but the period we’re in right now is decidedly not neo-dada! you know why? because neo-dada already happened, and not during WWII but during the 60s and 70s, through artists like robert rauschenberg, yves klein, yoko ono, and nam june paik.

what was going on in the 60s and 70s that might involve “terrifying” reality and “increasingly nonsensical” coping methods? the cold war! now the cold war is in much more recent memory,

but if you wanna talk about nonsensical coping methods among millennials? i would say “lol xD so random” culture is probably the best starting point, which is definitely post-cold war (knowyourmeme is giving me 2004 as a good benchmark date).

2004 is only three years after 2001 so this resurgence of dada thinking could easily be seen as initially a reaction to 9/11, and we can then trace the antics of the bush administration, the shift of the overton window, the rise of internet culture, the 2016 election, and the current political moment as developmental factors behind this current dada moment.

so since neo-dada already happened and this is definitely its own thing with its own factors, and since a big part of our dada is the influence of the internet on modernity, i posit that we start calling this e-dada or #dada

Guys, PLEASE don’t treat this as an admirable decision. What this change basically amounts to is a HUGE amount of overtime for the animators without any delays in the release schedule nor changes to the budget, it’s a decision HE can make bc it won’t personally affect him but it will affect the animators. Even worse, supporting this decision could send the message to other companies that we’ll support practices like this in the future.

It actually won’t. The actual animation is not changing, the model its being applied to is changing. Thats not what animators do, thats what artists and modellers do, the lions share of the work is theirs. Its not going to be zero work, because nothing ever is, but there are numerous professionals who responded to that tweet pointing out how its actually not a hugely difficult or undoable job for CGI, because they’re just going to apply the animation they already have to a new model and touch it up where they need to. We SHOULD support practices like this in future, we SHOULD support companies actually listening to their audiences and providing a better quality product/service as a result beforehand, not cocking it up and issuing an apology after. So lets not try and drag down this godsend of a change with phrases like “huge overtime” or imply its going to be ruinous to anyone (especially based on no evidence) because according to actual animators who work on films like this, that is simply not true.

annabeth headcanons for the soul

- used to have a really girly voice that matched her ‘dumb blonde’ look

⁃ but it sort of became permanently hoarse after she drank liquid fire in tartarus

⁃ cute sneeze. like you know those girls whose sneeze sounds like a little bird fart or something. that’s her sneeze

⁃ loves peanut butter

⁃ a lot. like she’ll eat it straight out of the jar it’s 100% her comfort food

⁃ percy has learned to just hand her a jar of peanut butter and a spoon whenever she’s stressed about exams or something

⁃ v ticklish but not a lot of people are brave enough to take advantage of this fact

⁃ doesn’t care that much about music

⁃ except for hamilton. she every song by memory and can perfectly rap yorktown

⁃ she’s also grown to enjoy green day and some of the other stuff percy likes

⁃ fortunately they were all very patient and talked her through basic stuff like how to brush your teeth and shower, and later how to handle your period and stuff

⁃ and this is the sort of stuff she didn’t learn at home because she was so neglected

⁃ and while we’re at basic education, sally gave her The Talk ™️

⁃ after she came back from tartarus she was very reluctant to face her issues and look for help, but piper ended up convincing her

⁃ obviously is a powerful demigod that attracts enough monsters on her own, but spending a lot of time with percy means she “smells” like him to monsters so she starts to attract them even more

⁃ she has a great time in college, we know she loves studying and she gets along great in berkeley, and makes a lot of friends which helps her get over some of her trust issues

⁃ she does miss new york though, and after she and percy are done studying they go back immediately

- while she’s in california she gets to improve her relationship with her dad and especially with her little brothers, but she never really sees eye to eye with her stepmom because let’s face it she was a bitch lol

- also her relationship with her real mom was rly damaged after the whole athena parthenos deal

⁃ I would read a 100 page essay about her relationship with her brothers tbh

⁃ I feel like she would make fun of them all the time and they would just think she’s rly cool

this is a MESS and has no specific goal whatsoever but I think about annabeth a lot and I want her to be happy all the time ok

something i wish i had realized earlier: you can write poems on the same subject more than once. you can write, paint, draw the same thing over and over if you want to. you can spend your whole life making art about oranges. i think i always felt this pressure to get it right the first time like i couldn’t go back and use that inspiration again. but you can. you can go back and revisit it. you can pick up the conversation again and again if you have more to say.
