While everyone was all “Debbie would’ve fit in great with the Addams Family because she was a sadistic psychopath,” the truth is no, she could never be one of them.

The thing about the Addams Family is that, for as much as they love to torture, torment, and try to kill one another, they do it because to them it’s a game. It’s something they do because deep down they love each other and it’s something they consent to do. What makes Gomez and Morticia so great as a couple is that they love AND they respect each other. They treat one another as equals in their routine of bondage and mayhem. Wednesday and Pugsley frequently try to kill one another but they’re still brother and sister and to them it’s simple sibling rivalry.

The family doesn’t really go out of its way to hurt other people unless A: they’re assholes, or B: they’re in on the game and consent to it. The first film’s villains died because they didn’t understand what family meant. The second film’s co-villains, the blonde campers and the counselors, got the shit kicked out of them because they’re close minded, self absorbed racists who degraded anyone that wasn’t white.

The problem with Debbie is that she’s selfish and cares only about herself. She managed to get a husband who worshiped her and would’ve given her anything she wanted, and all she did was try to kill Fester. She rants about deserving love when she’s incapable of ever giving it back. The Addams were listening to her life story and they clearly loved hearing every minute of it, but Debbie couldn’t see it because to her she is the perpetual victim, no matter who she’s dealing with. She asks if the Addams Family ever really loved her when she never gave them a chance, but even when they did see the real her it wouldn’t have mattered because Debbie’s mind has been made up for years.

Just because you’re into murder and mayhem doesn’t qualify you alone to belong to the Addams Family. If you aren’t capable of love and respect, you’ll never fit in with them.

Whether or not it actually is given deep narrative weight by canon itself is of secondary importance to the fact that it has the potential to be interesting, and thus, I covet it.

“This episode of Sitting and Smiling features a very special guest. About 2.5 hours into the webcast, I hear someone come into the house, which is odd, because my only housemate is at work, and we aren’t expecting anyone. I realize I didn’t check to see if the doors were locked before starting the webcast. I hear the person stealthily moving around the house, and then I hear them stealthily climbing the stairs, towards my room. My door opens, and I hear an unfamiliar male voice say “Hello?”. Then, after presumably seeing me sitting still and smiling in front of a camera, lit from beneath by a florescent bulb, he promptly descends the stairs and exits the house.

As it turns out, the doors were locked, and he had broken one open. We found nothing missing, as there is not really anything of value in the house other than the laptop I was using to webcast.“

I was about to say “I haven’t seen this premise but I’d definitely assume the energy drink was evil somehow after seeing 2-3 ads for it” but then realized you didn’t mean like billboards for a fictional in-universe energy drink but things like characters drinking a real-life energy drink and commenting on how great it tastes in the middle of important scenes.

Yes, exactly. You’re 100% correct that the twist would totally telegraph itself if it was a fictional energy drink; the gag only works if the obnoxious product placement is for a real, pre-existing brand. Like, imagine playing Parasite Eve 2 and rolling your eyes at the fact that clearly branded cans of Coca-Cola are one of the most cost-effective healing items in the game*, then finding a secret ending where it’s revealed that the baddies have secretly been manipulated by the Coca-Cola Company.

@crystalthecool for the most part just keeping awareness up helps. Making it a big deal and pointing out just how fucked up it is actually does help put it into perspective for the Filipinos who have no idea just how serious the situation is (mainly because awareness and education are so lacking that most Filipinos don’t even know what the CHR does and will just parrot Duterte when he says he doesn’t like it)

The budget hasn’t been finalized but with Duterte’s well documented vendetta against Human Rights and his friendship with the Marcos family aka the reason the Human Rights Commission was created in the first place after Ferdinand Marcos stole billions during a two decade Martial Law era which saw the torture, disappearance and death of thousands of Filipinos we’re not very optimistic about it.

Unarmed Black Man With Hands Up Shot By Police.

Charles Kinsey, 47, a behavior therapist from South Florida was shot in the leg three times by the police in North Miami while laying on the ground with his arms up and trying to help his patient with autism who had run away from a group home.

It all started when someone called 911 and said there was a man walking around with a gun. However it was Kinsey’s patient who was sitting on the ground cross-legged, playing with a toy truck.

Charles got shot by police despite telling them he was only trying to help his patient.

The police shot him, handcuffed him and left him on ground bleeding.

North Miami police have not released much information at all. They haven’t released the officer’s name, they haven’t given us an update on the investigation. However, they did say that the state attorney is now a part of this investigation.
