@shiny-cthulhu
Alright, fellow DMs, I need a hand.
One of my players has decided that she wants to multiclass into wizard, from a tiefling rogue swashbuckler. She is a pirate.
And I don't know the best way to handle this.
The only reason she has given me is that she wants to have ranged attacks but doesn't want a crossbow or javelin or anything.
Her wife (NPC) is a wizard so her thing right now is just that "her wife taught her" but also like, she hasn't seen her wife in over a month and where does her spell book come from and I'm kind of caught.
I don't want to completely shut her down but I'm not sure how to make a rogue3/wizard 1 work as she never even had formal education or anything...
Any ideas or thoughts?
I'm reblogging this here so that it can spread further.
She is very committed to this so...
A wizard’s spellbook is something personal to them, with each book having a specific notation that only the owner can replicate perfectly (like for copying spells). Really, she only needs something to write on and expensive ink to write stuff down for her spells.
Easiest option IMO would be to just have her remember the spellbook or have the spellbook arrive from her wife with a little note like “oh! You forgot this!”
Otherwise, for more role playing purposes, I would have the wizard find/buy/steal the ink and paper (and possibly some spells), and/or find a magic user or someone who sells spell scrolls so that she can start copying down the spells.
Personally, I think it could be interesting to have a newly-fledged wizard running around with 8 sheets of paper loosely bound by a paperclip until she finds a journal (if she doesn’t buy that immediately) that’s a bit more protected from the elements. It’ll take time to write down the level one spells, but the Cantrips don’t take too long to note, so she can get those at-will ranged spells right off the bat. Once she gets those and a couple 1st level spells, you can have her find the other ones she wants to fulfill the six wizards get at level 1 with a bit more ease. Beyond that, you can sprinkle in spells here and there that she can always add later on, especially if she pursues the wizard class in more levels.
Hope this helps! Happy adventuring!
I accidentally made eye contact with a mall booth salesperson and barely escaped a 25 minute long skin care demonstration where she tried to trap me in a sale no less than 4 times
The rules of engagement for mall kiosk owners and pokemon trainers are exactly the same
Link must be down right terrifying for normal people in Hyrule to encounter.
He’s like a fucking heroic cryptid.
Just imagine it, your village/region/kingdom is under attack by some monster or another and out of the trees this slender little twunk appears and immediately starts acting like he’s gonna help.
And you’re skeptical of course cause look at him.
And then you find out that he’s basically a one man army who just fuckin wrecks the dragon/god/monsters/etc terrorizing your place before he breaks all of the pots in town and disappears again.
Shit must be wild.
Your village has a statue of Link that’s built between his reincarnations, and people put clay pots around it as offerings and thanks.
One day some fucking kid shows up, breaks all your worship pots, and runs off without anything more than a “YAAAH!” as they jump off a cliff into the forest below. You’re confused as fuck but your great-grandmother is weeping like she just saw a god.
its like if you met jesus and he was a gremlin
i think edward elric entire military experience can be summarized as john mulaney’s “horse loose in the hospital” bit
there is a CHILD ALCHEMIST LOOSE IN THE STATE MILITARY!
NOBODY KNOWS WHAT THE CHILD IS GOING TO DO, LEAST OF ALL THE CHILD!
HE’S NEVER BEEN IN THE MILITARY BEFORE!
They interviewed a man who once saw a baby in a restaurant.
WE’VE ALL SEEN A BABY IN A RESTAURANT!!!
THIS IS A CHILD. LOOSE IN THE MILITARY.
@dalethesjtoddler
And then, for a second, it seemed like maybe we could survive the child, and then, 5 miles under the capital city, an evil homunculus was like, “I have a huge transmutation circle and I’m going to kill everyone to become god!” And before we could say anything, the child was like, “If you even fucking look at Amestris, I will punch you to death with my fists. I dare you to do it. I want you to do it. I want you to do it so I can take my unresolved daddy issues out on you, I’m so fucking crazy.”
This post was written by Roy Mustang
Sometimes it’s not a bad thing, just surprising. Like, “Today the child did alchemy without a transmutation circle,” and everyone is like, “Huh, I didn’t know he could do that.”
The creepiest days are when you don’t hear from the child at all. Those are the days when everyone is like “I think the child has finally calmed down,” and then the child is like “I just uncovered a government conspiracy. I went in that secret lab and snuck in there with my tiny body. I have a tiny body, but don’t you tell me that, or I’ll fuck you up,” and you’re like “That’s what I thought you’d say, you tiny fucking child.”
And then for a second we’re like “Maybe the government will fire the child,” and the child is like “I have dismantled the government.”

also a galaxy brain level hot take here: arbiter best halo character you can’t change my mind
listen. all I’m saying is that halo 2 came out in 2004. I was a very conflicted 11 year old mormon, struggling with my faith. and to see someone who had the courage to turn his back on the faith he was raised in once he realized he was being used? someone who was willing to change his ways and do the right thing? and he was the good guy?
hmmm
the arbiter, with pain in his voice: tartarus… the prophets have betrayed us.
me:
How is this a hot take? The arbiter is outright the best Halo character. Keith David doesn’t suffer fools
it’s a hot take because, upon Halo 2′s release, many of the fans at the time thought the Arbiter was the “boring one.” and yes, they were absolutely wrong, but that sentiment still holds favor with a lot of Halo fans today– and even the studios themselves. The Arbiter has only been a playable character in two games while Master Chief has been playable in five. of those two, only Halo 2 had levels that were explicitly Arbiter-centric storylines. with the exception of the Arbiter’s small cameo in Halo 5, he’s a character who has definitely not gotten the attention he deserves. in this essay, I will make my case for a game centered solely upon Thel ‘Vadam

The reason so many men are hating on Captain Marvel is bc NOTHING about her was made to cater to their gaze. her suit? practical/non-sexualized. her personality? not a stereotype. the actress who plays her? a feminist who wont take any shit. THAT pisses men off & its a good thing.
ALL OF THIS
*my parents.
And my GREAT Grandma is still alive soooo……..
My GRANDMA
My FATHER went to a LEGALLY MANDATED segregated school until he was 8 and integration was then enforced. He was not legally allowed into a school or part of town with white people until he was almost ten
Many people forget black people couldn’t even vote until 1965. That’s not that long ago.
for the vast majority schools within the south, substantive de-segregation was completed only in like circa 1975. thats like fucking 20 years after Brown v. Board of education.
My father is 52 and he chopped cotton in Louisiana as a child until he was 11
Less than 65 years. King was murdered in 68, which was effectively the end of the movement and beginning of the Black Power era. My parents were both born in the 50s in the Jim Crow south, and remember it vividly. One of my mom’s friends was even killed at the 16th Street Baptist Church. People are delusional for acting like this was all so long ago.
There were schools in the U.S that still had segregated proms in 2012. Shit is still happening it’s not all in some distant past.
@miaamoeba
remember way back in 2006 when the wii first came out and then the entirety of the world forgot how to hold onto something with a firm grasp so much that nintendo had to make a shock absorbing condom just so that tvs wouldnt get destroyed when people would end up sending this thing flying at their tvs at 900 miles per hour
A lot of those incidents were with Wii Bowling, which to me implies that people didn’t so much forget to how to hold something, as they forgot they weren’t holding a bowling ball and weren’t in a bowling alley.
You can only reblog this today.

Don’t shop at Game Stop during April… They’re supporting Autism $peaks.
Oh. Joy. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/gamestop-partners-autism-speaks-autism-140428640.html
Okay, please don’t boycott GameStop. Corporate will not understand why you’re doing this and blame the employees for failing to drum up business.
Instead, go as you usually do, decline to make a donation, and do that little website survey almost everyone ignores. That survey is your voice to corporate. Tell them using that why you don’t approve of Autism Speaks, perhaps suggest better charities to follow. Let them know that if they continue to support this organization, they’ll lose business.
THIS! THIS THIS THIS THIS!
i notice that tumblr dot com has their black history month banner up, and that’s nice, but i feel like any even more fun black history month activity would be deleting all the white supremacist blogs
Virtue requires a delicate balance.
This could be a great set of descriptors for tracking social stats in a game.
Woah
A good chart for character development, especially when contrasting how they are vs. how they see themselves.
