I think if you gathered all the Lex Luthors from across the Multiverse (and were able to keep them from immediately fighting each other like a room full of cats), they would all eventually agree that Rogue Scientist Who Harasses Superman Every Day is the ideal lifestyle.

Yes, being the president of the United States is a fun power trip, but you're never allowed to shoot a giant handheld laser at your foes. Yes, being a billionaire CEO is extremely posh and gratifying, but you are constantly dealing with other people and their stupid questions. "Why are we building this giant robot? Why do you have so many pictures of Superman? How will a moon base benefit the shareholders?" Yes, being in the equivalent of the Justice League is incredible and soothes that pesky conscience, but sometimes Superman does not want to be under your constant, direct observation, and you're just supposed to accept that?

All modern versions of Lex are forced to take a day job to facilitate their true passions: mad scientist shit and stalking Superman.
