am going. To explode.
This happened to me once and I literally just shut off my card. Is that an extreme response? Maybe. But it was easier than the bureaucracy.
If you can, I think it would be worth sending a complaint to the FTC, especially as you have a lot of what they would ask for already. They might not be quick, but they're typically the regulators that do something about subscription fraud.

It might not immediately resolve your issue, but it might help stop them from robbing others in the future
Yeah all of this seems super illegal
Hey, just so you know, if any company pulls something like this, you can go to your bank and have them issue a stop payment. That will block any future chargers.
I had to do that with my mom a couple of times after she subscribed to home delivery of some snake oil that they wouldn't cancel. Remember, you are your bank's customer and they will generally try to help with issues like this.
