i love how complicated striders relationships are and i think i could say a lot because i have sooo many thoughts about them!!! but tbh i tried to make sense of these pics with text only after i finished drawing lol

back on my status effect whump bullshit. what if sleep effects during battle feel like sleep paralysis. you're more conscious than not, and you cannot move, and no matter how much you scream at yourself to wake up, you can only watch as the fight goes on.

what if you see your friends die while you're under, and you don't know if it's the dream? what if you've hallucinated more enemies out of nothing, but you can't move to shout them out--and you still don't know if they're even real? what if, when you're asleep, the battle becomes safer than your mind? what if you trade one nightmare for another? what if you never know which is which?

Shout out to a choked sob escaping from Whumpee's mouth. Easily one of the best sounds to escape from there

whumpee whose injuries are made to look like a suicide attempt. when they insist that is not the case and that it was whumper who did it, no one believes them. why would they after whumpee was found half-dead on the floor the night before?

(bonus points if its because whumpee used to be suicidal in the past. they had gotten better since but no one believes that now and they treat it like a relapse)

one of the best parts of making up increasingly wild and specific aus with a friend is sending them posts like "this is sooo blorbo in torture chamber au number 15" and they reply back like "YESSS btw have i told you about my latest idea for how to torture them even more" and you get to enjoy a little snack and kick your feet with glee

Inflict barbed wire on your Whumpees!

As a fence - keeping Whumpee locked in and unable to escape

As a cause for wounds - cutting Whumpee's arms, legs and/or other body parts open on with painful bleeding wounds

or get Whumpee all tangled up in it!

As a restraint - tie Whumpee up with barbed wire; painful and restricting, maybe even more so to get it removed

Magic Whump/Angst Prompt List

Based off of my SOA magic system that should probably post, because yesterday was my birthday, these are basically my truest fave tropes

When heartbreak/grief affects a character's magic

Magic backfiring often having the same effects as a gun backfiring

When the stress and trauma is genuinely killing the character

The variance of scars caused by magic. Necrotic scars from dark magic. Colorful scars from haphazard spellcasting. Lighting scars that refuse to fade. Leathery skin from overuse of fire magic. Discolored fingertips, foggy eyes, rapidly graying hair, gimme gimme gimme

Nose bleeds from overuse? A class. But what about... tinnitus, blurred vision, dizzying, loss of appetite, weight loss, tingling/numbness, loss of balance, paling skin, weakened immune systems, muscular pain, oh I could go on

Soldiers collapsing mid battle from using their magic too much

Squad mates holding up their comrade so that they can keep casting magic, despite their weakness and inability to stand for themselves

Watching magic trace through someone's veins before it conjures into reality

Magic whiplash, magic friendly fire, magic misfire? Yes yes and yes

Curses are such a common thing, that they're basically a disability, and yes people discriminate against the cursed of course

A healer whose hands have been atrophied by arthritis after nonstop days of tending to the wounded, their skills growing more jagged and unrefined
