The kaiju tearing through the wall had been quite a sight indeed. And still the governments insisted on continuing the project. Unthinkable. Serena had to pause a moment before continuing, containing her anger. It was a subject she and a lot of others working on the Jaeger program felt passionately about. She went on with kinder words than she might have been thinking. “It feels like there’d almost need to be another disaster before anyone will learn. Hopefully Sydney was enough and it doesn’t need to be any worse than that in order to make people understand.”

Ven sighed and set down her tools for a moment. “We can only hope,” she didn’t hold much stock in hope anymore, after one was let down so many times you didn’t see the point.  ”But either way we need to figure out how to stop them coming through the breach, or delay them.  We barely have enough time to fix the Jaegers before the next attack, if only we had more time to prepare.”  How they were going to get this project done in a reasonable amount of time was beyond her.

Serena nodded. "More time, more people and more Jaegers. Which is why this budget cut makes no sense. Even if the Kaiju keep coming through the breach faster and faster we could at least be ready to fight them." The Engineer frowned and took a moment to adjust the schematic slightly, sharpening the holographic image.

Ugh I’ve had the worst writer’s block lately.. thought I’d take yesterday and today off to kind of recharge but it hasn’t worked yet. Bleh. I just want to draw and sleep.

Because I love you all so much, I used these to make some PNG files for you to make your own badge with. Just stick your FC behind the badge layer in photoshop or GIMP or get someone else to do it for you. I made two versions, one where I left the lettering in in case you don’t feel like you could match it up properly yourself and a totally blank one including a place to put a QR code. I suggest maybe getting one that leads to your blog?

  "Hnm. Litchfield," she said as a means of introduction, if a short one. Serena knew how intimidating the Shatterdome could be to newcomers, and while she could simply toss him a map and have him find it on his own, she did have to wonder why no one had at least shown a new pilot to his Jaeger. Deciding she had a few minutes to spare, Sera nodded and discarded her pen into a cup filled with a dozen others exactly like it before rolling her chair out from under it’s desk. “I can show you. You’ll learn the place quick," she explained, standing and stretching each of her arms across her chest in turn, coaxing them a bit further gently by pulling her elbows closer with her other hand, “But there’s no sense in letting you wander around lost before that happens. C’mon." Sera nodded to the right before leading him from the large desk-filled room.

"A pleasure," he replied, feeling put into his place by her air of authority. He didn’t like making people upset at him unnecessarily so he was quiet as he waited for her to make a decision. When she spoke up next he was a bit surprised, having half expected her to throw him out with a map. He followed her out the door, his bag slung over his shoulder, and eyed the ground briefly.

"I’m very sorry if I interrupted you, ma’am," he stated in a rare show of respect. “I do appreciate your time though."

He didn’t expect much of a response to that, as she didn't seem to be much the talkative type, but he at least felt the need to say it. It was the polite thing to do after all.

Serena shook her head at his apology, waving it away. "Don't worry about it. Paperwork's boring anyway, I was just trying to power through it so I could get back to work." From her dark military-green jumpsuit spotted with oil stains and small tears to the tool-belt around her waist adorned with both classic screwdrivers and odd, expensive looking gadgets alike, it might be easy to guess her occupation. Sera loved her job but hated the logistic behind it, she often wished she could hire some sort of secretary to take care of the boring stuff. Ah well. "You're just in today? When I first started as a pilot they gave us a whole tour of the place. But I guess it wouldn't have hurt to make us all work it out for ourselves." Sera guessed with the budget cuts the PPDC may have forced people to start using their time more 'wisely,' which would mean a little more hard work for everyone. The engineer didn't usually like to bother with the politics with it all.. unless it managed to start affecting her job.

Agh I am awful. I tend to binge when it comes to RP, completely wearing out one character before moving to the next and repeating before I go back to the first. It's like only one muse may occupy my mind at a time and while it's there it insists upon itself.

"If it weren’t for that useless wall.." Sera frowned, readying an entirely different set of tools for the job. “I don’t know how many trillions they are pouring into that thing but there’s no way it will hold against a Kaiju. Even a category one could break through in minutes. And then what happens..? Everyone’s left defenseless and we’ll be back to the days of nuking populated areas.." It was a bit of a tender subject for the woman. The Jaegers were obviously the better way to go, and even if the Kaiju were adapting, so could they. But politics reigned supreme after all, and ‘the people’ would want something different and new. Such a shame the authorities would let things like that trump the safety of millions..

"Well," Ven shook her head as she began to reconnect wires. “They sometimes seem to be more interested in staying in office or money."  Even if the world was falling apart.  "I watched live when that Jaeger tore through the wall last week, I’m just glad Eureka was still there.  Or else I fear what might have happened to Sydney."  Not matter what she thought of those pilots she was glad they were there.  "I guess we just have to hope that we are enough, hope that we don’t lose any more Jaegers and that the tides turn in our favor."
