the fixation upon Gomez Addams as a hypothetical "rich to be eaten/guillotined" as opposed to discussions of radicalizing the Addams family into redistributing willingly (which is arguably in character for most adaptations if not all) shows how deep seated the idea of necessary punishment is within modern leftist ideals. In spite of the strength of Gomez's sense of justice, honor, and equality - traits everyone including the jokesters at large unanimously adore him for - the prevailing attitude is one of antagonism and absolutism. Forbes said the Addams family are Rich, so we would need to Kill Them.
Tumblr has simultaneously painted the Addams as a family that would take in anyone, house students and newcomers, generously give their time and money and assets away; and at the same time, claims the resources that allow them to do these things we laud them for make them inherently evil and in need of destruction.
It Says A Lot about how people don't understand that the phrase "eat the rich" is not a call for class genocide, its a warning about what desperate working dogs do when starved and beaten ad infinitum. This is all hypothetical discussion. Gomez Addams, and indeed any "good rich" people, does not actually exist.
But I do find the way we discuss him and his hypothetical wealth very interesting. I'd sooner put Scrooge McDuck against the wall, because he can't be changed. But the Addams family? They're inherently counterculture by existing as a fun house reflection of nuclear family values. Pick you battles kids, cmon.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this?
I have a tendency to beat myself up whenever something I make doesnât meet my expectations (which is always). The result is that finishing something = bad feelings: I am effectively punishing myself for having created something. The natural reaction to this punishment is an aversion to creation, meaning that my perfectionism is harming me, not only by causing me to despise what I do make and by impeding the creative process, but by attacking even my desire to create.

I do think its weird to fear a group of people. Swingers are a type of polyamorous people. Polyam is an umbrella term with multiple ways to he polyam.
I'm sorry people have made you feel shitty, but that is not the fault of All Swingers Everywhere. It's like if I decided to hate bi women bc I dated one (I've dated many and love bi women. But.) Who fetishized me as an intersex person and said and did really insulting and horrible shit, including trying to use me as a sex object for her and her boyfriend. But that's not right - she's not like that because she's bi. She just sucks.
It's not great to fear a group of people based on your own want for a monogamous relationship - your loneliness and insecurity. That's what this whole post is about. My partner of five years and I got together after a spontaneous threesome at a convention hotel. We've had plenty more threesomes - with people who have shown clear interest and who we knew were into that sort of thing. It's unfair to paint all people who are polyam in a negative light because some people have done bad by you.
Also, swingers tend to only fuck with other swingers. Sounds like you've had unicorn hunters, not swingers. So for y'all who don't know, Everclear is some serious shit. Your typical hard alcohol is gonna range from 30-50% alcohol by volume. Your vodkas, rums, and gins will sit around the 30-40% range with whiskey and bourbon being closer to the 50% mark. Everclear? Everclear is at a minimum 60%, the good news is that bottle is thankfully the minimum 60%. (You can tell by it being 120 proof, to get percentage you just halve the proof.) Everclear is grain alcohol and not flavoured, so it's pure; unadulterated alcohol taste in that bottle. And, the amount she poured in to that tin based on ratio basically turned the concoction in to citrus flavored paint thinner. Everclear is the stuff you like, get to spike a big punch bowl of something, not usually something you use in a cocktail.
I love the clarification because I know nothing about alcohol!
Everclear used to come with a warning on the bottle to make sure you store it in a cool place, refrigerated if possible, because if stored above a certain temperature it can spontaneously combust.
