This means the world to me; more than words can describe. Voice Actors are truly some of the best people the world has to offer. I knew Fred as Nikolai from CoD Zombies; playing those games with my brother helped us get closer as we grew up. Going from Zombies directly into Overwatch back in 2016; I knew this game was going to be different. Little did I know that it would change my life.
The last 6-7 years were hard for me; but none so than 2022. Losing my great aunt in Feb, my job in April, my uncle in Sept, breaking up with my abusive ex a week later, and losing my grandma a month later...that's so much for one person to go through. What got me through it all was Overwatch; I'd sit there, pick Soldier and get POTG after POTG.
For my request, I asked Fred to write something funny or inspirational. That I had experienced a lot of loss and playing Soldier kept me going. Here's the video of him signing my request live:
I still cry every time I watch this. Hearing him talk about how he experienced a lot of loss as well made me feel like I wasn't alone. He apologized for "writing me a book" and I was on the other side of the screen saying "Nono it's ok! Keep going! Write as much as you want!" and sobbing in his livestream chat. I framed it and hung it beside the postcards my grandparents used to send me.
I'm eternally grateful for this; he's an amazing voice actor! I've never had an experience like this before and words can't describe how overjoyed I am. I've never been this happy in my life; I hope it continues.
