I got an extremely bad feeling about TVL after I watched episode 1 and 2. I see all of the ppl getting angry over it now that it's done.
I'm wondering if I should even watch it now? Ngl I loved book Lestat and HATE show Lestat. My only wishes for season 3 were:
-Scaaaary Magnus
-Armand and Lestat scenes
-THE BALLROOM SCENE W ARMAND
-The Children of Darkness
-Nicki going crazy
I highkey don't want to see Louis and Claudia get tortured AGAIN and again, from what I've seen people say. I also got rlly bored from the Lestat documentary thing he was making. ShowLestat isn't as slay queen as he thinks...
Should I watch
yes
no
hate watch
(nine inch nails hurt)
note: i started drawing this before s3 so obviously no s3 events are included (and honestly idgaf)
based on a friend's comment on one of my older posts hhskskj i accidentally quoted this song and then decided i should do it not accidentally..
it is that deep. the mischaracterisation of armand is that deep. i wish for everyone to realise what great disservice the writers have done to his character with their racist storytelling. armand has been described in the show as something repulsive, something without a presence, a fuck cloud and a rotten thing, something boring to death and insipid, something that cannot be loved and something that provokes a reaction of strong disgust in many other characters; lestat was genuinely stunned that louis deemed armand a companion-material. let that sink in.
some will try to argue that all those remarks are only targeted at his evil deeds. unfortauntely that is not true. in the books, however scared or repulsed lestat was by some of armand's actions, he still found him beautiful. he still described him with very reverent language. that was the core of it: everyone desired armand. that was why he suffered so much. everyone treated him like a pretty conquest. at the beginning of tva david talbot literally out of the blue started playing with his hair and sniffing them. it was the most dehumanising desire, that always showed the truth: he was too beautiful for this world.
this is how marius described armand in blood and gold: "And there I saw beauty, beauty which has always been my downfall, beauty in a new and celestial form. Heaven had cast down upon this stone floor an abandoned angel, of auburn curls and perfectly formed limbs, of fair and mysterious face. His soft reddishย hair was loose and tangled. His flesh was pale and the bones of his face only faintly sharpened by his Slavic blood."
"This was a boy, as I had said, and he had a head of long curly hair. But his face was shining white, and perfect, the countenance of a god it seemed, a Cupid out of Caravaggio, seductive yet ethereal, with auburn hair and dark brown eyes."
more quotes from books here:
so on what grounds is armand getting so much verbal humiliation in the show? all i see is that the writers for the third time in a row focused on his 'weird' side, his 'gremlin' side, his 'evil and crazy' side, while... completely ditching the rest of the picture. why is it that no one has called him beautiful yet? why is he being so perpetually degraded, so belittled and debased verbally? because to me it screams fucking racism, it screams to me all those writers sitting and scribbling their notes about armand and never once admitting to themselves that assad is beautiful, that this bangladeshi man could be described in such a way, that he could actually be considered that. his screentime got radically reduced this season, they literally cut parts of tvl where his character was of paramount importance and any time armand was on screen, we were just given the following messages: he's weird!! he's crazy!! he's evil!! he's desperate!! while completely disregarding the rest. it is a deeply rooted, unconscious racism that genuinely terrifies and saddens me and i truly have no idea how these scripts made it air.
Heaven calls me
Hi I haven't posted in ages have my lovely angel who does no wrong (obviously)
Picknick in Prehevil
Reading The Vampire Armand and its only chapter 1 but I have THOUGHTS
The way Marius calls Armand โyoung oneโ ๐ฌ Just the absolute fetishization of his youth, and the way itโs something Armand is likeโฆ clearly insecure about, but not always consciously aware of
Armand thinking of Marius as a โgentlemanโ because he keeps a โpolite distanceโ between them
Armand having this underlying discomfort around Marius he doesnโt register on a conscious level. Armand has SO many feelings that are constantly bleeding out of him in different ways, and heโs not able to put a name on any of them
Armand not wanting to stay at Mariusโ house, telling him he doesnโt know who he is right now, asks Marius not to ask this of him. Marius agreeingโฆ and then immediately (the next page!) wheedling and guilt-tripping Armand into coming anyway. Marius wins of course โ Armand promises heโll come that night, seemingly completely unaware of the manipulation. And hell, it might not be a manipulation - Marius is scatterbrained as fuck. But still!
Armand daydreaming about non-consensually drinking Davidโs blood, thinking to himself โthere is no such fun on Earth like the raping of an equalโ (interesting itโs specifically about an equal here, considering the way he was raped as a slave child, and how he calls Marius โsirโ and โmasterโ), and then immediately feeling guilty about thinking that, and thinking to himself โrape is unmanlyโ
He struggles to imagine women being cruel. He does think theyโre sort of boring though
Again, he has SO much barely-repressed trauma thatโs just a scratch away from bleeding through. He gets uncomfortable without knowing why when David being a โtall manโ is holding a little girlโs dress
Heโs prone to seemingly โrandomโ tangents, but so many of these are actually the result of his trauma getting triggered by more benign conversations. He doesnโt realize whatโs happening, and almost invariably apologizes for being weird
Him wanting a big, strong, slovenly, violent human to feed on
Armand is a very old and powerful vampire, but people are justโฆ so entitled to treat him like a toy. David grabs him and kisses him and tells him how young and girlishly pretty he is, how heโd have loved to see how he was back in the day with Marius, and Armand tells himself heโs into it, but also clearly resents it too and goes off on a tangent about how everyone wants to ravage little boys the most out of anyone
The way he loves Benji and Sybelle so damn bad, and desperately wants them to grow up. And the way thatโll never happen, because Marius turns them without asking Armand for permission. So fucked up! Benji being twelve years old too โ five years younger than Armand, and Armand already has so many issues with how young heโs perceived
Baby boy if I were him I'd kill more people
Fear and hunger doodles (from memory, I got into it 5 years ago)
"Whats killed your love? Was it the things I did? That i brought the man here who slew my brothers? Or that i died and saw such wonders? Answer me"
Claudia's eyes always strike me in the heart

Part 1
Armand gets a day job as a school bus driver. ๐ Everyone loves him so much that they drag him to the school's picture day so he can be in the year book.
The funny thing is, Louis wasn't even calling Daniel himself fascinating. "The hours I spent with that boy were more exciting... More FASCINATING than decades with you,"
It sounds like he is but really, Louis just had no one to rant to about his ex, the 1970s interview was just:
"Lestat provided no benefit to my life, he was a vapid man made of twigs-"
"Woah, okay. He sounds like a piece of work-"
And Louis is like "YES! *snaps fingers* YOU GET IT! HE WAS ALWAYS (blah blah blah and so....)"
Just watched the series
