To say that the week was already beginning to stress her out was an understatement. Her flight to New Orleans would leave tomorrow afternoon. She decided on a later plane since the first of several interviews and general press events wouldn’t start until later. Despite not even being on the card to perform in some way or another, she was still feeling the pressures of her old job.
After spending a majority of the day with Alex and packing, she had resolved to escaping to the quiet of the library, sitting on the couch in front of a fire that burned low. Her eyes were closed and she only stirred when she felt gentle hands rubbing at her calves. She opened her eyes in time to see Tony rest his head upon her lap and instinctively, her soft, pale hand reached out to comb through dark locks with a gentleness that only she could.
—— "Mon cher…" The words slipped softly past full lips, her lilac eyes softening as well. Something was wrong, but for now, she only wished to be what he needed right now— loving company.
On the other end, he'd been spending his days juggling work and the preparations for the next Stark Expo. Owing to that, it had been hard to find time to see Shawn. Compiling every stress, up to and including his own wayward thoughts had the engineer bowing under the weight of it all. Part of him wondered how Shawn did it while still managing to retain such poise and grace. His own day spent between stolen moments with his lovers and Alex, as well as a still small Tiberius, and signings off on who knew how much paperwork, Tony was now more than content to drop the tense facade and rest in the cradle of his favorite blonde's lap. Too much had been pent up and that resulted in tired, red-rimmed ice-blues and a withdrawal into the bare safety of his psyche. The inventor could only sigh softly in response, warmed by the flickering flames before them and the soft fingers in the mess of his coarse hair. "Cara mia." He murmured back like a ritual, voice hoarse from the weight of life itself. Somehow, she always knew how to calm him. He prayed she always would.
