Raj nodded at Kayleigh’s words. “I guess that is fair. I am hoping the trip is going to be relatively pain free, but I can’t promise something unexpected won’t happen.”  He added as he doubted his family was going to give her a hard time or something. 

Kay looked over to Raj as the car stopped at his parents house, “Well, Here goes nothing, right?” She let out a light laugh as she unbuckled her seatbelt and reached down to grab her purse, and then her coffee. “Let’s do this.”

“it seemed to be the best option — for both of us. it didn’t seem like something that could be talked out,” aviva sighed, manicured nails raking through her hair. “besides, it’s not exactly like you tried to stop me.”

“Well it wasn’t the best option, its the worst.” he spoke simply, his hand leaning against his mouth for a moment. “I’m in love with you Ave. I did fucking try, you refused to answer me. I called, texted, i stopped by your place but you were never there and Amy would never tell me where you were. I tried, over and over again.” He sighed, looking to the blonde “You clearly moved on, i’m fucking in love with you and have to watch you with some other guy, it’s such bullshit.”

“well, obviously i lied. didn’t you just hear me say i lied?” he had tried to get sober, but as he had expected.. it didn’t work. it wasn’t hollie’s fault, and he should’ve talked to her. he wasn’t sure why he didn’t.. maybe it was shame. maybe it was just easier if he was the angry asshole pushing her away. “what good would that’ve done, huh??” 

The words he spoke stung, she hated how he had been an asshole to her but she didnt know what else to do. “Well if you had spoken up, i could have helped you. You know i have resources that could have helped you get sober and stay that way, My aunt is the head of the local NA and AA meetings, she could be a great bit of help,”

the way she repeated his words as if she were preparing a list caused a light chuckle to slip from stirling’s lips. he was grateful that she was willing to do all of this for him. especially at the last minute. “umm, probably this weekend. just to beat the holiday rush and all.” he replied. “is that okay?”

“Sounds perfect to me!” Kayleigh smiled over to Stirling. “I’m looking forward to having your family like me better than they like you.” She nudged his side with her elbow. “I’m gonna get out of here, but i’ll see you when you come pick me up.” Kay smiled to the male before heading out.

“sounds good to me.” he said, not pressing the subject. enzo knew all too well what it was like to not want to go home and if she wanted to open up, she would. the man shut the door for her and quickly got in on his own side. “well mads” he started, coming up with a nickname for her all his own. “i’ve got a freshly rolled blunt in the ashtray and a tank full of gas.” enzo took a peek over his shoulder before pulling away from the spot. “hows a cruise sound?”

Maddie couldn’t remember the last time she just rode around for fun, let alone smoked. Now that she thought about it, she had only ever eaten edibles to get high, never smoked. “Honestly, I’ve only ever gotten high off of edibles.” she let out a nervous laugh as she let her bag rest at her feet.

as the song came to an end violet was a bit saddened that she would have to separate from his embrace. so when the offer arose to join him outside she didn’t need to think on it. the drink he had in mind probably differed from hers. the bride had specifically ordered vi a keg of red bull and a bottle of sparkling juice for toasts. “air sounds lovely.” she said after a very brief pause. 

The male slid his hand to her lower back as he guided her towards the venues door, taking her outside into the garden area of the reception. His eyes shutting for a moment as he drew in a deep breath of the crisp evening air. “Are you okay? Truthfully?” San asked, “Don’t lie to me Mariposa.”

brunettes   head   slowly   turns   to   meet   the   gaze   of   blonde   femme   ,   giggling   as   their   eyes   meet   .   sabine   wasn’t   entirely   surprised   that   they   were   ditched   ,   shaking   her   head   as   she   laughs   once   more   .   “hey   ,   we   have   each   other   !   i   bet   we’ll   have   much   more   fun   without   them   .”

“Well, I’m Kayleigh,” she introduced herself after drinking from her cup that contained vodka and soda. “Let’s just make the most of our night then?” she suggested, downing the drink and holding out a hand to the brunette.

“Good, I am glad. I know it is a bit of short notice, but I do appreciate it.” Raj said as she knew that it was a big ask. He meant what he said when he would owe her one. “I really am lucky, aren’t I? And I hope you know that I will do whatever you want to make it up to you.”

“Let’s get through this trip, then we can talk about you making it up to me.” Kay let out a light laugh at her own thoughts “Depending on how this whole ordeal goes will determine the whatever i want,” Her eyes giving a playful look as the thought of what to pack.

so he knew. or at least he knew a little bit – hopefully this was the last conversation they’d be having on the topic and she wouldn’t have to get into just how rough her time was when she was out running the streets as her mother said. the smell of him was intoxicating and she suddenly felt younger. like time had rewound and they were at the prom. “no, that’s ended in flames just like everything else i touch.” she teased, self deprecation her biggest go to. “he was looking for a more docile woman.”

The tension from what he said was enough for him to not pry or ask any further questions about what has happened in that sense since they saw one another last. “Well i can say one thing about all of that..” he stepped back and spun her around, “I’m still here and standing strong. Always have been here you just haven’t seen it. You’ve always been one of my friends even if we stopped speaking for a while. Linzey has been helping me keep up with you to make sure you were okay.” He smiled, licking his lips as the song ended, “How about we go grab a drink and some air?”

enzo wasn’t that far away, having already headed that way before he had waited to hear her response. the blonde man smiled to himself at the red light when he got her text. a few minutes later he was pulling up directly in front of where she stood, cutting off the creeps who were on a direct path for her. “your chariot, m’lady.” he said, exiting the vehicle and quickly jogging to her door before she could open it herself. his eyes met the other men for a moment before turning back to her. “where to?” he asked once he was inside the driver’s seat again.

The brunette quickly slid the strap back up her shoulder of her bag as she moved swiftly past the creepy older men and got into the blonde’s car, a laugh leaving her lips at his words. “We can go anywhere, honestly. I just don’t wanna go home.” She wanted to avoid going home to her little run down studio she was just able to afford while trying to save up for a car and a better place.

“sounds perfect.” stirling chuckled out. “but i should warn you not to get too clingy or i might get used to having you on my arm.” was he teasing or flirting? even he didn’t know. “yeah i think jeans are a good option. the get togethers are always pretty casual with my family. so you can just wear whatever makes you comfortable.”

“Don’t get too clingy, got it. she teased, a smile on her lips as she knew she had to play the holidays out just right and make this whole sham believable. “Jeans and a sweater, got it.” she smiled, “When do we need to leave to be on time?”

“I have good ideas once in a while” Kayleigh laughed lightly. She was on board to see his family since it had been so long. “Beach, shorts tanks and bikini gotcha.” She smiled over to the olde male, “when do we leave out?”

“That is why you really were the best person to ask.” Raj said. He knew that he could trust her to have good ideas but also make things believable. It also helped that she already knew background information about his family so he didn’t need to teach her all of that stuff. “I guess that depends on when you are arrival to go.”

“Well I just have to pack up a suitcase and i can be ready not long after!” Kay smiled over to Raj, knowing this was going to be fun and only they knew their secret. “Thank god you have a friend who would do anything for you,” She teased.
