someone told me americans don’t have roundabouts and i’ve been thinking about it all week
how
Wtf is a roundabout?
i’m shook
it has come to my attention some people are not acquainted with roundabouts (latin roundus boutus). here is a handy guide for spotting different types in the wild:
this is a common/garden roundabout in its natural habitat. it prefers rain and dying grass as food sources.
this is its child. it may appear small and unassuming, but just watch it take down even the mighty range rover as it tries to make the tight bend.
sometimes they have twins instead. they resemble a pair of glasses, or tits. i once watched an old lady drive straight through both unharmed. would not recommend. deceptively dangerous.
this is a fancy ass roundabout, the average roundabout’s cousin. it has just returned from its gap year in thailand. its hobbies include condescendingly explaining simple concepts using complicated words and smiling with an air of superiority.
lastly, the most feared kind. only the bravest may take on this wild beast and survive. this is the magic roundabout. its young grow around it in grotesque sacs, bewildering the unlucky driver just trying to pop to the shops to get some milk. it is too late to save him now. tell his family he loved them. this is the end. the magic roundabout is the only true god. fear him.
where da fuck is that last one located so i can never go there in my life because what the actual hell
the next time you think you’re lonely, just remember you have about 25 billion white blood cells in your body protecting your sorry little ass with their life. you have 25 billion friends who would die for you. no need for tears.
thank you osmosis jones
My immune system tried to kill me though.
Jordan just remember you had twenty five billion enemies trying to kill you and you’ve survived them all
Take THAT you tiny goddamn sons of bitches.
Now I'm really curious...Reblog this if you're 20 or older.
The lack of notes.
I reblogged this in my mom jeans
IIM NOT OLD LIKE YOU! I AINT OLD!!!“
(I’m in denial)
A common occurrence in my life.
HI KIDS

everything will work out the way it’s meant to

The white male style of debate is to antagonize you until you snap. Then they win by default, because they make up their own rules in which being upset automatically invalidates your argument. The key is also to argue about things that they have no stake and experience in, so they dont snap first. Of course in the event that they do snap first, its of course passion, not anger…
White people are like little kids who make up new rules and obnoxious powers to keep themselves from losing….
At the end of it all, they are happy that you are so civil and can debate things rationally and clearly without getting upset. Everyone shakes hands and thanks everyone for being able to discuss “conflicting” viewpoints. Because after all everyone needs to hear the opposing side to truly be sophisticated. Even if you’ve heard that side all your life and it completely devalues you as a human being.
What i hear is that the mark of civilization to white people is being dehumanized and taking it like a champ.
They also have little to no concept of power dynamics in these ‘sophisticated” discussions.
Why I stopped indulging people who followed this argumentative “format”
This is so real and applicable to every dinner party I’ve ever been to
This is a particularly aggressive form of Sealioning.
Sealioning is the name given to a specific, pervasive form of aggressive and willfully intentional cluelessness, that masquerades as a sincere desire to understand.
A Sealion is someone who, when confronted with a fact that they don’t care to acknowledge, say, the persistence of systemic racism in America, will ask endlessly for “proof” and insist that it is the other person’s job to stop everything they are doing and address the issue to their satisfaction.
The purpose of Sealioning is never to actually learn or become more informed. The purpose is to interrogate. Much like actual interrogators, Sealions bombard their target with question after question, digging and digging until the target either says something stupid or is so pissed off that they react in the extreme. The other major reason why people hate Sealioning is because responding to it is a complete waste of time.
It’s an insidious trap. Responding to questions asked reasonably is, of course, a natural thing for people to do. I like to do it myself; educating others is generally pretty entertaining, especially if they are receptive to learning. Dismissing those questions can appear condescending or rude, especially if you actually are condescending or rude.
Of course, these questions are not asked because the person asking them genuinely wants to know the answer. If they did, they would do their own digging based on your statements, and only ask for obscure or difficult-to-discover information. This is the “debate principle”. It is best explained thusly: When you go to a debate, you educate yourself on the topics at hand, and only request evidence when a claim is either quite outlandish or unflinchingly obscure.
No, these questions are asked to make a responder waste their time. It works, too; I’ve responded to Sealions before, answering all their questions and claims for evidence, only to be greeted by even more willful ignorance. It’s a way to force people into responding to questions phrased neutrally but asked in bad faith.
The name “Sealioning” comes from a most splendid webcomic, “Wondermark”, by David Malki.
It can be found here: http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/873260-sea-lioning
Sealions are just “asking nicely” but they are asking questions that have been asked and answered fully many times, and are unwilling to so much as open a new tab to look up the answer, nor will they recognize the validity of your sources, your experience or expertise no matter what you do. It is impossible to satisfy a Sealion.
Make no mistake.
Sealioning is a specific form of harassment. You may not explain their inquiry has already been address. You may not cite a source. You may not refer to a previous answer. You definitely may not ever point them to a link. You must spend all your time and energy responding as much as you can to every little details of every innocent, polite little question they ask. Sealioning isn’t a sincere attempt at anything. It’s a calculated technique to grind an opponent down.

im screaming so loud
Building a treehouse is the biggest insult to a tree. “I killed your friend, here hold him.”
“Friend”
Its more of I killed a potential enemy. Hold his dismembered corpse in victory.
Plants don’t wage war
Ever heard of blackberries?
Yes, plants do wage war
Mint and strawberries, too. They need to be quarantined or they will kill basically everything else.
I planted mint in the ground 2 years ago.
It’s currently fighting a bitter battle to the death against the raspberries attempting to invade from the east while trying to annex the patio.
Could go either way at this point TBH. Unless, of course, I take a shovel and the blowtorch out there and battle both back to within their original boundaries.
And anyone wondering if a blowtorch is overkill for weeding back mint has never actually planted mint.
This post did not go where I expected it to.
Our garden plot at my childhood home slowly got overrun by wild blackberries after we stopped managing it while my sister and I were in nursing school. And by overrun I mean it was like a 4 foot tall thicket of wild blackberries. It hadn’t been touched by humans in at least 4 years. I started the ultimately futile task of trying to clear this plot with a machete and discovered to my amazement a patch of mint several feet across underneath the canopy of blackberry, still fighting the good fight all those years later.
Ultimately it took two jars of homemade napalm and some creative fire placement to clear that patch but I damn sure saved that patch of mint. It earned the right to be there.
Yall mother fuckers don’t even talk unless you’ve had to wage war on kudzu (it’s an ivy strain directly from Hell) that shit doesn’t just wage war with other plants, it wages war with all living things on planet earth. It’s some gnarly ass Blood for the Blood God, Chlorophyll for the Chlorophyll Throne demon weed.
Can second the comments of Kudzu.
I forget where I read it but there’s this one tree that creates an extremely flammable substance that’s in both the bark and leaves. Dead trees become torches and crushed up leaves become dust-incendiary, all while the plant’s seeds are Giant Redwood levels of resilient to open flame. IE it has a goddamn scorched earth policy. It’s even more badass than plants that use toxins to starve other plants.
Plants have been on this planet for longer than any animal or insect species. how in the name of holy fuck do you think they survived this long?
there are millions of plants that choke out other plants, kudzu/mint/raspberries being only a few examples.
Epiphytes are plants that grow on top of other plants and smother them that way.
There are dozens of species(and I’m lowballing here bc I’m drunk and don’t wanna exaggerate) of plants that are straight-up parasites to other plants.
hell, plants have evolved to be straight-up deadly to any animal idiot enough to try to chomp on em. sometimes you don’t even have to eat em.
like, the kingdom Plantae is an intricately balanced system in which everybody’s got a gun aimed at everyone else’s heads. Plants are way more experienced at war than we (or any animals) are. they’re just trickier and more subtle about it than we will ever be
Plant warfare is what keeps our warfare up at night, historically
The only time I’ve heard of plants behaving nicely is when their siblings are involved. THE ONLY TIME. They’re pretty chill around siblings and parent plants.
There are these really strange ferna in my yard that, given the chance, will grow to the size of a full grown pine tree
And by given the chance i mean they grow a foot or so a week
And we would cut this bitch down and it would be back tall as ever in just a few days
Plants absolutely wage war
