My brain says write.
But my heart says buy more cosplay.
This is a conundrum.
I bought $100 worth of new cosplay stuff... oops...
Random insomnia fueled Hawks rant because he lives in my brain tent free.
I know there’s been a lot of back and forth in the mha fandom about his character, because the fanon interpretations of him have gotten to be a little... much... Like not to shit on other people’s headcanon’s but the “Oh he’s a bird so he does mating dances” thing is weird let’s be real. He’s a human with feathers he can move telekinetically and that’s that. (He might not even have actual wing appendages but that’s a rant for another day)
But going past that, fanon Hawks is known to be a huge flirt and whatnot, while manga readers argue that canon Hawks wouldn’t know how to because he was raised by the Commission and therefore lacks those sort of interpersonal skills. I’ve seen some people go as far as to say that he probably has no personality what so ever and everything he does is just a front. But that just seems so extreme to me? On both sides? I could be totally wrong, but I see Hawks as comparable to Black Widow, not like the Winter Solider. Raised to be a tool of the government, but still has his own thoughts and feelings. Hell, we SEE that in the manga and anime when we read/hear his internal monologues. He’s not mindless. He might do what the Commission tells him because he doesn’t really have another option, but he’s cynical about some of their decisions. And he also could still be interpreted to be the flirt. Maybe not the sex icon the fandom has him pegged as, but as a hero (and a very popular one at that) he knows how to work people. He knows how to make them like him. What better way to do that than to be a little bit flirtatious at times? Sure you could call that manipulation, but I can imagine after his traumatic childhood, a part of him does like having the attention and adoration of those around him. He probably feeds off that reassurance that some people out there care about him in one way or another.
Idk that’s just me. Maybe I’m letting the interpretation I have written of him in my fanfiction cloud my judgement, but I feel like that fits the best? He’s a complicated character (a lot of mha characters are honestly) and trying to sort him into “fanon Hawks” and “canon Hawks” categories just takes away from the fact that his character isn’t black and white. He’s a gray character and it’s purposefully done that way.
pancakes are made of eggs omfg
Y’all are crazy if you think a chicken won’t happily eat eggs. Y’all insane if you think a chicken won’t tear some nuggets UP. You are ON CRACK if you think a chicken won’t just, eat another injured chicken
Me and some friends were collecting eggs on this farm. We dropped one of them and they went absolutely apeshit over that damn egg. Not even the shell was left.
I know people think chickens are herbivores but they absolutely aren’t.
Chickens are omnivores. They eat meat, they eat eat all sorts of fruits and vegetables.
This isn’t really well known to people who live off of farms or who have never spent time on one. It’s also thanks to tv and movies not showing this side of chickens.
It’s why eggs and chicken meat saying they come from “free-range vegetarian chickens” are HILARIOUS, because if they’re free-range, you can’t control that, and the tiny dinosaurs ARE going to eat a lot of things. And if a mouse meets an early demise because it came near the tiny dinosaurs … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As a kid I once threw the neighbor’s chickens a chicken nugget just to see what would happen.
Answer; they fuckin demolished it. Tore it apart and wolfed it down in seconds.
Rose tinted chicken glasses used to be a very common invention for chickens, because if they saw a speck of blood on another chicken they would gang up on it and murder it to death and feast on it.
Actual piranhas don’t act like Hollywood piranhas.
Chickens, however, do act like Hollywood piranhas. Those fuckers get a taste for blood and they become fucking ravenous fiends. They’re still very much dinosaur.
Pancakes are looking a little tame, huh?
chickens are the descendants of dinosaurs and they know it
Who makes their pancakes with eggs in them?
Legit always forget people dont know this about chickens
I lived on a farm for most of my life with chickens (one of them is like 11+ years old), and even now at our new house we still have hens for eggs (no roosters)
We feed them chicken feed and proper nutrition, but we also give them table scraps because they love thats stuff. Keep in mind we are a vegetarian household, but that still includes stuff like eggs and cheese
When the eggs are in their nest, the hens don’t touch em unless laying on them. But if one is cracked open or we dropped it, or we brought some in the house and it got bad, we give it to them. They freaking swarm eggs like no other food we offer
So ya, chickens
are we going to ignore the dude that apparently commits the blasphemy of not putting eggs in your pancakes.
baby just noped his way outta there
me [likes a thing]: hey, i like this thing!
brain: excellent. you will be unable to think about anything other than that thing for a period lasting from several weeks to a number of years.
That awkward moment when you post a new chapter of your fic and people unfollow/unkudo it...
I don’t write for likes or anything but considering I was already on the fence about that chapter it sorta low key makes me regret the time I put into it 🙃🙃
*saves game six times just in case*
“Why am I so good at reading smut but not writing it?”
-an autobiography
Shameful cosplay Instagram plug since a few people followed me for my cosplay post 😬
That feeling tho when you find that fic writer that just absolutely fucking
understands the characters to their core
writes so well they–just so–they just—their writing is—-THEY WRITE GOOD
shatters your bad mood with a new update
writes a fic that you can read over again and still clutch at your heart like HOLY SHIT I FUCKING LOVE–I LOVE THIS FIC
writes a scene that has you all giddy in public and that one random stranger asks you like “ooo you are smiling :) :) is that a boy :) you are talking to :)” and you’re like “no I’m reading a Everybody Lives/Nobody Dies AU, please leave”
understands and portrays the characters better than the people who make MOVIES with those characters
amazing. just amazing. fic writers are awesome
Two of MANY photos from my Fem!Hawks progress photo shoot! I love how this is slowly turning out and can’t wait to have it all done ❤️
sure i love literature (fanfiction) i’m always open for book recommendations (fic recs)
Thoughts and prayers for those who aren’t Dragon Age fans, but who follow Dragon Age fans during this dark and trying time. The time of incomprehensible fantasy politics essays is returning… I can hear the rumble of a thousand mechanical keyboards being smashed upon by gamer fingers with the kind of fury and speed that man was not meant to produce. Bullshit ahead.
thinking about the guy on reddit that posted a pic of a giant water bug he put on his arm after flipping it over because it was on its back
the sequel: tarantula hawk in an open cup
wheres that pic of the person holding a blue ring octopus?
this is the only image on these internets that has ever seriously made me scream out loud. these things are like, among the most lethal animals on the planet
I don’t usually do this, but holy heck I despise the comments on this post! Very mean, very ill informed. Best intentions yes, but uhhhh
So I am here to make a small psa! Hey all! Zoologist who actually worked with snakes! Hey :3
So ecdysis is the removal of an organism’s outer layer. Snakes do it in the wild by rubbing their bodies against rough things like trees, rocks, etc. If in the wild they are having trouble they’ll go to places of higher moisture to make the skin more soft and hopefully slip right out of it! However sometimes it doesn’t go so well and the skin gets stuck on or comes off patchy. Especally if they have battle scars, drought, or getting older! In captivity bad shedding is usually just a moister problem or you simply don’t have something rough enough in your tank for them to rub on. Easy fix!
So the million dollar question: Can I remove the skin for them? A cookie cutter ‘one size fits all!’ answer does not apply for animals ever. EVER. Everything is situational. On top of that every animal is an individual.
In general, if the pieces of stuck skin are small. Hell yeah you can. if the skin comes off with you just softly petting (with, not against, the scales) your snake baby, then do it. There is no reason not to. Snakes are tough creatures. Doing that is like brushing dead fur off your cat/dog.
Now, is it the entire piece of large parts of it? Soak your snerk! The museum I worked at had to do this with their old, blind rattle snake often because… Old and blind… put them in a nice lukewarm tub of a small amount of water (enough for them to only be half way up the side of their body) for lets say 10ish minutes (just make sure the water doesn’t get cold 10 minutes is my go to). I also recamend putting a piece of snake furniture (i usually put my baby’s rubbing rock) in the middle so they can feel more confident and get their head out of the water. After that they should shed just fine.
Oh no I tried soaking him and fixing the moisture and it still didn’t get it off themselves! and and and when I lightly pet them the skin still won’t come off gently with my touch! What do I do? THAT is when you get a professional. There is definitely an underlying issue that you need to find.
All this talk of “only a professional should remove a snakes skin!” Is kinda misinformation. Because I PROMISE you the snake is in significantly more discomfort with stuck shed on them, restricting their growth, AND if its on their eyes, impeding their vision! Now that’s not to say, SCRUB OFF YOUR SNAKE’S SKIN! Please don’t. Gently rubbing off the skin will not hurt your snake.
Now letting them do it on their own is still key! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Make sure your snake has proper moisture and a rub rock/furniture and you won’t have to worry. If the problem reoccurs constantly, I recommend spraying your snakes /furniture/ with one (1) sprit of water from a squirt bottle every now and again. That’ll help increase the moisture without getting your snake wet or getting their bedding wet.
Now the video: see how easy that shedding comes off? That means the shedding is bairly attached to the snake’s scales. Think of it as the snake is wearing an already unzipped dress on and now their gal pal is helping to slip the dress off.
The snake is fine. More then fine! The snake is free!!! Free from tight, uncomfortable old skin! On top of that the snake looks so at ease in posture. He glances at human with curiosity. He is fine and I love him. I’d kill for that cold blooded pupper.
I hope that clears up all you animal lover’s confliction.
I hate how the stereotype is that dolphins are good and sharks are evil, when dolphins are so smart that they have the capacity for evil but sharks are simple fish who can only be true neutral, so even if a minority of dolphins are evil there are still more evil dolphins than sharks
