here are my rwrb/guts opinions that nobody asked for but i’m giving anyway:
- “all american bitch” is so alex claremont-diaz it’s crazy. “i got class and integrity. just like the goddamn kennedy, i swear” “i know my place, and this is it” “i don't get angry when I'm pissed. i'm the eternal optimist. i scream inside to deal with it.”
- same with “bad idea right?” like, it’s just him coded
- lacy is henry about alex before the red room. he worships him so much but he thinks alex doesn’t like him and henry knows he can never have him. “i see you everywhere. the sweetest torcher one could bear” “smart, sexy lacy i’m losing it lately” “lacy, oh lacy, i just loathe you lately, and i despise my jealous eyes and how hard they fell for you” LIKE COME ON
- “ballad of a homeschool girl” gives me ‘henry feeling separated from the rest of society because of who he is’ vibes. “the party’s done and i’m no fun, i know, i know.”
- “making the bed” is actually just henry when he leaves alex at the lake house “push away all the people who know me the best, but it’s me who’s been making the bed.”
- “get him back” is one of the most alex songs in the world. i don’t rlly think an explanation is needed for that. like, just the name alone SCREAMS alex. “do i love him, do i hate him? i guess it’s up and down” “i want sweet revenge and i want him again.” ALSO THIS LINE, “ he said he’s six-foot-two and i’m, like, ‘dude nice try’” LIKE COME ONNNN
- “love is embarrassing” is henry when he sees alex dancing with and kissing the girls at the new year’s party. “i told my friends you were the one after i’d known you like a month. and then you kiss some girl from high school” “you found a new version of me, and i damn near started world war III. jesus, what was i even doing.” everything about this song is henry actually.
if you read all of that you’re a real one thank you.
