Oh wow hi.
I didnāt die! But let me tell you what happened.
November 21 I had a massive gallbladder attack. I knew what it was. I mean, at first I thought it was terrible gas but after 12 hours of agony and vomiting because of intense pain, I thought... hey, I am the only woman in my family over the age of 30 who still has a gallbladder. Perhaps I should go to the hospital!
Er doc said it was severe constipation. After a month on constipation meds, things started moving. I told you all here about it and joanholloway12 and reformedgymshirker both asked... what would be causing the constipation?
Initially I assumed it was my terrible diet. I was treating my body like every single day was a 10 year oldās birthday party. Candy, cookies, hotdogs, cake, pizza... But after a month of perfect eating and medication, the constipation was back with a vengeance.
December 26th I passed out. I wasnāt sure if it was related so I went to the ER again. I told that ER doc I was sure it was a gallbladder issue. Because there was no pain when being pushed on, she decided there was nothing wrong with me. She actually told me I needed counseling because I think thereās something wrong and I worry myself sick, thatās why I was having diarrhea, constipation and often felt as if I couldnāt breathe.. She said that having an ultrasound done on my gallbladder would be a waste of my money.
Ā I believed her. I mean, sheās an ER doc. What do I know? Iām just an uneducated, backwoods hillbilly. Another couple weeks goes by and I ask my aunt, another gallbladder victim, if she has any recommendations on someone to see. She makes her recommendation. He thinks I have Crohnās Disease for the same reason - no pain when itās pushed on. Meh. He has me completely change my diet so that Iām basically eating nothing but vegetables to see if it helps. He notes that when he listens to my bowels, there is almost no sound at all. Nothing is moving. The first ER doctor had said the same thing.
A week later, my back hurts constantly. At this point, Iām done. I demand an ultrasound.
I get my ultrasound early on a Friday morning. Monday they call to tell me I have gallbladder disease. The following Friday I have a consultation with a surgeon. He pushes on it. No pain. That was January 30. Heās worried that while I do have stones in my gallbladder that it isnāt the gallbladder causing me all my issues. He says itās weird that thereās no pain.
The hospital helps me find insurance. My insurance went into effect (affect??) March 1. I had my surgery at 7:30am March 2.
So for the entirety of February, I sat in pain waiting for my insurance to kick in. I also dreaded the surgery because never having had it I was really scared of the anaesthetic. I actually got myĀ āaffairs in orderā just to be on the safe side.
My gallbladder had one massive stone in it. The walls of my gallbladder were pretty freakinā gross, all choppy looking and stuff. That thing was nasty. I feel so much better with it gone. I can go to the bathroom like a normal person again.
From November 21 to March 2, I had lost 24 lbs. Now that I can eat again, I am up to 192 from 186. Time to get back on the ball!
Sorry this is so huge. Tumblr has changed a lot since the last time I was here and I canāt figure out how to make a cut thingy.
