i think the line-up of The Devil, The Tower, and The Star really suits their story, and it warms my heart to see where these two have ended up : )

Schools and Other Community Institutions (read why schools here):

Collectiva Bilingue is a collection of Spanish Immersion schools within Minneapolis. Roosevelt is the school that was tear gassed the same day Renee Good was murdered. Green Central is also heavily targeted, and three blocks from where Good was murdered.

South High is another one that is likely to need a lot of help in coming weeks. In South Minneapolis, serves an area that's been heavily impacted

Harrison Neighborhood Association serves a neighborhood in North where approximately 1 in 6 residents are foreign born and about 40% speak a language other than English in the home. (source: https://www.mncompass.org/profiles/city/minneapolis/harrison)

South Minneapolis Fundraisers:

A disproportionate amount of the reported activity has been in the Powderhorn, Whittier, and Phillips community areas within South Minneapolis. Renee Good was murdered in Greater Powderhorn Park (central neighborhood); Alex Pretti was murdered in Whittier (eat street).

Immigrant Law Center of MN, who is providing assistance to hundreds of people with families detained by ICE

Immigrant Rapid Response Fund, a fund assembled by a coalition of Twin Cities Foundations committed to getting assistance out the door as quickly as possible.

finally finished a painting i've been cooking in my mind for a few years! shadowgast as The Devil, one of my favorite tarot cards and one of the three cards i associate with their relationship

i'm not much for divination but i love the story-telling aspect of tarot, and one of my favorite visual metaphors of The Devil is how loose the chains around the two figures' necks are. they're not kept bound. it's that possibility to choose that i find so significant, and so fitting for the story of these two wizards. to say you're not defined by your past is to say you're born with all the choices you make; but to say you are forever defined by it is to deny yourself the right to change. the chains around your neck might be very heavy, but the choice to shrug them off is always yours to take.
