at the courier's discretion (written for hxhbb26)
happy to be part of the hunter x hunter big bang for the second year in a row 🩷
this time around, i'm writing a killugon AU that's all about one of my long-time personal interests—the postal system! gon and killua are two of the newest couriers at the national courier consortium, an elite institution that champions autonomy and expediency.
so here's the first chapter of at the courier's discretion, and i hope you'll follow their journey! all of the chapters are written already, and i'll be posting once every few weeks.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
i wanted to give a big thank you to the @hxhbigbang26 mods for hosting such a fun event. i love how different the process is from any other bang i've participated in—all writers and artists are secret from each other up until the very end, there's a lovely camaraderie between writers leading up to the fic submission date, we have consistent writing sprint sessions (shoutout to @leviathiane and @amalialia for being such fun sprint buddies all those late nights!), the long editing period where i can forget everything i've ever written and clean it all up later, and the final reveal day when we get to meet our artists and see what they've created.
speaking of artists, i was very lucky to be paired with TWO incredible artists this time around: @spinoodlesss and @noit-art-surf!!! i love that they captured both sides of life as a courier: goofing off and having a great time racing mail carts at headquarters, and venturing through difficult conditions to complete their deliveries (while still having a great time!). please take a look and show them some well-deserved love!
💬 1 🔁 3 ❤️ 10 · Here is my submission for the HXHBB26!!! This year I got assigned to @sunshinemagic's fic, "At The Courier's Discretion,"
💬 2 🔁 3 ❤️ 6 · HXH BB 2026 (2nd piece) !! · Thank you again for all the amazing people at @hxhbigbang26 , both mods and participants this
if this is your first time hearing about hxhbb, we'd love for you to join us next year!
reblog this for good luck

the irredeemable pervert is generally well regarded among their friends for their insightful thoughts and all around pleasant demeanour
Just Sasuke being ‘intimidating’ again…
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great

For anyone wondering, the PhD student's name is Myra Cheng.
Here's a link to an article about the study from the Stanford Report: link.
Across three preregistered studies, participants interacting with sycophantic AI became more convinced of their own rightness and less willing to repair relationships. Yet at the same time, participants rated sycophantic AI models as higher quality, more trustworthy, and more desirable for future use, which may explain why this behavior has persisted despite its harmful impacts.
Myra Cheng et al. "Sycophantic AI decreases prosocial intentions and promotes dependence." Science 391, eaec8352 (2026).
Perhaps I’m being dramatic, but it almost feels as though the original phrasing (that I see being reflected quite heavily in the comments) focuses on Cheng’s inspiration from AI-generated breakup texts. The article goes much further than that; Cheng and her team clearly spent time acquiring data and then processing it to tell the story of how AI-dependence is fundamentally shifting how people interact with others. This change in human interactions didn’t happen overnight. We are witnessing a fundamental shift in how we interact with other people and a simultaneous diminishing of how long people will spend on any given task. Focusing in on the more click-worthy problem of breakup texts overlooks the underlying issue that, after being discovered, can actually influence policy change as Cheng discusses
You know how wealthy people turn into stupid arseholes by surrounding themselves with vapid yes-men? ChatGPT is vapid yes-men on tap. Now you, too, can subject yourself to the phenomenon that we've all long known turns people into giant toddlers who are impossible to deal with.
It’s his bday !! ⭐️
And an extra one below haha
Actually when I say “fuck all billionaires” I particularly mean Taylor “having my wedding in the middle of the busiest city in the world on the busiest weekend in the world in the part of the city the majority of commuters need to get through because fuck working people” Swift
