If i’m telling you, “this is a hot plate.” But I make no effort to put it down, i’m internally yelling at you to move your shit. Your phone. Your keys. Your bread. Whatever is directly in front of you is from that point on is now classified as your shit. The shit you are suddenly responsibly for and I am burning my hands for. Move your shit. I’m not going to move it for you.
Shoutout to the people who see me approaching with their food and immediately start clearing the way for me. You are the real MVPs. You know what’s up. You understand.
As for everybody else. Move. Your. Shit.
We see that and we respect the fuck out of you. Thank you.

I know I just called you dude but I’m trying to flirt with you

This post has been magically enchanted to contain cursed images powers. Reblog your cursed images to seal their evil power
remember when fyre fest happened like a year or so ago and there was this article where the attendees complained about how shitty it was but there was this one middle class dude who won a ticket through like a lottery or something and had the time of his life because rich people suffering is great. i hope y’all remember it is today’s mood
god i AM josh.
Y'all, this is mighty fucked up. You do realize it wasn't all rich people right? Tickets weren't that expensive. For the real story, check this out https://youtu.be/UBPg5ftCMv8
“Can we stop classifying ‘realistic proportions’ as fat please? Like seriously? Do these people really think a mermaid who swims constantly would be fat? Or a woman living in France before the French Revolution would be fat?* Or a Native American girl who constantly runs around and maybe helps to carry heavy things and hunt would be fat? Every time I see articles like this one it makes me so mad. They boast about ‘oh think of all the little fat girls that look at these skinny princesses and hate themselves!’ but fail to think about the little skinny girls who hear people talk about how being skinny isn’t ‘normal’ or ‘realistic’ and feel bad about themselves. There are two sides to every coin, skinny and fat kids get picked on for being skinny and fat. This type of shit isn’t for ‘teh liddle gurls’ it’s for fat, vain adult women who feel insecure because of a freaking cartoon.” (x) (*)
I would also like to point out how "realistic proportions" come with tattoos and resting bitch face
If you're still taking questions... what would you do if you had a player that is very insistent on bringing in a modern military character in a fantasy world setting? Time sensitive. Currently leaning on allowing it and working with the player setting up their character's background on how "a wizard did it" and a summoning spell gone wrong. But what are your thoughts?
If Samurai Jack can go forward in time, then GI Joe should be able to go back in time. Im trying to think of a precedent in fiction to enforce it but all I can think of is Martin Lawrence in Black Knight and the sequel to the Uwe Boll movie In the Name of the King.
But I mean, if they wanna do it and youre open to it, just go for it and have fun.
Army of Darkness is another example
WWII militaries used inflatable armies to trick their enemies. Decoys like dummy tanks, straw planes, and fake roads and bridges that were built out of canvas, burlap, and inflated rubber looked just like the real thing from far away. Artists, filmmakers, scientists, and sculptors were asked to design the fake armies, which foiled many attackers and saved the lives of thousands of soldiers. Source Source 2
If men stopped working…the world would continue on.
If women stopped working, then things would get ugly.
What?
there has been an instance where this happened. it was 1975 and icelandic women decided not to work for one day. working as in cooking, cleaning, taking care of the children, doing chores and so on, not only “not showing up to your workplace”. women did nothing that day, except showing up in reykjavik and protesting for gender equality, equal pay and equal representation in parliament, you know, cool stuff. you know what happened? havoc. men were left with food to cook and children they never took care of to pick up from kindergarden and entertain for the day. they went en masse to the food shops buying sausages because they could cook nothing else, they had to bond with children they never spent more than a couple hours a day with. they struggled combining their work day and the domestic tasks they had to sort out. and this just for one day. iceland in 1975 stopped working and things indeed got ugly. so ugly that women in the following decades became woke AF and soon it happened that women became president, took half of the seats in parliament and achieved one of the best living environments in the world. is your astonishment solved now?
Here’s an article on it
Very true.
people who are like “yeah, but i’m sure the same thing would happen if men left the workforce!!!” not really tho bc look at WWII??
I work in a hospital and I assure you it would function unchanged.
I love bullshit like this. Yes, the hospital is half men, but I promise absolutely nothing would change if they were gone. The female nurses would completely take over the jobs of all the male nurses with no trouble. The female surgeons would be able to do twice as many operations without thinking twice. Researchers and their assistants could be cut by half and it’d all be the same. Administrators, physicians, nurse’s aids, custodians–if they have a penis, they don’t do anything, amirite?
>people who are like “yeah, but i’m sure the same thing would happen if men left the workforce!!!” not really tho bc look at WWII??
Right, because that didn’t cause any economic disruption or upheaval at all. Women just cheerfully stepped into all those blue-collar jobs requiring physical strength.
/s
I've always loved this stupid idea because, well, no shit Sherlock. "If half of the entire world's population just stopped doing things, stuff would get messed up". It doesn't matter if it's male or female, either way shit would get fucked
I hope Wikipedia doesnt go bankrupt it will feel like the end times . I think I will literally panic
Encyclopedia Britannica is always there
there’s this place called a library. and they have these things called books. and then there’s this thing called Google Search. where you can find books in PDF form.
Wikipedia is user edited. you can literally put anything you want in an entry almost. I think you know where I’m about to go with this.
You’re condescending and annoying. I am attached to Wikipedia out of sentimentality it’s always been there for as long as I remember and reliable to me for some casual trivia. Wikipedia is iconic and I love her. go write a research paper or something
who let high school teachers find tumblr
me: hm i wonder how many countries drive on the same side as the UK
friend: let’s check wikipedia in 2 seconds on our phones
some asshole on tumblr: um excuse me why don’t you stop what you’re doing to go to the library and look it up in an outdated book that’s edited maybe twice a decade and that definitely doesn’t have a single page article called “list of countries with left-hand traffic”
also “user edited” really doesn’t mean as much as you think it does. there are millions of people displaying accurate information, for every one person displaying inaccurate information. and that inaccurate information is usually changed quickly, and the person who made it can get their ip blocked from wikipedia if it was bad enough. way more accurate than textbooks or a library.
Librarian here! I’ve worked at both academic (college/university) and public libraries, and let me tell you this: most print encyclopedias are useless garbage we can’t get rid of fast enough. With the exception of subject-specific sets which we need to buy again every few years because the information has become outdated, most of the information in any volume of an encyclopedia is far more accessible and far more in-depth on the internet.
Wikipedia as a reference resource is fantastic because, just like print encyclopedias, it serves as a jumping-off point for research… and so do librarians! A librarian isn’t going to just write your paper for you, we’re going to point you to the books, articles, and websites that contain the information. Wikipedia is great for that, too, because any article that gets more than a bit of traffic will wind up with sources and external links. But print encyclopedias don’t go that far in citing their sources, and because they’re static media, the references may not only be outdated, they might be entirely inaccessible due to age, obscurity, or cost of access.
And there’s an interesting thing about all those books we have on the shelves… anyone can write one, and usually they only have a handful of other people checking their work. Academic journals are somewhat notorious for the ease with which a completely falsified paper can see publication (especially in cases of electronic journals), but printed books can also be easily falsified, whether as a result of publishers with an agenda or just fact-checkers slacking off.
As has been pointed out above, wikipedia is really great at getting obscenely specific in terms of the topics of articles. It’s an amazing collection of data, and more importantly, it’s an amazing collection of sources of data.
The role of a reference librarian and a wikipedia editor are basically the same: show you a brief summary of the information you need, and point you to more in-depth, reliable sources.
I was helping a friend clear out their dad’s old stuff from their home recently and we came across encyclopedias from the 90s.
They all went to the dump. They were ASTOUNDINGLY outdated. Totally fucking useless.
High school English teacher here–I regularly get crap from some of my colleagues, but I am completely fine with students using Wikipedia for info. Wikipedia does an excellent job of flagging articles that have been recently edited until someone can verify the changes, so pages with inaccurate info often have giant warnings at the top saying “THIS PAGE MAY CONTAIN IANCCURATE INFO”. Won’t find that in an out-of-date print edition.
Not only that, but Wikipedia cites its sources. It tells you right at the bottom of the page where all its info came from, so if you want to use a fact from Wikipedia but don’t want a teacher annoyed with you, just cite the source in the footnote. Teachers and professors are (a) not likely to check up on this and (b) it’s a real source so even if they do it’s legit?
The biggest problem I have had with letting students use Wikipedia is actually that Wikipedia articles are often written in such academic language that students sometimes struggle to understand them. That part kids have to overcome on their own or with the help of their teacher. But there’s nothing wrong with Wikipedia as a source. Hatred for it is a remnant of academic elitism, thinking that “peer-reviewed” can only mean some handful of crusty white dudes instead of literally anyone with enough knowledge and motivation to review it.
Honestly. My dad is a college professor and he’s told me time and again to always start my research at Wikipedia. You have to go further, obviously, but its such a great jumping off point for information.
Plus, where else can I find an itemized and updated list of every Cryptid known to human kind?
For the impenetrable articles, here’s my tip.
The list of other languages in the sidebar? Look at it and check whether the article has a version in Simple English.
Simple English is a mode for non-native English speakers but is also great if your reading comprehension is not super good, you’re having a slow brain day for any mental health or developmental disorder reason, or the English version is just poorly written.
Librarian here, and this whole post gives me so much joy.
@sugargroupie, @turtletotem
I feel like people think “not a reliable source” means “not true” but it actually means “can’t be quoted because the words might change”
I never knew there was a simple English version? I learned something new!
So yeah, everyone go donate to Wikipedia, they’re having a hard time over there.
Wikipedia got me through college. I never understood people who are like “hurr durr anyone can edit it so it’s not reliable“. They protect their brand by independently confirming things and flagging stuff that is inaccurate. They block people who troll the pages. The trick is to use it as a jumping off point like the people above said. You look at the external links and information for the in-depth research. Wikipedia just provides a helpful, easy to read summary.
Well, it’s trash for most current-events political stuff, but other than that…
I love Wikipedia with a burning passion. After all, if it dies, how will I prove that Godwin's Law is real?
As much as I’d like to claim this is a practical joke, this is the ACTUAL CARTOON NETWORK SCHEDULE FOR CHRISTMAS DAY TO NEW YEARS EVE.
H-how?! This is a marathon of EVERY EPISODE (all 203) of Teen Titans Go! repeated 2.5 times in a row. Who asked for this? Who asked for “instead of a decent or just remotely tolerable Christmas schedule, maybe with some of those old specials we put on the app, let’s just run a show we have already marathoned for almost every other major holiday or premiere this year for EIGHT DAYS??”
I mean seriously, I’m just… shocked. This is seriously like, a joke schedule I probably made to joke around on Discord once. It even has the small bit of Steven Universe.
Oh yeah, there’s Steven Universe. I hope you noticed that. I hope you noticed those TWO episodes it has, both being TV premieres (Sadie Killer, Kevin Party). 1 week before the SU half-hour special that will probably get super-hyped by CN. Those two episodes makes this schedule just even more absurd. The TTG marathon could have stopped that day. It could have stopped after SU. But nevertheless, it persisted.
New Years Eve is the absolute stopping point for the marathon. Unikitty! premieres on the 1st and will start getting all the attention for a month at least. So there’s an end. But still. Eight. Fucking. Days. I don’t mean to curse on a blog about, well, Cartoon Network. But still. EIGHT. FUCKING. DAYS.
I-I try to find silver linings in every terrible CN schedule. Like that one from August. “At least they’re giving OK K.O.! a lot of trust!” But… I don’t… think I can find a silver lining in this. SU is just aired because it was advertised so and that they need to air those episodes before “Lars of the Stars” and “Jungle Moon” the week after. So, here’s my attempt at a silver lining for this… you don’t need to watch this. You could be watching the holiday specials that CN posted on their app. Make your own schedule out of that. I could watch “Hey Hey It’s Knishmas” all the doo-dah day if I wanted to.
Yeah, I know. The silver lining is basically “don’t watch CN this week.” But, yeah. It’s got to the point where that’s my suggestion. Good luck trying to catch a Christmas special on Boomerang, btw. Just the app or cable on demand.
2017 has been one heck of a year for the network. You had two new shows! Ben 10 and OK K.O.! First show is alright, second show is amazing! Then Teen Titans showed up! Then the original Ben 10 showed up! Then Regular Show showed up after ending in January! Then Ben 10 and Regular Show disappeared quickly. But that was expected. The bigger surprise is that Teen Titans is still on the lineup.
But the schedule had problems. Teen Titans Go! marathons were getting longer. More frequent. More pointless. I thought there would be some nice stuff for Christmas. I thought the holiday specials they put on the CN app were a good sign.
I shouldn’t have hope.
Merry Christmas!
Here’s what’s new that week:
Steven Universe - Friday (12/29) at 7:30p
Top… 2:
Teen Titans Go! - 384 - 99%
Steven Universe - 2 - 2%
I don’t usually post schedules from over a week from now, but I just had to for this. I don’t think anything will change on the schedule. Maybe the order of which episodes air, but that doesn’t really matter. If there’s something more drastic, like, say, CN ending the marathon early for some surprise reason, I’ll be there to change the pic.
CN with the boldest “what’s new pussycat” meme I’ve ever seen
Cartoon Network has a lich that has Teen Titans Go! as their personal phylactery
Where’s the image of Shake staring at the CN schedule going “You look at him and tell me there’s a god” when I need it?
Because mein fucking gott I don’t think we’ve ever needed it more than now.
Is their channel about to go under?
TTG is really popular with the kids. It’s the adult fans that hate it, IIRC.
What the hell happened to Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer? That was like the best Christmas movie CN used to play. It’s not like it’s outdated, so what gives?
It’s on the CW these days.
Y'all should check this video out

And games were often difficult specifically to get more money out of people.
If you compare 80s/90s arcade games squeezing quarters out of you to games today squeezing dollars out of you, your opinion is discarded.
Four quarters…make…one dollar.
The problem with this comparison is that you didn't already buy the arcade machine for $60. Like, I'd understand if the game was free, but games like Battlefront 2 costing a full $60 and THEN forcing the player to pay even more money is ridiculous.
just so you know, X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ and A Thousand Miles have the same BPM
they didnt match up perfectly but I did some editing.
Holy fuck. The wage gap has been debunked multiple times, the latest by a Harvard Graduate. A female graduate, might I add. You people just like to take every little situation and call it discrimination or prejudice. Women are not oppressed in the USA. You know what oppression looks like? It's being stoned to death for being raped, forced to always have a male guardian, and forced to have genital mutilations. All which happen to women in middle eastern countries. And I'm a women too.
Those are all examples of oppression, yes. But PAY gaps (which do exist. Im not sure why people have decided that just because we understand the factors involved makes it invalid), lack of paid maternity leave, misrepresentation in government, and restrictions to reproductive health are also oppressive. Just because our issues are different doesnt make them unimportant.
So your saying a waitress or preschool teacher should makes much as me who weilds a skill saw, nail gun, off ladders and literally breaks my body down. Cause those ARE the factors. The wage Gap all but disappears with higher education and tradesmen training
Im saying that teaching preschool and carpentry shouldnt be so heavily gendered that it impacts the overall paygap between genders to a massive degree.
And im saying that ignoring the reasons WHY those professions are so heavily gendered helps no one.
No @sirjames74…..we are saying within the SAME PROFESSION men should not be paid more than women…in the SAME JOB WITH THE SAME QUALIFICATIONS. Male teachers make more than female teachers, male actors make more than female actors even though they may be a side character vs the female LEAD….male truck drivers are paid more than female truck drivers….male servers even get more tips than female servers….
…..EQUAL WORK SHOULD MEAN EQUAL PAY I dont even know why this is an issue….Why do men get so defensive over this shit? At an office job, I was paid a certain wage….I was there for two years longer than a recent male hiree….he was hired for the same position I was….and he actually got a HIGHER WAGE than me right off the bat….despite my experience….despite his lack of experience….despite us having the same fucking job title…THIS is what we mean with the gender wage gap and sexism within pay inequality…
There is literally an experiment where employers were given two identical job applications…but they offered the applicant with a female name less than the one labeled under a male name….
https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/unofficial-prognosis/study-shows-gender-bias-in-science-is-real-heres-why-it-matters/
MEN, SERIOUSLY, STOP BEING SO WHINY and just….fucking deal ok? Sexism is real, women get paid less. Like….why are u so uptight that we point out injustice? Do you support inequality? I am guessing you do actually in your heart believe in equality so….why arent you with us? Why not just….help us point out inequality too?
And women…you dont gain anything by ignoring how you have been shafted…I get it, it’s painful to deal with all the ways sexism permiates our lives…being feminist is HARD and you don’t want men in your lives to suddenly start bullying you if you point shit out…You have been socially raised to always be ‘nice’ and accomodating of everyone, so you don’t wanna be one of THOSE women who ‘arent nice’…But like…we don’t get anything done by sticking our heads in the sand. Pointing out inequality is supposed to be a good thing that helps us. Pointing out inequality doesnt make us ‘devisive’.
@flowerfeminism you’ve been brainwashed. I’m sorry. Same job, same qualifications, same this same that… You end up with SAME PAY. Everytime we take into account everything, the pay gap disappears. It’s not that the actor is paid more because he’s male. It’s because he’s Robert Downey Jr and she’s Scarlet Johansson. That’s literally it. 1 is more notable and marketable than the other. In the same movie, Scarlet made more than Chris Evans… Waitresses actually often get higher tips than waiters. Waiters just typically work more hours and thus accumulate more tips. That being said, female model on average make up to 50% more than male models. Why? Demand. Women’s clothing and such is far more marketable than men’s. It’s really that simple. Equal Pay Act of 1963. It’s literally a federal offense to pay someone less due to gender and it’s been that way for over half a century. Feminists aren’t being taken seriously anymore because they’re fighting battles that they already won.
“When we take everything into account” is key though. Because EVERYTHING matters? Like, education, career prestige, hours, and demand matter and the fact that those factors have such a profoundly gendered effect MATTERS.
Also women are still raped in the United States. Don’t gotta leave to see what oppression looks like
Crimes are committed. No one denies that Men get raped in the US too…
If you have to try to convince everyone that you’re oppressed, then youre probably not
Just because assholes (who benefit from tje oppression of others) on the internet deny that oppression exists doesnt make it so.
Also I want to point out that @amarretto-cowboy had to literally tell someone that their personal life experience were wrong to have a point
I want to point out that @evicion has highly questionable reading comprehension because at no point did I say someones personal life experience was wrong.
Yeah okay that was a questionable use of the word “literally” I think “ignore” would actually be more appropriate
Either way. You’re insinuating that personal anecdotes constitutes as verifiable evidence of the wage gap existing.
My sister made more than my brother when they were working the same job at the same place.
Anecdotes can go both ways.
That’s my point.
Do you have a better argument outside of what you tried to put forth?
Well I can say that there could be a reason that your sister makes more than your brother does, and that your description of that situation was significantly less descriptive of the full situation.
And right there… You effectively proved my point.
Hence why anecdotal evidence is open to interpretation.
We don’t know the full information of the situation the was given earlier.
You still explained far less about the situation than they did, which is more what I was pointing to, and that it seems kinda hypocritical of you to say that other people aren’t giving the full story when you have a similar story but with fewer descriptors. It’s also worth noting the study that they cited which you seem to have completely ignored.
Ok fine. Same job, same title, same experience. My sis is paid more.
That’s the same amount of information flowerfeminism gave.
I don’t see you going after her for more information… Interesting.
I’m sure there’s far more to her story than she’s letting on.
What’s his educational background? Is he taking on company benefits? Was the wage negotiable? What was the current demand for the position? Did he have references?
All that matters, and all that was left out.
Its not hypocritical of me at all. I just didn’t take her story at face value and you proved my point by not taking mine at face value.
Okay most of that is fair but that last part seems a bit unfair because I didn’t take your story at the same value of flowerfeminism because they had given more information immediately, and I bet you’d have asked for more information from them if they hadn’t given more information.
Not unfair at all. We initially gave virtually the same amount of information. You just chose to pick at one. At least be honest about it.
Didn’t ignore the study. Go look it up
No you did not initially give the same amount of information you only gave the rest of the information after I pestered you for it. Also, by ignore I meant you didn’t mention it at all.
The only reason I even gave the story was because you tried to condemn me for not taking an anecdote at face value.
Now youre trying to dismiss my anecdote for providing slightly less information.
No matter how you slice it. Youre being disingenuous here.
I didn’t mention it because it’s an anecdote. A vague anecdote which has no more value than my anecdote.
You keep proving my point here.
@jelly-bean-machine thank you for that, haven't laughed like that in a long time.
(Joins discussion about pay gap, where proof was given that it doesn't exist)
You: yeah okay, but rape exists
@siryouarebeingmocked thoughts?
