February 25, one year ago, was when I posted my first BG3 render. It was of my lovely OTP and their badges. I jumped into Blender in wanting to try a new hobby, way before Patch 8’s photo mode came to the game. I was hesitant to post it at first, I didn’t think I’d make it far if things become difficult.
But I learned to trust the process, and to not be harsh with my abilities when I wanted the best results. I wanted to make BG3 renders for fun, even if it took a lot of time and patience to make it ‘perfect’.

Despite continuing to make numerous renders of Rugan and Geraldus together, I’ve had curious viewers anticipate their story! It’s such a unique rarepair, I’m not surprised that I’m the ship’s only captain steering through the tides of fandom.
I actually have a fanfic about them on AO3 (under the same username). There’s only the first chapter, but currently rewriting it because I’m a bit more harsh on myself with that medium. Despite that, allow me to give you two hints of their relationship!
A Harper and a Zhent are bound to be enemies due to their contrasting alliances. But this isn’t enemies-to-lovers, their secret fling brings issue with their (former) organizations, which risks more than just their bond, it’s also their lives.
Their dynamic was inspired by Bill and Frank from “The Last of Us” Episode 3. Because of the emotional drive with their relationship, I wanted to apply it to Rugan and Geraldus. I find it more appealing to ‘round their edges’ so that it’s not just a story about a “cocky smuggler” and a “naive recruit”. They’ve witnessed a lot of bad things, come to terms with each other’s dilemma, and rely on each other to continue to survive.
