i was quite disappointed to see that Elissabat’s G3 design so far looks basically the same as her G1 design just with gold and a hat, so i thought i’d draw up my vision for her :,D

i don't know anything about the concepts for g3 rochelle but i'm expecting her to be fat. she is the character with the most reason to be rebooted as fat, considering she is (i think) the only character in the franchise to have angst about being heavy. she cannot help being heavy because she's made of stone. she cannot change her body. she is perfect for themes about not Having to change her body. and especially given that there's other plus-sized characters, it would also be easy for mattel to be like. "even the ones that can change don't have to either"

a majority of my collection is monster high! it’s been my #1 favorite line since i was a kid and it’s also my special interest :) i do have a handful of others though, i have all 7 BTS x Mattel Idol dolls, Piper Peach from Yummiland, Luna from Decora Girlz and i have Akiko Kittyama from MirrorMi on the way ^_^

15. got any hot takes about dolls or a part of the doll community?

no, not really. i think my hottest takes are that G1 MH isn’t as great as people remember it. it was very bold and borderline revolutionary for it’s time because of it’s unique concepts, it was unlike anything else on shelves at the time, but at the same time it had quality issues such as the infamous wonky faces and the dolls have aged terribly, and around 2013 or so the fashion started going downhill and instead of very thought-out and individual outfits we just started getting like slip dresses and sweater dresses. i firmly believe that G3 is better in terms of quality and is starting to become better in terms of fashion!

and also i think bratz are super ugly

16. do you own props, accessories, furniture, or anything else for your dolls?

YES! i’m very careful about keeping all of my doll accessories safe and organized. i’m not missing a single accessory (except from my skulltimate roller maze Frankie who i bought secondhand so she didn’t come with her knee pads or stand). the only furniture i have is from my scare-adise island snack shack playset. my dream is to own a MH school dollhouse :)

i currently have 33 dolls, and Akiko from MirrorMi arrives tomorrow so i will have 34 in total! and yes i definitely want to expand my collection, i don’t have a goal amount in mind, i just collect the ones i like :)

parents are allowed to straight-up torture their kids with zero consequences. they can withhold food and water, lock you out of shelter, confiscate your belongings, bar you from human contact, attack and harm you and exert complete control over your physical appearance. and this is just the norm. if you speak out against it you're seen as a delinquent or a predator. even otherwise progressive people get uncomfortable with the idea of dismantling the nuclear family unit because they still see it as the best way to keep kids safe when that simply couldn't be further from the truth. it's evil.

This is also part of why I'm so loud about homeschool reform, specifically in the USA.

In the US, there is no meaningful legal definition for educational/academic neglect in any of the 50 states or federally. What this means is that a child can be "homeschooled" and exclusively be taught how to cook and clean, reach the age of 18 being unable to read, write, or count, and this alone is not considered neglect. That 18yo, should they even have the knowledge that suing exists, has no legal grounds to sue their parents for denying them an education.

In over 40 US states, a convicted child abuser can homeschool their children. So someone who has done time for child abuse and somehow regains access to their child(ren) can decide upon returning home that they want to "homeschool" their kids. Those children are now locked in a home with their abuser where nobody can see them.

There are no welfare checks.

There are no routine assessments.

There aren't even databases — state or federal — keeping track of how many homeschooled kids there actually are.

Meaning a child can be locked in their home for their entire life with their convicted abuser, learn absolutely nothing, never go to the doctor, and so long as that child is fed, clothed, and the abuse isn't physical or sexual, that child has almost no chance of rescue and no legal ground to seek restitution if/when they escape.

The only way homeschooled children get rescued is if they're beaten, starved, or physically neglected and they're able to get the right person to see that. Otherwise? They have to wait until someone finds out they were murdered as a result of their parents "homeschooling".

And feral homeschool parents love to jump down my throat about this, and then get even more pissed when I tell them I'm a homeschool alumni.

Because I know it's not all homeschoolers. But even one is too many, and the lack of protections should scare everyone. If you're a good homeschool parent, nothing will change. If not, you deserve whatever comes your way as a result of adequate oversight.

Children deserve rights.

i was out with my ex once when three *very* young queer kids, like thirteen years old, came up to us and asked us “are you guys, you know…” and did the limp wrist thing at us. one of them loudly exclaimed that it was so cool to meet other queer people in real life. this was in public in an unbelievably conservative area - we didn’t even feel safe holding hands because we were surrounded by Mormons. we got lucky that day, but I’m begging y’all to remember that the world doesn’t work like the internet. other queers are real fuckin people. don’t do this shit. OP is right; tell me you like my jacket, or my patches, or the rainbow spokes on my wheelchair, but don’t out either of us!

This used to be standard operating procedure not even ten years ago: NEVER OUT OTHER QUEERS, even if they’re supposedly already out. Never assume that it’s okay to let third parties know that so-and-so is queer. Ever. You never know when you’ve found the one uncle with the heart condition that they can’t bear to risk telling, or the one neighbor who’s just threatening enough that they don’t mention it around, or even the grandma that they haven’t gotten around to mentioning it to yet. You might have just ruined a very important milestone for someone, or you could have put them at actual risk of harm.

Also… stop freaking assuming. If you don’t see a pride flag on them, please don’t just assume. You can’t tell ANYTHING about a person’s gender or partner preferences by what they’re wearing on any given day, what their hair looks like, or whether or not they’re using makeup. You legit cannot, and you look like a jerk when you try.

Even if you live in a big city that does have a noticeable LGBTQ+ scene, don’t do this. You don’t know 1) The people the person you have assumed to be queer is with, and 2) How the people around you will react. Like Astra said, we are living in a time with Trump and his followers running a lot of shit, and feeling comfortable in their environment. The most dangerous person is a comfortable bigot.

You have got to “read the room.” So many queer, and primarily trans people — especially trans women of color — have been killed this year. Last May there was 15 or more THAT WE KNEW OF who had been brutally murdered. Even in “queer-friendly” states. In college towns. In and around big cities, which tend be painted as safer due to them often being overwhelmingly “blue.” The U.S. is not safe right now. From what I have heard, neither is the UK, and parts of Canada are slipping. It’s getting rough out here, and the best way you can protect your queer peers is to know when and where and who it is safe to talk about being queer around.

and another thing that bothers me to no end is when people are only okay with the representation when it “”makes sense””. like, Frankie being non-binary is only okay because “it makes sense ! they’re made of multiple people” ok but what if they weren’t? how does that make it anymore “sensible”? why can’t they be non-binary because they just are? how does Clawdeen being black “not make sense”? do these people know that minorities exist in real life and our existence doesn’t have to “make sense” and we deserve to be represented regardless of if it “fits the story” or not
