Warms my heart to see that someone found my blue watercolor mermaid and changed her to be something new. I love that I’ve connected the dots, that it has come full circle. To witness her transformation makes me rosy. It is one of the reasons I love digital art - original images and gifs can always be changed, reworked - they are always becoming, whether we want them to or not. This, I embrace. I don’t think it is thieving or plagiarizing, it is simply a new day and age of art. Our art becomes its own, multiplies, divides, lives. I am heartened to know that my sweet mermaid blue has experienced the beginning of her own transformation, swimming in & out of the screens of hundreds of thousands of people, in her own mysterious way… this is just the beginning of her journey.
