Apropos of absolutely nothing (genuinely, that is not sarcasm), I started thinking about the times that people have argued with me about the idea of Solas being a liar
because he rarely ever says EXPLICIT lies. He's usually stating facts or talking vaguely enough that he never outright says a falsehood.
but like I feel like that's missing the forest for the trees. He uses factual information in specific ways to lead people to conclusions that are not accurate or equal with their intentions. He's manipulative and purposefully vague to get people to FEEL like they're making their own decisions but actually they've been put on that path by the way he's presented the facts. And he's rarely transparent about his own motivations.
so he might not say outright lies. But he's incredibly manipulative and dishonest. and you know what we call people like that?
Thank you to @serialsforbellara for the tag!! These were fun :)
Clean questions at the bottom! Under the cut to spare the dash:
The Questions:
What's your blog title from?
For those who can't read Japanese, my blog title is "Minna daisuki!" or "I love you all!"
I picked it a long time ago, when I was first learning Japanese and was just excited to write everything I could in hiragana and kanji LOL But I've kept it for all this time because it's kind of an aspirational vibe I guess? I want to be a person who connects with others and makes them feel cared about. I try to be pretty purposeful with how I post to that end.
Latest movie? What did you think?
I can't remember exactly, but the last 3 movies I recall were Hoppers, FNAF2 and Shrek 2!
Hoppers was cute? It's definitely not a "return to form" for Disney or anything but it was better than most of their other recent releases. The animal designs were super cute.
FNAF2 was um. Bad? But in the way you would expect a FNAF adaptation to be. The best part of the movie was Josh Hutcherson's character just playing FNAF2 In Real Life. It was so stupid I had a blast.
Shrek 2 holds up. It's fun. It's well-crafted. Holding Out For a Hero still SLAPS. The toilet humor remains annoying but such is life with Shrek.
What are you looking forward to right now?
Convention time!!! 6 days remaining!! And then my birthday is a week from Tuesday! :D
If you could do anything at all today, what would it be?
In a feasible sense, work on art! I'm probably gonna draw some portraits today actually. In a non-feasible "if wishes were pies" sense, I'd be on a train in Japan haha.
Drink of choice?
Water is a boring answer despite it being the thing I drink the most. Ginger ale/ginger beer is my favorite Little Beverage though! Along with blackberry flavored sparkling water.
Hair routine?
Shampoo, conditioner, blowdry. That's it. I absolutely HATE any kind of appearance-based routine and I don't like the way products change the texture of my hair so I don't style it at all.
Favourite way to travel? Is there another you want to try?
Trains!! The USA needs better trains! I love trains!!!!As for trying another one, I've considered boats a few times but they scare me (I can get seasick pretty easily) but I'm still a bit curious.
Favourite month and why?
December!! It's when the weather finally is nice to exist outside around here, and I'm a BIG time Christmas Person
Favourite time of day and why?
Twilight. I like the glow of the dimming light and the easing into nighttime. Helps that I'm also finally out of work and it's the start of my free time too!
Do you play or follow any sports?
I don't play sports, I've never been particularly coordinated that way. I loosely follow hockey and tennis, and I am forced every year to care about college football.
What kind of music has been stuck in your head lately?
Video game music! I rotate between various genres of music and I'm landing back in soundtrack land right now. I've had Animal Crossing playlists on loop for a while, but New Leaf's version of Toy Day is a particular favorite.
Dishes or laundry?
Laundry. It's at least a "set it and forget it" kind of chore. Dishes stress me out every time ;A;
Something you learned recently?
How to create a recovery drive for Windows computers LOL Don't ask me why this was necessary, I'm still stressed out about it.
What would you talk about if you could give a TED talk on anything?
Serious answer: Amatonormativity and how being more purposeful about your feelings towards others
Unserious answer: What The Fuck is 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim? ← I have the draft of this powerpoint still. I still want to finish it one day.
Piece of advice you find yourself giving a lot?
TAKE A BREAK!!!!! Stop pushing yourself beyond your limits and hurting yourself with the things you're supposed to enjoy! Creation isn't a job! You're allowed to do other things!!
Piece of advice you would give yourself five years ago?
Talk to the doctor. I know it's a pain to go through all these appointments but you're going to find solutions.
Do you believe in luck and superstition? Do you carry any lucky items or follow any?
Yes and no? At the risk of sounding pretentious, I believe in the power of belief. If you think having that item on you is going to make things work out, you've already done the hard work of believing in positivity. Mindset plays a huge role in our successes and failures, so I think whatever beliefs get people the results they're looking for are usually valid. I don't really have any lucky items or rituals myself though (at least not on purpose LOL)
That being said, I am superstitious in the sense that if you tell me something bad will happen if I do something, I'm not going to do it. But that's the anxiety disorder, not an actual belief in the thing. I don't really do magic or spirits or anything like that.
Are you musical (play any instruments, sing)? Would you ever perform for an audience?
I used to play the piano! It's really hard to keep up with when you don't have access to the instrument though, so I haven't played in years. I also used to take voice lessons and do choir. I DO still sing all the time, and I would perform in front of an audience again! I really love singing.
Write, type or speak?
Speak, which is an answer that would shock my younger self haha. I do mostly writing nowadays and I'm used to it, but I like being able to utilize my hands and my tone of voice to convey things. I'm a bit of a theatrical speaker, and it's a lot more fun that way.
What do you wish someone would ask you?
Do you think our characters would get along? (I always love RPing and chatting meta-style about OCs!!)

idk man sometimes i like it when video game writers are allowed to plan a series of events that happen in a specific order and affect each other in turn to become an overarching narrative, and i don’t mind trusting those writers to take me through those events in the order that is emotionally effective. i don’t really care if a game forces me to go through the forest area first before i can attempt the icy area because maybe there’s things that happen in the forest area that inform later scenes in the icy area. maybe we don't need more superficial player choice open world concepts if it comes at the cost of the ability to write a story with actual significant plot events and character development in each section
this is going to be a generalized take, so please forgive me, but women are an underrated enforcer of femininity.
I’ve noticed this with hairdressers. multiple times I’ve gone to lady hairdressers and said “cut it all off,” and they’ve gone “hmm alright,” and basically just trimmed the split ends. meanwhile I can go to a dude and say “hey, can you make my hair slightly shorter?” and he’ll go “on it boss,” and shave me bald.
twice now, I’ve also had lady tattoo artists add pink to femme up a tattoo, despite that not being on the initial design.
god, also thinking about this brought back a memory. my mom once threw a fit because my shoes were “too masculine” (they were black women’s flats), saying that I’d upset my dad and ruin the formal event we were going to. I wore the shoes, my dad didn’t give a shit.
I dunno. it just feels like the misogyny is coming from inside the house sometimes.
Changing my mindset from “nobody cares about my stuff ):” to “nobody cares about my stuff and I will be inflicting it on everyone like a supervillain >:)”
To my usual 3-4 people I know you care and I appreciate you greatly <3
it's good enrichment for The Character(s) when one of their friends gets possessed and they have to find some way to bring them back. great friendgroup bonding activity. especially if they have to do some exorcism bullshit and it's traumatizing for everyone involved and there's collapsing and sobbing afterward. great thing for The Character(s) to do. highly recommend.
