Look at them trying so hard to prove why Molly is the strongest female character in the history of television and not one peep about how John has saved Sherlock’s life on many occasions (including vice versa). Look how cute they are, trying to sound smart. Such darlings. Aw.

Loo blindly defending the ILY scene just because she got to say “I love you” to Mr. Sophie Cumberbatch is one thing, but there’s more to unpack here. Johnlockers saying that the scene was wrong is not “about ship shaming.” It’s about knowing what was wrong and what should’ve been done instead. It’s about standing up for a character who was thrown under the bus for the umpteenth time, and the maniac stans of that character for some reason foaming at the mouth that there are other people who would dare have something to say about their precious. The review is talking about the “unrequited love” and is yet another example of how everyone minus tumblr sherlollians is able to recognize the scene for what it is and realize how awful it is. As we’ve said 100x here, if the ship was really made canon, it would be clear to every single viewer, not just a handful of shippers trying desperately to prove to everyone that their one interpretation is undeniably right one.

Let’s put ourselves in Molly shoes for a minute.

There’s this guy that you like, though you know he’s kind of an asshole and he makes you feel small - like a mouse. You spend years trying to earn his attention - you dress up, do him favors that would get you in trouble, cancel plans with your bf, and do anything he asks. All you get in return are rejections, compliments that come with strings, and attention only when he needs something. He finds out you have feelings for him while he’s in the middle of publicly humiliating you. He always says such horrible things. You tell him so to his face, but it doesn’t change how you feel. 

You help him fake his death when he asks, because at the end of the day, you want to be there when he needs you. He disappears. You date while he’s gone, but your feelings for him remain untouched. You even get engaged to a man that looks and dresses similar to him, but it’s not the same.

When he comes home, he asks you to accompany him on a case. You get your hopes up that he’s finally come around, even though you have a fiance now. The case is fun, but he forgets your name - after all you’ve done for him. It hurts a little. He reassures you that you’re not a replacement for his usual partner, but you still take notes and do everything said partner would do because you feel like it’s what he wants. At the end, he congratulates you on your engagement and thanks you for your help. And even though he said you weren’t just a replacement, he never asks you to hang out again after he’s made up with his other friend. 

You tell him about how much sex you’re having with your fiance, just to see his reaction. He doesn’t care. You didn’t really think he would. He just uncomfortably moves the conversation on to what he really wanted - a favor. As always. 

You attend his best friend’s wedding and stare daggers at the pretty bridesmaid on his arm. Why does she get his attention so easily when you’ve been working for it for years? He throws her the boutonnière without even a second glance at you, and you feel a little stab of hurt. Because you can’t help how strongly you still feel for him. And you hate yourself for it. So much, that when you see him leave the wedding clearly upset, you continue dancing instead of making sure he’s okay like you once would have. 

You find out that he’s relapsed to drugs. You’re angry. And suddenly, you don’t care anymore about always putting on your best face to make him like you. You hit him. He throws your failed engagement in your face (which you knew was doomed to fail the moment he returned from the dead) and you resent him for it.

He comes to your flat in the middle of the night. He needs a place to stay, but insists that he needs your whole bedroom to himself. He needs the space - from you. Like always, whatever he needs, you give it to him. When he goes missing, you are forced to admit you let him do this. It’s so humiliating you hardly want to admit it. 

He relapses again months later, and guess who is called up to handle  cleaning up his mess? You. Always you. It’s you who they call when they need to pull strings or need a last minute favor no one else will do. That’s all you’re good for, apparently. 

You’re having a bad day. Alone. The phone rings, and it’s him. You’re done with him. You’ve had enough of his shit. You ignore it. It rings again. You answer.

He tells you to say “I love you.” You consider telling him to fuck off. You’re not an experiment. He insists, and you admit that you can’t say it because it’s always been true. And boy, do you hate how true it is, how much pain it’s caused you. He tells you to say it anyway - boy, do you hate that. But you insist on him saying it first. It takes him two tries to get it right, and then you say it back. It’s like a knife to your heart. 

He comes to your flat later and tells you that the “phone call” you had with him was actually him being threatened by his crazy sister who told him that unless you said “I love you” to him, you’d get blown up. “You bastard,” you say when he asks for your forgiveness. You’re pissed off at the fact that it was still all a lie. An experiment, just like you thought in the beginning. But fuck it, you think. You’ll forgive him. Deep down you always knew you would. Because he can do anything, literally anything to you, and you’ll allow it. He can play with your heart, use you, take your room, lie to you, and you’ll let him. But you’ll always pick yourself up and put a smile on your face the next time he asks for your help. Because that’s what you do, and it’s what you’ll always do. So might as well accept it, because that’s all he ever needs you for. 

SO LADIES: 

If he doesn’t manipulate you, only remember you exist when he needs something, forget your name when you’re hanging out, use you because he knows you’ll never say no to him, and only say “i love you” for the sake of getting a response .... what’s even the point???

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: Molly Hooper deserved better.

It’s just funny because Sherlock only called Molly in TEH when John refused to talk to him, and he even called her John during the case. Even though he said she’s “not being John” - he still never asked her on a case again after he and John made up. And even though Sherlollians called this a “date” - he never asked again even after her engagement ended. I guess that’s what Sherlock being “down to hook back up” looks like to them. 

It’s also funny cause this implies that they only weren’t together in S3 because Molly said no (due to her engagement), even though it was her was hoping he’d ask her out to dinner, and it was Sherlock who corrected her. I might be reading into things here, but it kiiiiinda seems like one of these people is far more invested in the relationship than the other...

They claim we pull shit out of thin air, that our mountains of evidence and analysis are “reaching.” - and yet they’re "UTTERLY CONVINCED” that this happened between Sherlock and Molly and they “had a thing” despite the fact that she was basically absent for most of S4.

Can the bar be set any lower? Worrying makes a ship canon? 

Mycroft says “I worry about him constantly.” Is Holmescest canon now too? 

Mrs. Hudson worries about Sherlock. Is she in love with him? 

This shit right here is what we mean by heteronormativity. 

Sherlock can die for John, kill for him, come back to life for him, say he likes him in front of his wife, say he loves him in front of a crowd, run in front of bullets to protect him, jump into a bonfire for him, suggest his first name sounds good with John’s last name, imagine them agreeing to elope, call him his Boswell, damsel in distress, helpmate, conductor of light, the bravest and kindest and wisest human being he’s ever known, ... but Sherlolly is canon because he worried about Molly.

Hi there anon, could you please provide one single receipt of us saying Sherlock and John hitting/shooting people is “cute?” While we’re waiting on that, you can entertain yourself with these receipts of your fandom cheering on unwarranted violence from Molly and Mary.

Where is that energy when it comes to John beating Sherlock in the morgue? That was just as unnecessary and pointless as Mary shooting Sherlock, but you rush to defend, excuse, and forgive one and not the other. 

“She is clearly on a redemption arc that would be embraced were it, say, John who shot Sherlock. Can you imagine how they’d rush to defend his actions if the story had gone that way?”

Well, John did beat Sherlock up... and I don’t see Johnlockers rushing to defend him for that, so I fail to see how we’d defend him for doing something far more severe, such as shooting him. 

But if John had shot Sherlock, would you be as forgiving towards him as you were for Mary? I think the fuck not.

Sorry, but where are these double standards? We hated it when Molly slapped Sherlock, when Mary shot him, AND when John beat him up.

And yes, we know Sherlock, John, and Mary all shot and killed people. But Mary shoots good guys to save herself and they shoot bad guys to save other people. Don’t ignore that fact and then act like we’re sexist when we say one is more excusable than the other. 

Go reread every single one of the above points if you want to see real double standards between male and female characters. Violence and murder are not okay just because it’s coming from a woman. This shouldn’t even have to be said.

I love how every time people try to diss Johnlockers, it always somehow ties back to sex, even though we’re the ones supposedly obsessed with our faves fucking

I also love the implication these “double standards” would be challenged the most if we saw Mary having straight sex, as opposed to, oh idk, her just being a better person. It’s not “Even if Mary became a literal saint, they’d still hate her!” It’s “Even if Mary fucked a man, they’d still call her evil!” As if having sex with a man automatically makes a woman morally irreproachable and more likable and erases all her past wrongdoings.

The fact that you even made this comparison shows that this has nothing to do with respecting or uplifting women - it’s just to do with with shipping.

Tag yourselves, we’re “What makes you think they could have met in uni? Do you even realize how much John is older than Sherlock?”

It’s called AU fanfiction. Meaning you can twist and bend the rules and have it so characters can be different ages, from different countries, have different professions, etc. 

Johnlock isn't everywhere because we “shove it down people’s throats.” It’s everywhere because it’s the most popular ship. That’s just the way it is. Don’t get butthurt because Johnlockers write more fics than you and outnumber every other ship by thousands. 

It’s fine if you ship Victor with Sherlock but stop bitching about other ships and fanfiction existing. No one is shoving anything down your throat. Or better yet. Let me introduce you to a handy little feature on AO3:

AA herself comes out and says it doesn’t make any sense for Mary to have shot Sherlock, but they still try to justify the (lack of) reasoning behind it. 

She says killed. Not shot. Not wounded. Killed. Yet Miz still wants to ignore Sherlock’s heart stopping on the monitor, Mary chasing after him when he escapes the hospital, and Sherlock having to talk her down from shooting him a second time.

To each their own, but I never want to hear their arguments of “BuT mOfTiSs SaID!! BuT BeN sAiD!! bUt MaRtIn SaId!!!” if they can’t handle it when one of their own faves destroys one of their most firmly held opinions.

A reply on our recent post comparing how John and Molly thought of Sherlock when FIRST meeting him.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate this logic of “and Sherlock appears to have reacted to her on that same level in the beginning.” Yes, that’s why he insulted her, turned down her date, and was as rude to her as possible. Because he likes her, obviously. (What is this, grade school?)

Second, I like how it’s all romantic and whatever when Molly is targeted. But are you forgetting how many times villains have targeted John as a way to get to Sherlock? Cause it’s happened a lot, but oh that’s just because they saw how much he platonically loved John, right? And unlike Molly, the threats to him were real, so like. What’s your point. 

And third. Your reply isn’t even necessary because the post wasn’t saying that Molly never saw Sherlock's humanity. It only said that, unlike Loo claimed, she didn’t see it before John did (or Mrs. Hudson or his parents). It just took her longer. That’s all. No need to get butthurt.

Yes it’s nice and all that Loo wanted to turn Moffat’s poorly written character into a fully fleshed human being. But I don’t necessarily agree with her statement that Molly saw the humanity in Sherlock before John did. Let’s look at how Molly felt about him the day they met, January 28th, only one (1) day before John came around:

What Molly “sees in him” is his dark fuck prince aura and a hot body. It’s a superficial schoolgirl crush at best. She clearly glorifies/romanticizes Sherlock in her mind, which is why the first few times she gets a glimpse of how coarse, rude, and indelicate he can be, she gets upset. Because what she’s seeing doesn’t match her fantasy of who she thinks he is. Around S3, she starts to accept that Sherlock is an incredibly imperfect human, and the sweet, shy Molly is slowly replaced with a more irritable one. After the final turning point in HLV (i.e. when she fully accepts that he’s not who she wants him to be), we never really see her staple kind/cutesy personality again. But unfortunately, she’s been hooked on Sherlock for so long at that point that she can’t shake off her feelings and she remains hung on on a man who she knows isn’t good for her. It’s really quite a tragic story if you think about it. 

Aka, it took Molly a while to see and accept the humanity in him, to get anywhere near where John is in the first episode.

When John first met him, he didn’t see a super cool, suave, mystery man. He instantly saw the human underneath the persona, the man who pretends he can guess the fortunes and acts like he doesn’t need friends, but he really does. Of course, the same romanticizing and infatuation from Molly’s blog is coming through in John’s writing too (fascinating, likable, charming, did I mention clever?), but he also calls him arrogant, rude, and pompous. Both positive and negatives are present because humans have both positive and negative in them, and John has always seen and accepted Sherlock as a human being, not a fantasy.

And for the love of god. For the hundredth time. NO ONE IS SAYING THAT MOLLY DOESN’T COUNT. We’re all watching the same show, and we all know she helped Sherlock with the fall. (Besides that though, if you remove all of her scenes, very little would change, but I digress).

You sherlollians just can’t understand how someone could possibly appreciate a woman for the minor side character she is without wanting her to fuck the male lead. It just doesn’t compute in your misogynistic, sex-obsessed, little brains how we can appreciate a female character and NOT make her a man’s love interest. You're almost as bad as those “ACD fans” who don’t think Holmes could respect a woman like Irene without wanting to sleep with her. 

Just because we don’t see Molly as a love interest doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate her or want a happy ending for her. Read some of our fics if you don’t believe us. Despite whatever bullshit you’ve heard from theleftpill, I promise you’d surprised at how we see and treat her.

We CREATED the TJLC tag for our own amusement. We didn’t create it to look down on anyone or badger them. YOU GUYS BROUGHT THAT UPON YOURSELVES.  Just read the links we provided in this post. There seems to be a running gag with you all that we have made your lives so FUCKING MISERABLE - and yet, you can only back it up with “jlockers are meanies.” 

Or could it be that the only receipts you have of doxxing, harassing, abuse, mocking, etc are those done BY YOUR OWN? Is that why you’re so afraid of coming forward?

We presume that the Johnlocker who made the tweet wasn’t really going to die, but the fact that Mark Gatiss basically told them to go ahead and die - and the amount of Sherlollians who liked and reblogged the post - was fucking disturbing.

Sherlollians - the same people who proclaim to be all about love - laughed along with a man who told us to die, and then posted pictures of graves directed at us, made fun of and belittled our hurt, and created an anonymous hate blog to collectively ridicule depressed and suicidal people.

And then they turn around and call Johnlockers toxic bullies.

Is it because a few Johnlockers sent you anon hate? Oh that’s interesting because you guys have done that too.

Is it because of a bit of improper tagging? You’ve done that too. 

Is it because of post hijacking? Ship hating? Bullying? Real people shipping? Hating on cast/crew? *checks notes* Yep, you guessed it. There’s not a single thing you can point to to claim that we’re a “toxic” fandom that YOUR side of the fandom has never done. 

Johnlockers have NEVER behaved like this when you guys get thrown under the bus. Remember when Moftiss confirmed the ily wasn’t genuine by saying Molly got over it by shagging someone? Did we gloat about it? No, we just reiterated how Molly was again thrown aside and mistreated for the sake of a male character’s growth. Something you guys keep ignoring despite claiming to be all about female empowerment.

You are the immature toxic bullies of the Sherlock fandom. You are the reason people are warned not to enter the Sherlock fandom. (Remember when you tried to “warn” the YOI fandom about us and they were like “actually we haven’t had a single problem from any of the newcomers”)

We’ll listen to your complaints about Johnlockers being a “toxic fandom” when you guys stop exhibiting the exact behavior you always accuse us of. Projection sure is a powerful thing, isn’t it.

Behold, examples where Johnlock writers have treated Molly well in their fics - just a few of the many

In some of these, she’s in a healthy relationship with someone who treats her well and makes her happy - but *gasp!* It’s not Sherlock! How dare we!

In some, she has a great friendship with Sherlock untainted by anyone catching feelings.

In some, she has a very close and loving bond with John instead. 

This is another response theleftpill’s baseless claims that johnlockers are just sooooo misogynistic and we treat Molly poorly in our fics. 

When she made her “femfirmative blog,” she said it was just ohh soooo hard to find johnlock fics that treated the female characters well, so she took it upon herself to weed out our “misogynistic” writing and rec “female-friendly” fics for all the Sherlollians interested in trying out johnlock (*whispers* none of them were genuinely interested. It was just a childish jab that died out in a few weeks). And in another post, she claimed that she hadn’t read any sherlolly fics where John was treated poorly, but could recall “at least half a dozen” (that means 6) of our fics where Molly was an eternally sad, pining woman. 

In case you’re wondering, we’ve never read ANY johnlock fics that present Molly as “eternally pining.” The closest they ever get to that is just having her exactly as she is in the show. If you think that’s misogynistic writing, theleftpill, then take it up with Moftiss, not us. If she actually read as much johnlock as she claims, she’d know that Molly is usually a good friend and/or is in a happy relationship. 

Now disclaimer: On AO3 there are 5,707 fics Sherlock/John fics with Molly tagged as an additional character. If you combed through each and every single one of those, there’s a possibility you might find some where Molly doesn’t meet Sherlollians standards. 

Likewise, there are 3,087 Sherlock/Molly fics that feature John Watson. Do you Sherlollians (particularly theleftpill) mean to tell me that in every single one of those, John is treated well, is a good bff for Sherlock, isn’t discarded or reduced to a Sherlolly cheerleader, isn’t a bumbling idiot, or an abusive, violent tyrant? 

No? Okay then. Shut the fuck up about how Johnlockers treat Molly in their fics. Because I GUARANTEE you, we treat Molly FAR better than you treat John - both in fanfic and in general discussions/headcanons on tumblr.
