for context:

the things on their heads are called "peinetas", which were a fashion stamp in buenos aires (argentina) during the xix century. at that time, buenos aires was an independent country and its admision into argentina was violently debated, featuring chaotic strikes and government repression. that's when these two girlies' story takes place.

this drawing features a formerly apolitical enby drop-out (left) that joined what became the argentinian civil war to protect their girlfriend's rights and prove themselves they're worthy of life and love. meanwhile, their girlfriend (right) is surviving college and scoliosis while praying that the love of her life doesn't get killed in the ongoing political turmoil.

or: a story of political awakening, self-worth, family expectations, disappointment, argentinian history, and queerness (lgb AND ESPECIALLY t).
